2012 Project 365 – Week Twenty-Eight

I think it’s safe to say that this week was for the birds – it was a pretty feathery week in the Bug back yard. Note: I decided to play around with PicMonkey on some of these pictures. Yes, I made them look like that on purpose.
Saturday, July 7th
Butterflies in the garden…

Does he look guilty to you? He does to me. He stole one of our giant tomatoes later in the week.

Sunday, July 8th
Frog!

Daylily.

Birds in the back yard.

Monday, July 9th
Yep – squirrels are pretty darn silly.

Tuesday, July 10th
Daylilies.

The Tax Time Pig! Apparently it’s party time :)

I love it when the gold finches visit.

Wednesday, July 11th
Cows.

Thursday, July 12th
Daylilies.

I went to visit a friend at the hospital. Mary should look exhausted, but she just looks beautiful & grateful. Her daughter had been shot in the face on Sunday night (drive by shooting – she was in the kitchen at the back of the house and the bullet found her anyway). Joi is miraculously doing fine & going home on Friday.

The neighbors have chickens. They make me laugh out loud.

Friday, July 13th
The State of the Bug. I was trying to show you my naked bright pink lips – I’ve determined that I’ve developed an allergy to lipstick. I can use Bert’s Bees stuff, but any kind of actual lipstick or gloss makes my lips crack & peel & burn. I’m kinda bummed about that. Any recommendations for hypoallergenic lip stuff?

Our sunflower is blooming!

The insanity that is our pet geranium, Pinky. I’d say this five year old geranium is doing pretty well!

Go to Sara’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. great pics all. love the ones of the fledgling and the sunflower. so sorry to hear about your friend's daughter. what is the matter with people that think they can just fire off their guns and the bullets just go into another dimension without causing harm. can't help you one the lipstick as I never wear any. I probably should though. my lips are so thin I look like I have a beak instead.

  2. The butterflies in the garden look like beautiful blossoms. So pretty.

  3. Just what was it with this past week? My co-workers and I described it a little differently, a much stronger word than "feathered."

I can't stand lipstick, I put Vaseline on my lips. Sorry - that doesn't solve your problem. Can you put food coloring in Vaseline? Just kidding. Maybe.

  4. I love the butterfly picture!

And maybe the tax time pig is just getting ready for a trip to hawaii?!!

I am so glad your friends daughter is ok! that is so scary.

  5. I, too, share the grief and sadness, yet relief at the tragic situation your friend has had to face. More power to her.

  6. Love all the flowers! Yay for strong people facing hard times. :)

  7. Love all the wildlife this week. Your sunflower shot is great. The ones I did the other week are now wilting terribly. The draught is killing us.

TTP looks in need of a ukelele

  9. I bet you get hummingbirds at that pink geranium!

Doesn't Burt's Bees make a tinted lip balm line?

  10. I LOVE your photo of the cows. It looks to me like you've whomped it up a bit - but there's the key. I have to think about it! Good job, whether it's enhanced or not.

And those are some pretty fancy day lilies you have. ;)

  11. Looks like the feathers and the fur were flyin' in your backyard this week :) That squirrel looks like he's levitating in the first photo. Reminds me of a silly poem I memorized as a kid: "I wish that my room had a floor, I don't care so much for a door, but this walking around without touching the ground, is getting to be quite a bore!" haha

With as many birds as you have, I'm guessing you have a whole separate budget line for bird seed :)

Lovely lilies, and the sunflower is lookin' good too. As are the geraniums. Mine have to be cut back twice a year or they flow over the sidewalk.

Bummer about the lip stick. Hope you find something that works. Have you tried putting a lip protector on first -- something like chapstick? I'm wondering if a barrier between your lips and the lip stick might help.

    Have a great week!

  12. Great effects. Will have to try that program.
I hadn't noticed before, but the pig is smiling!
Love the sunflower and the forever geranium.
Hate evil in the world that causes tragic incidents.
    Have a great week!

  13. WOW. I wish my flowers looked that good. I bought some pretty ones but now they are burnt. And I even watered them a lot. I just found some tinted lip glosses that I really like I think it is Neotrogena. Avon sells a good Shea butter one

  14. I'm behind on blogs and was going to breeze through this post. Glad I changed my mind to look through all of this week's beauty. I'm so sorry it was marred by your friend's tragedy. What a shame! I'm thankful your friend's daughter survived this terrible event, but so sorry that family had to face it at all.

I have no solution for your lips, except to say it may be a specific common ingredient causing your symptoms, such as petrolatum or the spf used. You may have to play around with products to find one you can use.

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
