Monday Miscellany

Look! I'm posting miscellany on Monday! Am I back on track? Or is this just an amazing coincidence?

Yesterday evening we had a small thunderstorm which cooled the temps sufficiently for Dr. M to make a fire (admittedly it doesn’t take much to have him wanting to make a fire). We roasted marshmallows! We each ate three & felt slightly ill afterward. Next time we’ll just go with one or two each.

I look stoned in this picture, but I promise it was just the sweetness of the mallow getting to me. Heh.
I’m six pounds down in my weight loss journey so far. That’s right – it has only taken me 5 weeks to lose 6 pounds. Actually, I guess that’s right in line with the recommended rate of weight loss. But it sure seems a lot of work for a little bit of return. On the other hand, I can now check “moves at least 30 minutes per day” on the intake form at my doctor’s office instead of “inactive.”

I thought this was a good idea at the time; however, in practice it mostly makes me crave split pea soup. That can’t be good, can it? I’m taking the bottle to a coworker tomorrow – her 4 year old daughter will love this shade. Sigh.

Our high was “only” in the lower 90s today, and as usual I was freezing at work. I was remembering why I don’t wear sandals to the office – frozen toe syndrome. Although I guess that green shade would really complement blue toes – it’s practically a preppy combination! Ah, if I were wearing an Izod the trip down memory lane would be complete…

  1. Your toes remind me of how much I love green olives. And the martinis they belong in.

  2. At least you have toenails. Some sort of fungus attacked mine and a couple of them look more like dried-up corn kernels than nails. If I painted them it would look like I was punctuating my toes.

  3. I kind of dig that shade of green! Love your Izod reference. Remember those? And Polos. I had tons of colored Polos.

  4. The nails remind me of avocados.

Wonder what's with some of us automatically thinking of food items when we see your green toe nails? :)

  5. I thought I had gone over the Green Toenail Issue back at the Dept.

    Sigh.

  8. A fire? You must be like Richard Nixon when he cranked up the air conditioner so he could have a fire.

  14. The last time I had smores with the kids...the marshmallow made me really sick because of the sweetness. I wonder if they upped the sugar content in them.

  16. Congrats on those pounds! I'm down four, so you're ahead of me - but I'm convinced that on Sunday I'll discover I've made five. Taking off five pounds sounds so encouraging - I'll head for ten.

I brought you something I just ran across - this link about President Bush's visit recently to Zambia. It's a great article. I thought would would enjoy seeing it.
