It Wasn't Really a Contest, But...

Since Shoreacres (go here to read her latest post - well worth the trip!) was the only person to guess correctly which square had the wrong yarn, I've decided that she gets a prize! What, you would have tried harder if you'd known it was a contest? Well, I'll have to see if I can create a new contest at some future date. Stay tuned!

Anyway, this should more clearly show what was wrong. The flower petal next to the gray is sapphire blue instead of teal. You can see the teal sandwiched between the two black rows in the other square.

The difference is a little more glaring in person, but I'm not sure that the recipient of the blanket will notice until I point it out (and point it out I must because that's who I am as a person).

Here's another little crochet project I worked on - a dishcloth & some pot scrubbies as a housewarming gift for a coworker. I made myself a pot scrubby & it works really well! (OK, I made it for her, but it was a misshapen mess so I kept it for myself & made a different one for her.)

Finally, our neighbor gave us a hibiscus last year. Frankly, I forgot what kind of flower it was since we received it after flowering season. What a lovely surprise!

  1. Is that a hibiscus or Rose of Sharon? Yours are still blooming? I am jealous. With the lack of rain...mine quit trying. They bloomed gloriously in June and early July.....but all good things must come to an end.

  2. Heaven help you if it's a Rose of Sharon. We are still trying to get rid of the ones we THOUGHT we got rid of TWENTY YEARS AGO. Those things are peskier than mint.

  3. what a beautiful hibiscus. we have a red one. I had a crocheted pot scrubber which I loved and used until it was an unraveled mess. it was thin and flexible. a friend gave me one that was thick, almost round, and I didn't care for it at all.

  5. I didn't respond to the yarn question because I wasn't sure what i was looking for. Now I see it.
I crochet scrubbies from net bags that come with onions, clementines, etc., etc. My DIL saves all of her net bags for me ;-)

    1. Pleasantly surprised by the hibiscus! Didn't think it would make, as it never got more than two feet tall, but its blossoms are gorgeous! I can't see what I'm typing...please don't judge...I am a skilled grammarian during the day. :)

  8. A pot scrubby. How neat.
That is one beautiful hibiscus. I just love those. They grow everywhere in Myrtle Beach.

  9. That's a beautiful hibiscus! Be warned: Deer and aphids love them.

I could never use a hand-crocheted pot scrubby! I think I'd put it on a shelf for decoration. :)

    1. Oh, and I wanted to tell you, I actually KNOW the guy who wrote that book about Florida you linked to in my comments section. He writes for the St. Pete Times, where I used to freelance. Looks like a hilarious book! The nation never tires of reading about Florida's foibles.

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
