2014 Project 365 – Week Twelve

Apparently it’s now spring. And it did feel like it was getting warmer, so I switched to a shoulder bag (I don’t bother in the winter because they won’t stay on my shoulder). And now it’s 34 degrees. Sigh. March March March Ms. Bug – it’s MARCH!

Sunday, March 16th
The moon!

Monday, March 17th
If I stay really still I’ll bet he can’t see me.

One of Dr. M’s students made him a trebuchet! He’s had the most fun with it.

Tuesday, March 18th
The Junkyard Buck & his harem.

Geese on a dam.

I filled this out with so much hope in my heart. Look at the two teams I have listed in the final game. As you might imagine I no longer have any hope (well, about the NCAA basketball tournament – I have plenty of hope for other things!).

Wednesday, March 19th
You never know where yarn might end up in our house!

 Thursday, March 20th
Still trying to figure out how to take selfies with my new phone. Results vary.

If I stay really still I’ll bet he can’t see me.

Robin!!

Dr. M’s new shirt. Makes me laugh.

Friday, March 21st
Here’s the progress on my puzzle. I set it up in an empty office at work. I’m getting there!

The moon!

Saturday, March 22nd
If I stay really still I’ll bet he can’t see me. Heh.

Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. I still have to laugh about the fact that first I thought of the font Trebuchet when I saw Dr. M's contraption. I actually had to google it and then found out that the font was named after the medieval siege engine: the person who named the font thought it was a great name for a font that launches words across the Internet. Hah!

Silly animals...everyone knows that you have to stay really still and close your eyes so that he can't see you. And I'm thinking you have pretty good results with your selfies!

    1. Ha! Good name, indeed. Actually, they weren't really trying to hide, and that cardinal was singing his tailfeathers off!

  2. Your puzzle is looking good. Wish it had a guarantee to turn to real wool when it is finished. The colours and textures are gorgeous. I love that trebuchet! Dr. M is having a blast with it and it looks to be loads of fun. The birds all look puffed up and cold. I hope the weather warms up soon. You have a great week too. Thank you for sharing, Dana.

  3. Is that a...CHRISTMAS DECORATION?

  4. My bracket still looks a little better than yours, though the Wichita State loss today ruined my championship game. I picked Florida over Wichita. Florida could still win it all though. I wonder. If they do could I persuade Buffet to give me a tiny part of his billion dollars?

  5. Always remember that when taking a "selfie" if you stand really still we can see you.

  6. Is a trebuchet the same thing as a catapult? That's what it looks like from here, anyway.

The jigsaw puzzle is looking good!

    1. It's a counterbalance catapult, Steve...more efficient than torsion catapults, etc. It was a staple of Middle Ages siege warfare, because it can be set to fire round stones in a fairly flat arch to smash holes in castle walls, or to fire various kinds of projectiles in high arch over castle walls. Today, they are used in numerous pumpkin chunkin' contests, as well as at least one fruitcake chunkin' contest, lol!

  7. That first moon shot is amazing!! So, you made that much progress while working on it during your lunch breaks?

The problem with your bracket is that you didn't have enough faith in UCONN (10 min from us). :)

  9. Perhaps if Bradley Cooper can take the selfie for you ...

  10. Ha! Now I understand Trebuchet!
Beautiful robin. i saw a bunch of them huddled together yesterday, confused. Spring flowers are still hiding, confused.
Took a picture yesterday of one confused Canadian goose that stood still, motionless, alone. Pobrecito.
Wool puzzle's coming along. Love it!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
