2014 Project 365 – Week Eleven

This week the Bug household moved into the 21st century. I had been resisting getting a smart phone (Too expensive! Too tempting!), but with my new church & work duties  Dr. M decided that I must have one. The day after he ordered it I got approved for a work iPhone. Ha! So now we both have smart phones. Next week I’ll show a picture of how this one gadget is going to transform my purse :)

We were also sick this week – maybe with the norovirus? Dr. M got sick on Tuesday & had a very uncomfortable 24 hours – fever & other unpleasant stuff. I decided to wait until Saturday to get sick, but it’s now Sunday night & I’m already feeling much better – no fever today.

Sunday, March 9th
I feel like something is watching me. Can you see something watching me?

"I tawt I taw a puddy tat!"

"I did! I did taw a puddy tat!" (The neighbor’s cat does like to hang out in our back yard – for obvious reasons. But we’ve never actually seen him catch anything.)

The moon!

Monday, March 10th
My lucky day! A double yolk egg on my breakfast sandwich.

Dr. M took this lovely picture as he was out & about on Monday.

Tuesday, March 11th
I used some birthday money to buy a puzzle. No, I don’t have a yarn problem – why would you say so?

The construction crew works valiantly to get rid of the last of the snow in our back yard.

It was a glorious day! Dr. M took a picture of the back of my head. When I posted it on Facebook someone asked how I got my hair to stay that way. I use these twisty pins – but results vary. I often look like I have feathers sprouting from my head.

Wednesday, March 12th
Squirrels in our back yard – imagine!

Thursday, March 13th
We got MORE snow Wednesday night and Thursday morning. That’s the last of it, right?

Friday, March 14th
My first selfie with the new iPhone. I think there’s going to be a learning curve here.

Dr. M was showing me the camera feature on his Droid. See, you can change the camera aspect & take a picture with the front of the phone pointed at you, instead of the way I was trying to do it in the car. Much easier!

Saturday, March 15th
I wasn’t feeling very well today, but since it was so lovely Dr. M & I went out for a drive. Then we decided to take a short walk out to a covered bridge near us. It was so nice to get out in nature!

I took this picture of Dr. M doing what he does best…

Then he took this picture of me while I was looking at my phone trying to see if I’d actually gotten a picture of him (I keep hitting the video function by accident).

Love on a bridge…

And then we found spring! Yay!

Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. I love the picture of Dr. M walking into the light on the covered bridge! And the spring flowers...

Now I have to check my phone how it works with taking selfies. I've never attempted on with my phone. I'm the "camera-on-tripod+self-timer" kinda gal.

You made me curious about how your new iPhone will transform your purse. I'm hoping to get some ideas, since I have a love/hate relationship with my purse. It's big, it's heavy, it has everything but the kitchen sink in it, and it causes me to have neck and back aches.

    1. I just did a post - but I didn't show my actual purse. Oops.

  2. My phone has two cameras...one 10 megapixel for taking photos that faces away, and one 2 megapixel facing the user, for Skyping and such. But in camera mode, I can flip between them, so I can take a selfie with the 2 megapixel. Her phone camera did a great job on that bridge pic!

  3. Congrats on the smart phone! I think that will be right up your alley and you'll be a pro in no time! Its starting to look spring-y....I do believe it is coming. Nice choice on the puzzle....the lines should prove to be helpful...do you have a place where you can leave it out?

  4. We're one of those tiny dots that don't get cell phone reception so no smart phones for us. But my iPod Touch has all the features except for the phone. You will love it.

    1. There are pretty big areas in rural OH with problematic cell service, at least according to my provider's map. Happily, the long corridor from where I work to where The Bug works is pretty well covered. Our little house is in a good spot, as well, though we can use our cable/wi-fi sitting around home. We are loving our new gadgets!

    1. Well, it was sort of spring like for a minute here, but now we're into chilly rain. Woot?

  7. This has been a long miserable winter, even down here.

  8. All great pix! Your iPhone will change your life. Mine did. I especially lean on the Calendar feature to organize me and keep me on track. The Alerts function is so helpful. I, too, shot Unintentional Video for a long time (fat thumbs), but pretty soon, I got it figured out. Can you send back your Personal phone and get work to pay for your iPhone even if you use it for personal reasons as well?

(Totally getting the yarn addiction. What is it with yarn?)

    1. I'll be able use my work phone as my primary phone with very few issues. So my little pay-as-you go flip phone can live at home. But Mike is keeping the other phone we ordered (a droid). It's makes us a divided household but I think we can manage :)

  9. Delightful photos, again!
Smart move to smart-phone for two very smart people!

  10. We are covered in snow. Can you imagine? That's not supposed to be the way around here this time of year.

I do love a covered bridge, but most especially a red one.

Ha! Ha! to the puddy tat! Very funny.

We have finally decided to get smart phones. Our kids can't believe we are still in the dark ages.

    1. I would never have done it if my boss & Dr. M hadn't nudged me - and I used to be the gadget girl! I got a Palm before any of my friends did :)

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
