2020 Project 365 – Week Fifty-two

Merry Christmas! Well, Merry Two Days After Christmas. I trust we all made it through unscathed? I still have a few gifts to distribute (due to them not being here yet), but I think we had a pretty successful holiday. It was EXTRA low key – so much so that after Sunday there aren’t very many photos. Also, I haven’t read blogs since Wednesday, but I’ll get around to everyone today or tomorrow.

Sunday, December 20th
I made banana pomegranate apple bread! It was really good! Although I might leave out the pomegranates next time – they didn’t really add to the flavor & that’s a waste of pomegranates to me.

Here are my coworker gifts for this year – pretty cute! I had to learn Tunisian crochet to make the little scarves. It was ok, but I definitely need to get better at it before I would attempt anything larger.

I also finally made us one of the ornaments that I made last year. It is a little bit on the homely side. I really struggle with pairing colors – obviously! The biggest problem is that I LOVE that green, but it rarely actually looks very good mixed with other colors.

Monday, December 21st
Dr. M made zucchini fries in the air fryer. They were really good!

Tuesday, December 22nd
The only picture today it this random selfie. I have no idea. Maybe I was checking that my hair wasn’t crazy? I look a little maniacal.

Wednesday, December 23rd
One of the lilies in my anniversary bouquet finally opened up. It’s gorgeous!

Thursday, December 24th
We did a very brief gift exchange with Daddy & Sue. On a whim, I had made a Mickey (Minnie?) Mouse outfit for Sue’s doll. They gave me this thermometer & could not have been more excited! A hypochondriac during a pandemic? DREAM PRESENT!

Friday, December 25th
We took lunch to Dr. M’s dad, rambled around the county looking at sheep, and otherwise had a lovely quiet Christmas Day.

Saturday, December 26th
I’m trying to make a beanie, but this looks more like a place mat. It’s not becoming the expected bowl shape. I might have to frog it & try again with a smaller hook. Stay tuned!

People, I have missed having a big crochet project this year. I’m thinking about either doing another temperature blanket (in some style that won’t end up being 9 feet long), or another granny square blanket like I’ve done in the past. Do any of you have opinions on this? Do tell!

P.S. In case you missed it, I posted our annual Christmas poem on Christmas Eve. I was pretty proud of this one.

  1. Actually, I like the color combination on the ornament. I think the green looks great with those other colors.

I spent Christmas day alone, at home, and was happy to do so. I've had enough excitement for a while. Tomorrow, I get to go back to work, and that makes me pretty darned happy, too. It's amazing how good routine can look once it's been disrupted! Besides, it's another four day week. That's fine by me, too.

    1. I like the color combo, too! For some reason, the state of NC took th, f, and m off, and by default so did Bug's employer. So I have to put up with, er, get to spend another day at home with her, lol. And she'll be home on Friday, but I'll be taking care of Dad that day.

    2. I kind of like a quiet Christmas - I'm usually stressed out trying to make sure everyone is happy. I like getting back into my routine too!

  2. How about a form-fitting car cover? (For your knitting project.)

    1. Hahaha! Actually, this probably WOULD work for that!

  3. Your little scarf-wearing ornaments are cute and make a nice gift. I could even imagine a whole tree full of them.

The cats are glad that Rick is finally back to work today. They hate having their/our routine disrupted. When he's home, they spend most of the day in the bedroom, being resentful.

    1. Thank you! Oh cats - they are such royalty in our midst :)

  4. I think that ornament looks really good -- I don't see a matching problem with the colors. I never realized Tunisian crochet was any different from standard crochet!

    1. Tunisian crochet seems very worky for me & I'm not sure I like the results any better (although it does produce something that looks more knitted if you want that).

  5. All the ornaments turned out very cute. As for the bread - leave out the bananas. I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to be put into anything -- ever!

  6. that bread looks yummy. I usually resist the kitchen gadget of the year but I may have to get an air fryer.

    1. We resisted for a long time, but we have enjoyed this one a lot. It helps that we got the kind that doubles as a toaster oven, so we didn't have to find extra counter space for it.

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
