Marblehead, Ohio

We drove those farm-filled roads
passing sunflowers
and cows
and sheep
and towns with main streets
lined with magnificent homes,
coffee houses,
and hardware stores

For these, the journey would have been
enough.

But – oh that wide expanse!
All shades of blue and white,

with sailboats,
and herons,

and seagulls.
And children & dogs splashing
In that shallow water.

Something inside calms right down.

Let’s just sit and watch a spell.

  2. You know, in all the years we've lived here, we've only been up there to Kelly's Island a handfull of times, and I always wonder why we don't go more often.

  6. I had a friend who loved watching water move around - rivers, lakes, oceans - she didn't care as long as it was moving water. She really got me into that particular meditation. It is so rejuvinating!!

Love the blue sky with the bird against it and of course your smiling face.

  7. Beautifully written! There's something about a wide expanse of water like the ocean or Great Lakes that is so calming.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I am so intrigued by the Miche bag and glad to hear it holds more than you thought -- I've asked for one for Christmas :)

  12. The Bug, that field of Sunflowers is amazing! What a lovely, picturesque weekend you both had. Thank you for sharing the images.

I love sailboats, also. Just watching them. Someone once told me, if you have a problem you can't solve, and it is worrying you too much, picture a sailboat in your mind. Then put the problem in the sailboat, and visualize the boat sailing away to keep yourself from worrying about it.

Believe it or not, it actually tends to work :-)

  13. We did have a really nice time. And a big perk was getting to stay in a hotel room. I don't know why I enjoy that so...

Lucky Dr. M - the sunflower field is part of his regular morning commute. Sigh.

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
