Still Here...

I can't believe that my last post was May 11th!! A lot of things have happened while I've been away - trips to NC, church stuff (Pentecost!), work, flowers, rereading the J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts) Eve Dallas series. Frankly, it's that last one that's kept me away from blogging (and reading your blogs - so sorry!). I'm up to book 16 in the series.

When I dive deeply into reading books that usually means that something is going on that I want to avoid. Books are such fabulous travel agents! And therapists, and old friends... As comforting as a bite of my mother's banana sandwich, and as effective as a tranquilizer dart.

I'm not exactly sure what this binge is about - because that's the point, right? Read read read - no thinking allowed! And I've been afraid to write here because, yes, now I am having to think. But not too much. I'm not ready to address my disquiet just yet.

So, here are a few random pictures from our yard. I'll bombard you with crochet later. And I promise to read all of your posts, even if I don't manage to comment.

  5. Oh, those peonies are gorgeous. I LOVE them. I have white ones, but I'm going to get some pink ones before next spring. I hope that your disquiet quiets down for you. I certainly know how that is.

    1. We put these in last June, so this is our first spring enjoying them! They bloom in mid-May here in central OH and usually last through Memorial Day. We have two shades of pink (the darker one bloomed first...this is the lighter shade). I highly recommend pink!

  6. Your escape route is healthier than mine. Things will get better...for both of us. Been a helluva year.

  9. My two great escapes are reading and my music. Definitely both soothe the savage beast inside me. It's rare for me to re-read something. But there are some books that I read at least annually; The Poisonwood Bible, To Kill a Mockingbird, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. And I do go to my favorite poetry collections for solace as well.

Hope whatever it is soon passes.

    1. I didn't know anyone but me still reads A Tree Grows in Brookly. I first read it in grade school, in a Readers' Digest edition, and still love it.

  10. I miss peonies so much -- especially around Memorial Day, when they bloomed at the gravesites, and could be spectacular in a really good year. I like them all, although the white and pink are my favorites.

I've been missing you, and peeking in now and then. Glad to see you're still here!

  12. Those roses and peonies are gorgeous. Thanks for the kind comment you left on my blog. I am so pleased that my efforts are at last paying off, and very grateful for the help I have had from my son and daughter. There is still plenty to do but it isn't so noticeable any more!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
