2012 Project 365 – Week Nineteen

I don’t want to say that this week has the most pictures ever (mostly because I’m too lazy to go back & count), but I think that this might be the most pictures ever. I hope you like flowers & squirrels!

Sunday, May 6th
The State of the Bug – new shades. I lost the screw out of my other (perfectly good) pair & after trying to rob a screw from another pair & use it on the good pair – well, let’s just say that everything ended up in the trash. So here are my new $10 sunglasses.

That evening I was walking around outside on the phone with my dad & noticed this dude at our back fence. I didn’t trust my eyes, but Dr. M took a picture & yes, it really is a skunk!

Last of the Super Moon.

Monday, May 7th
All those maple seeds everywhere have started sprouting. The ones in the yard are getting mowed, but this one is in the front flower bed (we also have one in the geranium pot that’s a couple of years old).

Squirrel gymnastics. I give him a 10!

Tuesday, May 8th
Dr. M has been so good to get pictures of the roadside wildflowers. All the really pretty places that I see are on stretches of road where it would be a bad idea to try to take a picture.

Wednesday, May 9th
The Tax Time Pig. And his (her?) cohorts).

Some house finches came to visit.

We had a huge double rainbow this evening! Here’s a few pictures pieced together.

And here’s my stylized version from PicMonkey.

Thursday, May 10th
I had lunch with my former coworker S. It’s always fun to get together with her for a little while.

Dr. M took some more gorgeous flower pics.

Friday, May 11th
The sheep farm I drive by. They were too busy eating to pay any attention to me – so you get sheep butts. Heh.

Thirsty squirrel.

Goldfinch!

Saturday, May 12th
Dr. M took me to a local cemetery (where he got the peony picture from Thursday). Such a lovely place.

Cemetery squirrel!

We have a volunteer tomato plant in one of our raised beds! I saw it the other day & told Dr. M that maybe I’m crazy, but I think there’s a tomato growing out there! And he said, you are crazy, but that is definitely a tomato!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there!

Go to Sara’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. Oh, I love the pig! And your volunteer tomato. How nice for you. I hope it produces especially tasty fruit.

  2. Those peony shots were really good. Ours lasted just a few short days and we did not get flowers photos this year.

  3. Ten dollars maybe, but you make those sunglasses look like a million bucks.

  4. I love the skunk! How great to get a photo of a skunk so clearly! They're normally so shy.

I wonder how that tomato plant wound up there? Did you grow tomatoes there in a previous season, or could it have come from a seed in compost? (I've never heard of a tomato seed, from an actual tomato, growing!)

  6. I get my sunglasses at a cheapo closeout store for 88 cents a pair. They're last year's models. They look like big bucks knockoffs, and I am always complimented on my Chanels, RayBans, etc. I just laugh and tell them about my bargains. I am terrible with sunglasses: sitting on them in the car, leaving them at places, etc.

Love, love, love your peonies. I miss mine. Rick is terribly allergic, so they had to go. Now we have Formal Boxwoods, all in a Neat Row, where the peonies used to clamor and riot. Sigh.

Enjoy your volunteer. We try for them every year with composting green tomatoes in the fall, but this year, in spite of the mild winter, didn't get any. You're just a lucky, lucky girl all round!

  10. Bug - you had my heart jump a beat today when you showed TTP and his partners in crime in their attire, and then the comment about Mother's Day!!!

I had to go and look it up to make sure i hadn't missed it - because of course in the UK we had it back in March.

    Phew

  11. That rainbow. Wowie-kazowie!!

Your glasses with the tag still on made me chuckle. The kids and I try on at the store all the time and look just like that!

  12. I'm embarrassed for the Tax Time pig. Crocheted ankle bracelets?! It's a very 80s workout look that is best forgotten. haha

Love, love, love the peony photos!!!

My husband's family has a series of skunk encounter stories, none of them pretty. Ivan and I have one of our own, that ended much better. Hope your story has a happy ending :)

  13. Oh, oh, oh, the flower pics are amazing!
And the pig is too much!
Skunk appearance on your blog is a first, right?

  14. The peonies are so beautiful - but I love the cemetery squirrel best! Well, the angel's really fine, too. And then there are the birds...

You folks take some of the most enjoyable photos. But yeh - that pig needs to lose that outfit.

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
