2020 Project 365 – Week Twenty-six

Hello out there! I’m feeling a smidge more alert than I was when I wrote last week’s post. A smidge. There is no guarantee, however, that I will be any more coherent. I can’t wait to find out – can you?

Sunday, June 21st

Happy Father’s Day! Spent some time with Daddy & Sue, but did I take a single picture? No I did not. Instead you get this test run for the new scarf (excuse my face – Sunday is a makeup free zone). I don’t know – I’m not at all sold on it. However, it does sort of match those yellow pants. Anyone else in love with it & need it in their life?

Monday, June 22nd

It turns out that our mystery plant in the wildflower bed is bee balm! I love it!

Tuesday, June 23rd

Got my hair did! Basically she toned down the brassy highlights & gave me more layers. I like it!

Walked into the office to find this escape in progress.

Wednesday, June 24th

Starting a new project & was organizing all the colors of this yarn that I have.

Wildflowers!

The Roy got a haircut! He’s a whole new dog! It turns out that he isn’t as chunky as we thought – he was mostly fur. His owner says that she didn’t recognize him when she went to pick him up – and he has a lot more energy.

Thursday, June 25th

Still working on my project. I was playing around with color & design (note: not my spiritual gift). I’m going to make one of these four designs using 2” square blocks.

The double orange daylilies are gorgeous this year!

Friday, June 26th

I was about to take a big ole bite out of my breakfast burrito & realized that I was still wearing my mask. Oops.

It was Take your Dog to Work Day! I was kind of obsessed with Pebbles the Siberian husky.

Now that I’m wearing a mask at work every day I decided to order an extra one for me from a blog friend, along with a couple for Daddy & Sue. Dr. M tried out the one for Daddy – love it!

Saturday, June 27th

Spent some of my morning on the deck working on the new project. Can you tell which of the four designs I decided to use?

I did a walkabout to check on the flowers. My two little wildflower boxes are producing such delicate little blossoms. The big wildflower bed on the other hand – not very delicate at all!

I am about at my wits end trying to figure out why people are so belligerent about wearing masks. It makes no sense. It reminds me of the O Brother Where Art there Quote: “It’s afool that looks for logic in the chambers of the human heart.” Ah well, I’ll just keep wearing my mask and waiting for a vaccine. What is your state of mind these days?

  1. lower left. and then there's the ones that wear their mast below their nose. I'm like...why bother? Trump made the whole thing political by refusing to wear one. and those idiots call us snowflakes for wearing one.

  3. Bee balm! That's awesome! We tried to grow some here and it just never got launched, although I think we planted it at a bad time. (November, as I recall!)

I don't get the mask resistance either. I didn't wear one for a long time but we've never been officially asked to, here in the UK. It wasn't any kind of political statement. I finally started just because everyone in the states is doing it, and it's gradually catching on more and more here as awareness grows.

  4. I really like your new haircut. I need one so badly. All my layers are gone.

As soon as the pandemic hit, I asked my quilting buddy in MD to send me four masks. Mine are all blue batik fabric, her choice for me. I'm astonished at how this simple thing has become such a lightning rod.

Some jobs require uniforms, or goggles, or steel-toed boots for safety. Signs at stores and restaurants say things like "No shirt, no shoes, no service" and you don't hear people blabbing about their Constitutional Rights then. It's expected that one will be clothed in public. Is that a Constitutional violation of their rights, too?

What a load of baloney. Wear the mask and shut up already.

  5. I don't get the mask thing either.
Your wildflowers are beautiful. I had a perennial garden once upon a time, but our yard is too shady for one here. I loved how I would walk around the corner of the house and all sorts of things would be buzzing over, around and through that flower bed. Enjoy yours.

  6. Lovely flowers at your house. When you figure out the problem people have with masks, let me know. Honestly, people here bitch, piss, and moan about wearing masks you'd think it was duct tape wrapped around their faces! What will be the end product produced from your design?

  7. I am about at my wits end trying to figure out why people are so belligerent about wearing masks.

I'll be brutally honest and write that most of my coworkers are near fascist idiots who at least entertain the worst in conspiracy theories, if not actually believe them. And one of their favorites is how worthless it is to wear surgical masks over an illness they do not believe is that bad.

There is one guy who appears to have some sense and is a decent enough person even though he admits to watching Tucker Carlson. Even he gets weird about wearing surgical masks and feels it's an affront to his freedom.

I haven't a clue about this behavior other than it goes hand-in-glove with their distrust of science and the belief the mainstream media is part of a liberal conspiracy to take away freedom and Jesus.

All I can say is thank God Covid isn't as bad as previous pandemics because while we're in a terrible place right now, it could be far worse given the attitudes.

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
