Project 365 – Week Thirty

 Sunday, July 18th
On Sunday Dr. M & I went to our church picnic. It was held at the home of a couple from the church. We had such a great time! It was so relaxing. Some folks fished & others played scrabble, but Dr. M & I just relaxed and talked to people. After he grilled our chicken - & burgers & brats & mets for some of the others.

Monday, July 19th
It's time for the Tax Time Pig again! Except that today s/he's the Karate Pig.

 Tuesday, July 20th
On Tuesday Dr. M got some pictures of hummingbirds enjoying our yard.

Wednesday, July 21st
On Wednesday I took a picture of our newest wildflower – it's going to be fairly spectacular once all its buds bloom.

And I took a picture of myself in my new reading glasses. You can read all about that trauma here.

Thursday, July 22nd
On Thursday I took some pictures of our garden, & the Watering Man. He seems to enjoy his work, doesn't he?

I was glad to see that The Bug household is twice ok! I think this has to do with our natural gas valve, but maybe they just really like us!

Friday, July 23rd
Yesterday I took another picture of the Watering Man in action. And I received a lovely surprise – but those pictures are for tomorrow.

Saturday, July 24th
Today I took some pictures of an extra special gift I received in the mail yesterday from my friend Kim. She's a quilter & she made two bags to send to far-off friends. I was so honored to be one of the recipients.

I especially like the Rumi quote she put on the outside pocket. You can see it on the detail picture, but just in case, here are the words:

You Are as You Are

You do not resemble anyone.
You are not the bride or the groom.

You do not fit in a house with anyone.
You have left the closed-in corner
where you lived. Domestic animals
get ridden to work. Not you.

You are as you are,
an indescribable message
on the air.

  2. I loved that Rumi quote. Thanks for sharing it.

And the pig's costume this week reminded me of a joke...

What do you call a pig who knows karate? Pork Chop!

  5. I've had some good luck with hummingbird pics over the years, but I think one must be lucky...or very patient...to get them. These were shot through the back storm door's glass, and I had to adjust the camera on the fly so that the auto focus didn't get confused, but I got a couple of really good ones! It helps to have a VERY good camera, in this case a Nikon D5000 with a 55mm-200mm zoom lens. It's 12 megapixels, and the extra megapixels really help for shots like this, as you can zoom deep into the pic after the fact to get the close-up you couldn't get at the moment. Finally, we don't put out feeders...the neighbors take care of that...but we do try to have flowers they might like, and we've been blessed thus far!

  8. Nothing better than relaxing by a lake! Sounds like a great time. That wildflower looks amazing, and it's not done yet? Can't wait to see it again!
    Karate pig is awesome!
Love the hummingbirds and that they were captured. That's a hard thing to do.
(BTW, thanks for your empathy with a parent passing. I know what you mean about being fine on a "big" day and then randomly being choked up. The emotions are so unpredictable)
    Have a super week!!

  9. There's just something so satisfying about tending a garden and seeing it flourish. Or at least, I assume it's satisfying :) That's Ivan's job and one he really enjoys. I stay far, far away from the garden...only venturing close to help harvest, because my thumbs are both black and I am DEATH to plants. lol
    That's the cutest bag!
Karate Pig cracked me up! The people in that house have a very *ahem* different sense of humor, don't they? :)

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
