2012 Project 365 – Week Twenty

I’m sitting in our hotel in Hilton Head SC & I SHOULD be outside, but we did that already so we’re resting for a bit before we go out again. We just got down here Saturday evening, so you’ll have to wait until next week for beach pictures.
Sunday, May 13th
Our evening visitor. We haven’t seen her again so maybe she’s found another place to forage.

I’m working on a hat. I only had to tear it out & start over about four times.

Monday, May 14th
Our yarrow is starting to bloom.

Weekly squirrel.

Iridescent grackle.

Tuesday, May 15th
House finch.

Dove taking off – it’s an angel!

Went to dinner with a friend. I had the chicken noodle soup & banana bread. Anyone care to guess where we were eating?

Wednesday, May 16th
The State of the Bug – very annoyed because I just figured out that it was WEDNESDAY instead of THURSDAY. Sigh.

Mr. Cardinal giving us the cold shoulder.

Thursday, May 17th
Mrs. Cardinal comes in for a landing.

Wild strawberry blossom.

Woodpecker!

We saw this in Walmart – for those Nutella fanatics among you :)

Friday, May 18th
Starling in the bath – love all the splashy water!

Wild strawberry.

The Tax Time Pig and his/her cohorts. Made me smile when I saw them.

Saturday, May 19th
We left the house at 6:30 this morning to head to Hilton Head. Twelve hours later we were totally whipped – not used to such long car trips! Here’s the view from our little balcony. It’s already been the source of some fun pictures – you’ll see them next week.

Flowers below the balcony.

I thought this sign was really funny – but there actually IS an alligator in there!

Go to Sara’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  2. I am kinda drooling over that yarn for that hat... beautiful!!! I love the sheen it has on it.

& had to laugh at the pig & ducks new wear... someone took the time to crochet those... awesome! :)

I think that's your goal - to have one of your projects on THE PIG!!!

  5. Hilton Head...sounds wonderful! I like the yarn also. I am more of an expert at ripping things out than I am at putting them together sometimes. It can be frustrating. Enjoy your vacation!...oh and I like the larger pictures...:)

  6. The yarn is beautiful!

Who--pray tell--would WANT to feed an alligator?

  7. Can't believe how fast your crochet is advancing! Way to go! Have a wonderful relaxing week and watch out for the alligators.

  8. Enjoy your vacation, I know you will have a wonderful time!

I have had to restart a few patterns many many times, sometimes ya just have to work through it a few time to get the hang of a new design! Sometime it helps if I read the direction out loud to myself, and also getting someone else to look at the pattern (if you have a friend who understands crochet) helps sometime too!

    Good Luck!

    Blessings

  10. I love Hilton Head - perfect vacation spot.

And I love Nutella - to me as a kid it was what peanut butter is to kids here.

  11. Wow...you have a beautiful spot there is HH! Hope you enjoy every minute and come back feeling refreshed!

That wild strawberry looks more like a raspberry...either way, YUM! (and pretty, too!)

  12. The grackle eye and iridescence,
    the squirrel's tail,
    water droplets and yarrow blossoms--
these are a few of my favorite pics.

    When the skunk sprays
    When the bee (pig) stings
    When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite Bug
And then I don't feel so bad.

  13. You sound like me, having already been outside so that can be checked off the list. This applies when it is hot and humid, I can handle the other stuff.

Enjoy your week. Much deserved! Great photos, per usual.

  14. LOVED all the birdie pics. Thanks for sharing.

  15. Love the Tax Time Pig, as usual! I had no idea alligators lived in South Carolina. I thought they were a Florida thing. (And hibiscus too, for that matter.)

  16. so firstly - i love all of your shots of birds this week, they are fabulous

Secondly - Tax Time Pig was great

But thirdly, the alligator sign? I can imagine people trying to feed alligators - but who in their right minds would want to hassle something with more teeth than the entire Osmond family?

  17. That is one arrogant grackle!

For the Nutella Purist--such as me--that package is wasteful. Not enough Nutella. Who needs breadsticks? Bleh. ;-)

Be careful about harassing the alligator. If that includes photography, you could be in for some trouble.

Have a good time, and thanks for thinking of us all back here.

  18. I love and feel sorry for grackles. I don't understand why they get a bad rap. I mean, they're just being true to themselves, and what could be more honorable?

I used to crochet - afghans, stuffed toys, scarves, mittens, etc. Let's see, that was right before tole painting and candy making, oil painting, furniture refinishing.... All I do now is facebook and blog. We must stop meeting like this! I say we meet down on the farm for some of that banana bread and chicken noodles!

  19. I agree 100%, Karen! I love the idea of meeting down on the farm :-)

  20. Tax Time Pig & Co. are too funny. The owner must really like to crochet (or is it knitted?).

Hope you're having a wonderful time!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
