2013 Project 365 – Week Four

It was a snowy week around here – more so for Dr. M than for me. Fortunately for you, he took pictures!
Saturday, January 19th
I mentioned last week that Dr. M was working on his brakes.

I think he needed new pads, don’t you?

After he finished we went for a spin to make sure they worked. And we found sheep – imagine that!

Sunday, January 20th
The Moon!

Monday, January 21st
One of our snowy days.

Tuesday, January 22nd
The geese are on the move again.

I wonder if you can read their configurations like you can read tea leaves?

Wednesday, January 23rd
I had made this scarf for a coworker last week & forgot to photograph it. She wore it to work today so I could get a picture.

Dr. M came home to a back yard overrun with starlings! Very Hitchcockian I must say.

Fortunately this guy ran them off.

Thursday, January 24th
Snow pictures.

The State of the Bug – I finished a scarf to match the blue hat. I was going to give this set away, but the scarf has “issues” so I’ll make another set to give away.

Friday, January 25th
It snowed a lot on Friday morning. Dr. M took these pictures on his way home from school. It didn’t snow nearly as much down where I work – in fact I didn’t have to pay attention to the road at all on my way home until I reached our neighborhood. I mean, of course¸ I paid attention to the road, I just didn’t have to be careful. Um, I think I’ll stop talking now.

Fat cardinals in the back yard.

I was craving cake & a friend posted this recipe on Facebook, so I had to try it. Not bad!

[Note: Here's the recipe - sorry I didn't include it earlier!]

¼ cup sugar
¼ cup flour
2 Tbsp cocoa
Pinch salt
2 Tbsp olive oil
3 Tbsp water

Mix dry ingredients, then mix in oil & water. Nuke for 1 minute 40 seconds. Careful – it’s hot!

Another Facebook friend’s son underwent a stem cell transplant January 14th beginning 100 days of living in a sterile environment while his body rebuilds his blood cell system from the ground up. A group of us marked our calendars for April 24th (the 100th day) & we’re counting down each day until then. Today his mom reported: "Well everyone it's official, John Wiseman has turned the corner. On Wednesday his white blood cell count went from .1 to .2 and as of today its .8. His body has accepted his stem cells and his body is making its own cells. He is still weak and we have a long way to go but it's at least a positive report…“ (That went into my “Good Things” jar)

Go to Mamma Fran’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. What? No squirrels?!

As for the brownie... I thought that by clicking on the picture I could see the recipe for brownie in a mug, but I couldn't. Good thing google was there to save the day. Mine didn't quite look like yours, but I enjoyed it anyway!

  2. I am off to google "Brownie in a Mug" as well, because the result looks delicious. Well, I'll google tomorrow. I already had cake today.

Good luck and good healing to your friend's son!

Oh...and I took your advice. I'm starting my own 365 project today. I'll blame you if it fails. ;-p

  3. Cardinals always look so great against a snowy background. And I love the collage of geese-in-flight pictures!

  4. Such fat cardinals, indeed! They are so happy in your yard.

Thanks for the brownie recipe. We will try it tonight. I was just crabbing about a cake in mug recipe.

Your jar made me realize that I never did start my Good Things Journal like I intended. I completely forgot. How worrisome.

  7. The snow is wonderful, but you know I have snow envy. Those cardinals are so pretty, too, but I must say the starlings are interesting and well-photographed.

I'm so happy for your friend who's already showing improvement with his blood count. Here's to steady-as-she-goes improvement every day.

I love that recipe for cake in a cup. I believe I'm going to try that right now. It might be just the ticket for those times when I can't stand one more minute without something sweet. I can't keep ice cream in the house, that's for sure. I'm nearly desperate to find a way to stop eating. It's got to be some deep, unresolved emotional issue - but I don't care about that. I just want ten pounds gone. ;)

  8. So the geese are moving again? You mean back north? Does this mean we're on the downhill run into Spring? I was hoping for at least one good snow here in TX this winter. It had better hurry!

  12. Is the tax pig on hiatus?

I love that picture of the solitary tree in the snow with its hint of color. Beautiful!

  15. That pig has been dressed as Elmo for WEEKS now, but this morning I noticed s/he was wearing some sort of interesting pom-pom outfit. I'll try to get a picture this week :)

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
