2012 Project 365 – Week Eight

We’re mostly back to normal in the Bug Household – well, as normal as… you know. Ha!

Sunday, February 19th
I went to an open house & got to meet Eva, the elderly bunny. She’s so cute!

Dr. M took this picture of doves. Here’s Dr. M’s caption from Facebook: So, you want to grab a bite to eat, watch the sunset...maybe, you know... The phrase, "not if you were the last dove in Xenia" comes to mind...

Monday, February 20th
The Tax Time Pig says Happy President’s President Presidents’ Presidents Day!

Dr. M took this sparrow picture. I have to wonder why this bird is so fat – it wasn’t even that cold that day. Could it be the 24 hour buffet available in the Bug backyard?

It’s a starling sighting! They are so funny looking to me, with their orange feet.

Tuesday, February 21st
Weekly squirrel picture.

Wednesday, February 22nd
I’d say this deer is camouflaged pretty well!

The State of the Bug: Lent begins.

Thursday, February 23rd
Red tailed hawk. Dr. M didn’t have our long lensed camera with him, but these are still pretty good pictures.

I don’t know why the gaggle of white geese always make me giggle, but they do.

Friday, February 24th
Ohio scenery.

One of Dr. M’s friends got this sheep as swag at a stair-climbing fundraising event she participated in. Of course she knew that it really belonged to Dr. M so she sent it to him! Thanks K!

Saturday, February 25th
My breakfast (lovingly prepared by Dr. M). I forgot to take the picture before I chopped up the egg. That’s turkey bacon – it works really well as a shovel to get the grits & egg to my mouth. Please note the absence of raisins. Ha!

Go to Sara’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. you got something on your head there :) Sorry - had to say it... I know it gets on people's nerves. I'm good at getting on people's nerves. Ask my husband.

  2. Sunday - she is so totally not interested in that droob.

Wednesday - once I unthinkingly tried to wipe away the smudge on an acquaintance, you know, she had gotten dirt on her forehead somehow. she caught my hand.

Thursday - hawks are such beautiful and awesome birds.

    Saturday - grits? in Ohio?

  3. We import the grits, Ellen ;-) Actually, all the grocery stores around here stock grits...lots of people moved from the southern Appalachians and elsewhere in the rural South to Ohio, esp. southwestern Ohio, in the 20th century looking for work in manufacturing.

  4. Years ago, I did the same thing, tried to wipe the smudge off a co-workers head, telling him he'd got some dirt on it. He not so gently explained to me what Ash Wednesday means. Ooops, as Rick Perry would say.

  6. Loved Tax Time Pig this week....and the birds and the rabbit...and well you know I look forward to your pictures every week. They always have a way to make me smile. You were cute with your ashes too.

  7. Did you do drive-by ashes this year? It was a big story on the news. I think it's kinda weird. On one hand, churches need to change with the times; on the other, if you're going to go to church, go IN for Pete's sake!

  8. That pig has a huge wardrobe!
I'll be following your Lenten progress or lessons.
I like the discipline provided by the rosary, but am totally unfamiliar with the content. Curious and definitely wanting more discipline in prayer.
    Blessings!

  9. I can always count on your blog to bring a smile to my face. I am particularly amused of late by the squirrels. Did you know that I went to Earlham? Earlham is overrun with squirrels, so much so that back in my day we even had t-shirts that stated the obvious: "there are lots of squirrels at Earlham." It was a bit of a veiled message, but I always enjoyed the joke. Happy week to you!

  12. Love love love grits and eggs!

I was cleaning up the kitchen on Wednesday evening and I caught a glimpse of myself in the window and was a bit confused until I realized that I was looking at myself with the cross on my forehead....

    Blessings

  13. great nature shots as always

Tax Time Pig looks resplendent - but you still haven't told me who the duck in the background of the christmas picture was - is it a secret?

And I always enjoy State Of The Bug :)

  15. I'm so happy you posted the Tax Time Pig. You know my love for him is boundless. H did our taxes yesterday.

I've been craving grits and eggs and bacon lately. Now that I've seen yours, I must have some. You are a bad influence because I will not have the turkey bacon. Oh, no. I must have me some pig! Some Tax Time Pig!

  16. Don't feel bad about getting around; I'm still trying to catch up too. I keep thinking things will slow down but they only speed up!

Y'all could do a whole set of pretty calendars... one with squirrels, one with birds, one with the Tax Time Pig and sidekick. I looked up the Spanish word for goose and found out there are actually two completely different words, depending on whether it's male (ganso) or female (oca). So that's not a workable idea. Hmmmm, will have to give it some thought.

Just the name: "gaggle" of geese would make you giggle :) Some words just sound funny!

    Have a great week!

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
