2013 Project 365 – Week Six

Snow, birds, beasts – it was February business as usual around here this week. If you haven’t already seen them, you should definitely check out Dr. M’s two posts this week – I’m only sharing a couple of the photos that he has on his blog. Go here to see a Collage of Cardinals (really – go now!), and go here to see some of the best pictures he’s taken (in my humble opinion).
Saturday, February 2nd
I just love cardinals in the winter – that bright red always makes my day.

Sunday, February 3rd
Annual Meeting day at church. I was voted onto the Vestry & I do believe that my transition to Church Lady is now complete: Vestry, Altar Guild, Choir, Eucharistic Lay Visitor…

This is what I did during the meeting (if you look at the table on the left in the picture above you can see that the hat is almost complete).

I finished the hat & promptly gave it away – how’s that for efficient?

Meanwhile, more cardinals…

Monday, February 4th
The State of the Bug – listening to the 6th Harry Potter book & Professor Dumbledore is getting ready to drink the potion…

Dr. M saw crows on his way home from school.

Tuesday, February 5th
A Trio of Squirrels.

Wednesday, February 6th
Here are a couple of the pictures from Dr. M’s second post this week (here). The angel is haunting and the photo bombing sheep is hilarious. A good photographic day.

Thursday, February 7th
Snowy farmland.

Frozen leaf.

“Seriously dude – you’re going to take my picture again?”

Friday, February 8th
Fun with birds: two starlings, one sparrow

Go to Mamma Fran’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. Your gift recipient is rightfully happy. The hat matched her coat perfectly!

  2. I love the old cemeteries with the sculptures. An elderly aunt with alzheimer's died last week and the funeral was last Wednesday. Not a sculpture, headstone or upright marker to be found. Only markers placed flush on the ground. Really, a very boring cemetery.

Love to see your week in pictures.

  3. Congrats to you (I think)... was only on the "V" once and walked out of a meeting of our then very dysfunctional church (toxic rector) never to return (well for two years anyhow). From that point forward, I fully refuse to be on the Vestry. Nope... don't want to be involved in the day to day poop. :c)

  13. How cool that you get to knit during a meeting! :)

  14. did you tell your friend you were going to make her a blue hat, or was it just happy co-incidence that she was wearing a matching coat?

Either way - nice knitting, and always good to see squirrells

  15. Thanks everyone! About the hat - I was working on the hat before the meeting & M commented on how she loved the color & that it would match her hat - so I just decided to give it to her when I was done :)

  16. I did the same thing for a lady at a bowling tournament I was in last weekend. I was actually making it for someone else and had asked her granddaughter what her favorite color was....but Joy kept bragging on the scarf I was making...so I gave it to her when I left. She loves it. I loved the photos this week...especially the one of you listening to Harry Potter.

  17. I like the frozen leaf, too, and the angel. Cardinals always get my juices flowing - did you know there are yellow cardinals? It's a genetic thing - they're amazing. Some are very pretty, but I still love the red ones the best.

I saw a cardinal in a tree close to my place this week. It's very unusual - maybe our trees and bushes are getting big enough that they have decided to check out the territory for new homes. I hope so!

Do you know what crows have when they get together? A caw-cus! LOL

  18. Church lady! hahaha I love it.
I think crocheting during any kind of meeting is the thing to do... I detest meetings BTW :)
Love the expressions on the sheep!

  19. So much to say!! Love the vibrant color of the cardinals against snow. The hat?? Oh my now THAT is how to give a gift!

  20. I went looking for the collage of cardinals thinking it might be in reference to the Pope's recent announcement (ha ha)...but seriously, it didn't link to cardinals. Still nice photos, but not the red birds.

Lovely hat. I think the sheep ate something that wasn't ripe yet!

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
