2013 Project 365 – Week Forty-Eight

As you can see from the following photos, our week went to the birds, as so often happens in winter – maybe because we can see them better in the leafless trees? I only took three pictures this week – and one of those is on my Wordless Wednesday post – so Dr. M gets all the acclaim this week (as per usual – ha!).
Sunday, November 24th
Sparrows waiting on Dr. M to stop taking pictures so they can get to the feeders.

Monday, November 15th
Morning moon…

We got a little bit of snow Monday night.

Tuesday, November 26th
These ducks crack me up, every time. If Dr. M wants to be 100% sure to get a laugh out of me he brings me pictures of these ducks.

Here it is only Tuesday & already this turkey has had ENOUGH.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I was in our basement at work boxing up some files & had a hot flash. Since I didn’t have even a rubber band to tie up my hair I used this binder clip. Ha!

Wednesday, November 27th
The Board of Directors chowing down.

Thursday, November 28th
Happy Thanksgiving! We’re grateful that Pinky the geranium is still blooming away.

Dr. M was going to bake a ham for our holiday meal, but he wasn’t feeling well so I ate leftover meatloaf. Was I sad? No way – YUM! I did feel a little bad eating it in front of him…

I stole this photo off of my Aunt Lila’s facebook page. We didn’t go to NC for the annual feast with my dad’s side of the family. I was a little sad not to be there, but I think they had plenty of folks without us! And it was nice to have a long weekend at home.

Friday, November 29th
Dr. M was feeling a lot better so he started decorating for Christmas. :)

Saturday, November 30th
I was at a funeral for most of the day & when I got home we had a tree! And a new star. And our old wreath & flag & door hanger… Dr. M loves Christmas – which makes me excited about it every year.

Go to Mamma Fran’s blog here to see the blogs of all the other Project 365 participants. Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. Those ducks crack me up, too. I'm glad Dr. M. is feeling better and that he hasn't lost any of his holiday cheer.

    1. I think his holiday cheer is just gathering steam - we might even have inflatable decorations in the yard by Christmas!

  2. The sparrows are sweet. And very inventive hair clip. I used to carry a folding fan around with me.

    1. I should do the fan thing. Although that particular day I would have needed a giant electric fan to cool me off - ha!

  3. Wow, that's a big Thanksgiving group!! Love the little sparrows, all sitting in a circle. And the binder clip is a look! I think you should wear it to work one day.

I'm impressed that you've decorated for Christmas. Bravo to Dr. M. I am not even close to thinking about Christmas decorations!

    1. It is a big group! And we never get to spend as much time as we'd like with each person...

  4. The birds with the berries are SO pretty!!

Sorry you didn't have the Thanksgiving you were expecting, but it sounds like you made the best of it.

Good for the NC crew for getting a group pic! Tough to wrangle that many kids. :)

    1. My Aunt Lila does the group shot every year & I'm always amazed at how she's able to pull it off!

  5. Love the sparrows and the reminder that "His eye is on the sparrow, and i know He watches me."
Can you count the Thanksgiving crowd or are they "sin cuenta" (without count) sounds like 50 in Spanish--one of my old classroom puns/jokes, probably a bad one.

  6. That first pic is beautiful.

Aren't you the ingenious one, inventing a paper clip hair thingie. A woman has to do what a woman has to do.

I love leftover meatloaf sandwiches. Yum.

    1. Isn't it? When I saw the pictures on the camera after Mike took them I just sighed in delight :)

  7. Welllll.... The binder clip does work but I'll tell you a secret! If you don't have a hair band but need your hair back in a jiff, separate it into three sections like you would for a making a braid but DO NOT separate it at the bottom. Leave the bottom all tangled together. Braid carefully and when you get to the end tuck the hair into one of the loops formed when braiding. It works in a pinch every time.

And if you don't understand what I am saying cuz' I'm not sure if I explained it all that clearly, let me know and I'll find the video for you. :)

    1. OK, I tried it, but you're going to have to send the video. But just know this: I am HOPELESS with my hair! Trying to do something on the back of my head? Makes me crazy!

  8. I completely understand the duck thing. A front view of ducks makes me laugh every single time. Just like seeing wiener dogs makes me laugh every single time. Every. Single. Time.

  9. the ducks were great fun and i think Pinky is a great name for a geranium. We don't have thanksgiving here - so its outside my field of knowledge i'm afraid

    1. I feel sad that you don't have a huge eating holiday right before Christmas. I'm kidding - I'm envious! Ha!

  10. I love any kind of duck pictures - must be they just bring out the giggles in a lot of people. I especially like the ones that look more upright (for lack of a better word) than the other ones. They remind me a little of penguins.

We still have to get up our Christmas decorations. Maybe we'll start tomorrow. We're a little behind, having been gone for almost two weeks over Thanksgiving.

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
