The Summer Sun

Wheat Field with Rising Sun, Vincent Van Gogh, 1889
 The Summer Sun

A too big sky
Is fine for winter
All that wide open
Pale and watery light.

But summer calls for
A narrow valley or
Perhaps an ancient tree
Where my back
Fits just so.

I look to the mountains
See that deep balm?
The summer sky
Will never find
Me there.

  1. I'll settle for a supporting tree, too! A nice little tribute to the prompt!

  2. I'd like to join you at that spot. Is the tree big enough for the two of us if we're sitting back to back?
