2012 Project 365 – Week Nine

This week we have pictures of birds and squirrels and concrete Bug Blog mascots…
Sunday, February 26th
Dr. M took a picture of a grackle – I love their iridescent feathers.

The Weekly Squirrel.

Fingernail moon :)

Monday, February 27th
Ducks ducks ducks!

The Tax Time Pig has been a bad boy! Do you see the feathers coming out of his mouth?

A feeder picture.

Tuesday, February 28th
Dr. M took another picture of bare branches against the sky. I don’t know why I love these pictures so.

Wednesday, February 29th
The State of the Bug – bed head! Since I’ve been inadvertently growing my hair out - & I’m tired of pulling it every time I roll over & tired of the tangles, I asked someone with long hair how she sleeps with hers. And this is what she recommended.

And here it is brushed out – it even helps make it bouncier. Thanks JoAnne!

Beautiful sky!

This made me laugh out loud & turn around to take a picture. That is a cut-out of a wolf – with terrifying plastic bags in its mouth. It’s supposed to be scaring off the geese. They look terrified, don’t’ they?

Thursday, March 1st
Dr. M found a few robins in our front yard.

This is my lunch. I don’t like carrots & when I pulled it out of the microwave & was so upset! The whole thing was carrots! Yuck!

Then I remembered what it really was – sweet potatoes. Duh.

The folks at work surprised me with an early birthday cake – it’s an ice cream cake. Yum!

Friday, March 2nd
The red winged blackbirds are back! Woot!

This morning when I pulled my reading glasses out a tiny screw fell onto my desk. Then I noticed that a lens had fallen out. Thank goodness it was in the bottom of my purse. What’s funny is that the other day I tried to use the glasses & I couldn’t see AT ALL. I was very concerned (what was wrong with my eyes - gah!) – but not concerned enough to notice that a lens was out of my glasses. Ha! Fortunately a nice guy from IT came down & fixed them for me (I figured he’d have a teeny screw driver & he did).

It’s the moon again! Pretty amazing to see it after all the terrible storms today. Fortunately our area was spared any damage – I really feel for the folks in Kentucky & Indiana.

Saturday, March 3rd (It's Mah Birthday!)
Dr. M & I were SO excited that we were going to meet fellow blogger Karen on our way to NC - what a great birthday present! And now she's not just a "virtual" friend - we're friends in real life too! (Although I quibble a bit that there's a difference between the two in some situations). We met her for lunch & had a great time just talking.

She gave us a goody bag of West Virginia stuff - I'll need to give her some Cincinnati Chili the next time we meet :)

After we left her I worked on my crochet for a while. It's sort of starting to look like something - although all I'm doing right now is practicing stitches.

And then we saw sheep - of course! Next week you'll get to see the nice birthday banner & balloons that Daddy & Amy had for me at their house. This week, just enjoy the silliness :)

Go to Sara’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. The cake looks delish. That carrot stuff...not so. I had to buy a tiny little screwdriver to keep all the screws on my glasses tightened up. Otherwise there's no telling where all the pieces would wind up.

    Thanks for sharing. :)

  2. Robins already! You win. We haven't seen any here yet, which is odd, considering the very mild weather.

That lunch looked really good, whether it was carrots or sweet potatoes, both of which I love.

Finally, the TTP "costume" seems like it's really reaching, IMO. The pig doesn't even have to be there, if you think about it. I think you should stop at the house and call them on it! LOL.

Happy Birthday to you! Were you a Lion or a Lamb on your Birthday?

  3. Yep, those geese look pretty horrified!
Happy Belated Birthday! Don't you just love meeting up with fellow bloggers? And isn't it amazing that we really AREN'T serial killers? :D

  4. wonder what those geese look like when they're calm, hahahah!

Love that pic of you when you took your hair down...beautiful!

  5. Well...I liked the whole story here. The fingernail moon...which reminded me of my Aunt..long story..and the frightened geese...I feel kinda bad for the person that put the wolf with plastic bags in its mouth to scare them away. We don't have ice cream cakes here that look that good..yum. And your hair looks great both ways. Your crochet is looking good...it is addicting so I think you will be making more. They are the best dishrags I have. Happy Birthday!

  6. The wolf thing cracked me up. They have those at my son's college & they work as well as the one in your pic.

  13. I startled my husband when I read your caption with the eye glasses. Hilarious.
And funny about the carrots and sweet potatoes, too. These are two good examples that prove that old saying... everything is not always as it seems.

How do you get pics like that of the moon. Beautiful.

Hope you have a very happy birthday!

  14. Beautiful smile, hair and sky.
Great that you could go home for more birthday celebration!
And what fun to go from virtual to f2f friendship!
    Have a great week!

  15. I'm with you...I think people can be friends online, without having met. In fact, people who read my blog actually know more about me in many cases than ppl I know IRL...I'm NOT this forth coming with information in person...I'm actually pretty shy.

I've always had long hair and never noticed an issue while sleeping. Then again, there is NOTHING I notice while sleeping.

    You are beautiful, Dear Woman.

  16. I do look forward to these posts. What are the colored markings on the sheep? (If it's scary, don't tell us.)

Your crochet is beautiful. I'm just learning and it feels so strange after all the knitting I have done.

  17. Thanks everyone! NCMW - the markings have to do to lambing - they paint the ladies who are knocked up, those who recently gave birth, etc., then mark the lambs, too. Sometimes it can mean what we're afraid of (they only keep so many rams), but mostly it's just to keep track of breeding :)

  18. Looks like a fun week! Your crocheting is really coming along.

  19. I see several dangerous things in the post and feel compelled to point them out:

Before you know it, you'll be enslaved by that crochet hook and fiber. The road is a slippery slope to a sheep farm where you will become enamored of the ancient art of sheering sheep and learning to spin the fiber into wool. Dr. M will be your enabler. Before long, you'll be dragging anyone who'll go to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and entering the sheep to shawl contest.

    Don't say you weren't warned!

And in case I missed it, Happy Birthday!

  20. Happy belated birthday!

Funny, I never thought about the problem of long hair pulling as one is sleeping in bed. Ouch!

Love the fingernail moon, and the plastic bag wolf definitely looks ineffective! And thank goodness you found that tiny screw. You must have looked pretty funny trying to use glasses with one lens! :)

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
