2013 Project 365 – Week Twenty-Six

As I sat down to work on this post I thought, “too bad we don’t have many pictures this week – I guess people will have to make do until next week when we’ll have a ton.” Ha! That was just crazy talk. Not only are there a lot of pictures, I decided to just do ONE collage. So just settle in for the duration people – you’ll be here a while.

Sunday, June 23rd
Our Easter lily bloomed! It’s just lovely. Big smiley faces in the Bug household.

We have these tiny thumbnail sized toads in our yard. This one is hard to see – it’s in the bottom right of the photo. I left Dr. M’s hand in there for comparison.

The moon!

Monday, June 24th
Dr. M was up really late & took this early morning bonus picture of the moon.

Goldfinch! I just love these bright yellow birds…

Here’s a better picture of one of the tiny toads – although it’s hard to tell, it’s as small as Dr. M’s thumbnail. So cute!

I was at work & heard some women squealing & looked up to see them pointing at the fountain. What was all the fuss about?

Made me smile!

I took a walk around the neighborhood & saw these signs that also made me smile.

The moon! (Yes, it was a two-moon day.)

Tuesday, June 25th
Squirrel.

I really like this early morning moon shot.

Geranium.

Wednesday, June 26th
Daisy Nation!

Gully-washer! It just POURED.

And this guy wasn’t too sure what he thought about that!

Thursday, June 27th
Dr. M was driving around trying to get my car to stall (because he ordered a part to see if that would fix the stalling problem & of course the car ran perfectly after that). Guess what he saw?

Love this flower.

Friday, June 28th
The State of the Bug: 1. TGIF! 2. I’m in my car instead of the Bugly! 3. Um, will my car make it all day without stalling? The answer is yes, it made it all day without stalling! 4. Ugh - my eyes are SO PUFFY. Need to get to bed sooner!

Dr. M took pictures of our daylilies – they’ve started blooming!

This was my view out of my office window all day. LOVE the fluffy clouds & blue sky. Can you see the reflection in the building? Pretty cool view I must say.

Saturday, June 29th
The tomatoes are coming right along.

Flowers in the garden – zinnias & marigolds.

Little downy woodpecker – so cute.

Go to Mamma Fran’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. ...I thought, “too bad we don’t have many pictures this week..." Gaaahhh...you scared me there for a second...until I scrolled down and got to the second line in your post.

Your first lily picture reminds of of a young bird sitting in a nest, as mama bird comes back with food in her mouth - you know, where all the chicks have their mouths wide open. And the wet bird on Wednesday looks absolutely hilarious!

Your picture looks wonderful - and I'm glad your car is no longer stalling. That could become a pain, if it kept happening.

    1. I seem to have intimidate the car by threatening to work on it :-)

  2. WONDERFUL that you didn't have many pictures this week. ☺

  3. Wow - American gold finches are really YELLOW. Ours (in UK) are much duller, but very special when you do see them. They're also pretty reclusive around here. xx

    1. The males are VERY yellow, yes. Compared to the ever-present house sparrows, the gold finches are a bit shy, but we have seen them more frequently this year than last. I think they like the yellow feeder :-)

  4. So glad your Easter lily bloomed! I'm always amazed at the degree of detail you achieve with your moon pictures -- all the craters and crags on the surface.

    1. Thanks, Steve! The trick I use most often is simply manually adjusting the shutter speed. The basic "full" moon rule is the "sunny sixteen" setting: ISO 200, f/16, shutter speed 200. I start there, and now with the 300mm lens, I'm pretty happy with the detail.

  5. I want those toads! How devastatingly cute they are! I was just remarking to Rick that we haven't had toads in our yard ever. (Of course, I blame it on You-Know-Who.) And I haven't seen a lightning bug yet this summer; have you?

  11. Your photos are as usual--many and marvellous. Never tire of them.
I will comment on the unusual one--the view out your office, lovely and fun to see what you look at all day.

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
