Oh it’s AUGUST already. Sigh.
Back when we lived in an apartment I didn’t care a great deal whether the days
were short or long, but now I so resent the losing of the light. I know, I
know, it’s still summer… but…

was so VERY grateful to a couple of my book club friends (a fierce
mother-daughter team) for finding this yarn for me! It’s one of the colors I’m
using for one of the afghans I’m making & I was fretting about it being discontinued.
They were on a mission to find it & they succeeded. Woot!

These doves – they make me laugh.
Apparently one of them pretty much landed on the other one. I can imagine him
saying, “Hey baby, come here often?” And then she just slides away… Ha!

tiny.

ordered a banner to put outside our church. I love love love it! It’s a product
of the UCC church – thank goodness they’re sharing! I’m gonna order a tshirt

Are your hummingbirds territorial? One of ours (I think it's always the same one) is a positive terror, driving the others away when they come in for a drink or a rest in HIS tree.
ReplyDeleteYES! They fight like Snoopy and the Red Baron over turf. The little male thinks he's the king of all of Mr. Ken's feeders (he has at least four). The female likes to hang out in our yard...it's more peaceful. The intensity picks up the closer it gets to migration time.
DeleteAnother lot of work here Dana. The appraisal form, or whatever it's called is something I'd hate to have to use. Thank goodness all that sort of stuff is long, long gone pour moi.

ReplyDeleteI'm always surprised that people start complaining in August about the end of summer. As a kid, I was used to summer vacations starting as late as August 8, so August in my mind is still in the middle of summer.
We saw a hummingbird last night and felt bad because we didn't put a feeder out this year. Our minds were elsewhere, but next year...
