2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve
I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...

I wrote this bit of fluff before we heard our news about Dr. M's mom. I decided to go ahead & post it anyway. I’m joining a group ...

First, I'd like to talk about my funeral experience today. The singing was fine – I'm no Susan Boyle, but I'll do. When we...
I saw my first goldfinch of the fall today! But, the sunflowers still are slim pickings, except for the common ones that bloom all summer. I have to ask -- what IS that creature above the skunk? Gopher? Groundhog? It's cute as the dickens, but somehow I have a sense it might not be friendly to lawns.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how a small patch of ground can have so much activity? I love the goldfinch and the woodchuck (or groundhog -- is that the same thing?) and the skunk.
ReplyDeletegorgeous photos. love the wild life.
ReplyDeleteThat first shot is good enough to be included in a bird calendar.
ReplyDeleteThe look the Praying Mantis gave the camera was exactly the same look I got after recognizing a local news lady in the grocery store early one morning. I was just slightly startled at recognizing her, said hello and moved on. Her demeanor was downright chilly, like I was a bug she took a moment to consider either ignoring or eating.
ReplyDeleteWe've gotten a lot of goldfinches this year. They are the most cheerful birds. Love the shot of the praying mantis. Aren't they awesome insects.
ReplyDeleteOkay. A skunk?!?!
You should just make a sign with the word "zoo" in it and charge admission!
ReplyDeleteIs that first bird a goldfinch or a wild canary? The ones we get I've come to know are called the Lesser Goldfinch and they're not as gaudy as yours.
ReplyDeleteDr. M's lense is powerful pretty!
ReplyDeleteMaybe he should go into photography full time!
