Tuesdays are now Mondays...

I have a heavy heart today. I found out yesterday that my boss's boss, who was just recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, passed away on Friday. He was such a good man, a great boss, and leaves behind four high school/college age children & his beloved wife.

I'm also sad about Daddy's wife, Amy. She's been ill for some time and this week found out some more hard news about her heart. It's hard watching people you love suffer.

On the other end of the spectrum, Dr. M's father is doing well - he did have a bit of skin cancer on his scalp, but his surgeon removed all of it and told him to start wearing a hat when he was outdoors.

I'm apparently having trouble getting it together to post on Mondays. Especially this week after the Holy Week Marathon. There was Wednesday night choir practice, Maundy Thursday (soup meal and foot washing), Good Friday, spending a couple of hours on Saturday setting up the altar for Easter, and then Easter. I tried to take a nap Sunday afternoon, but I kept waking myself up snoring. What the heck! Anyway, here are some pictures, plus there will be a surprise later this week.

Good Friday

Easter Sunday

My poor trashed bracket. And now I'm in the uncomfortable position of either pulling for UNC (remember, I'm ABC - anyone but Carolina) or Notre Dame - which is just wrong!

G-Man had a rough night...

I mowed for the first time this season!

Miss Pinky's verbena started blooming - she's such a good mom :)

Dr. M caught Papa Cardinal mid-song.

My latest afghan squares & a progress update. I didn't care all that much for this particular pattern, but mixed in with the other squares, it's not too bad.

Now I'm off to respond to your comments on my last two posts. I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to read posts in a few days, but I'll get there eventually! How are you guys doing?

  1. I'm sorry about the bad news for your Dad's wife and your boss's boss. My Dad died of a brain tumor, too. At the time of his diagnosis they gave him 6 - 12 months, and he passed away after 9 months.

G-Man looks like he was on a wild drinking spree!

I've been stressed, tired, and exhausted. The three-day weekend helped a bit, but now it's back to the same old grind. I haven't had a vacation in 3 1/2 years...maybe that's why I'm so worn out.

  2. That certainly is sad news about these illnesses. I hope you're taking care of yourself and not burning your candle at both ends.

  3. Times are more stressful when people in your life circles are suffering, especially around the coming of a significant event like Easter week. Coping becomes more difficult, more of a struggle. Still, you are blessed with Ms. Pinky and her beautiful verbena. I will pray for Amy and the family of your boss's boss. Take care and I hope some warm spring sunshine finds it's way to you this week.

  4. I always hate to hear of the loss of someone & the people they leave behind.

I love the colors of that first picture of the granny squares - those blues are so pretty!

  5. I'm sorry about your boss's boss, and so very sorry to hear about Amy's problems. Life gets difficult and scary when a serious health issue rears it's ugly head. Good for Dr. M's father, though. H has had many skin cancers removed at this point, and never, ever leaves the house without a hat and sunscreen.

  6. still like the turquoise and black best. Sorry to hear Amy is failing. I feel like I have a rock in my right eye but no one can see anything. and all I have to write about is working on drawings.

  7. So sorry to hear bad news about those you love. It's hard to feel so helpless in such situations.

Now put on your big-girl panties and start cheering for the TarHeels. After all the rhetoric about our new law we need something to cheer about. And to give us something to make us less ashamed to say we are from North Carolina.

  8. Well, couldn't you have helped out your neighbors and picked Mr. G up and set him a-right?

  9. I've gotten old enough now to understand the weight of losing people and seeing someone suffer. It's something I wouldn't wish on my worse enemy.

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
