2025 Project 365 – Week Thirty-five

Well it’s practically fall now and as per usual I am in a snit about it. Where is the light? Where is the heat? (I am well aware that the heat is not really gone yet.) I’m not a drama queen, but I play one on TV. Okay, yes, I am a drama queen.

Sunday, August 24th

Dr. M made an excellent chicken thigh dinner tonight - yum! It was so pretty too.

Monday, August 25th
She strikes again!

I took this photo to try to retrain my brain. I know I’ve lost weight - I practically have a whole new wardrobe. But I still look down and see thunder thighs. So I took this picture to remind me that I am NOT the same size I was, no matter what my brain tries to say.

Tuesday, August 26th

Trying to track down a mystery. I remembered that I’ve had a kidney ultrasound in the past - before my first hip surgery. I reached out to the hospital that did the scan, but they only keep their records for 10 years (this was 14 years ago). So other than an offhand comment on my blog from back then (It was my second ultrasound in two weeks – this one for the uterus area (the first one didn't show any kidney issues).), we’ll never know what it showed. But I’m guessing my kidneys were closer to the same size. Maybe. I’m starting to think that medical tests are just smoke & mirrors at this point!

Wednesday, August 27th

From the interwebs: This square turned up in my memories from 7 years ago. The blanket it was for hangs on my office wall, so I looked for the square, to admire my work. Couldn’t find it. I looked & looked & it just wasn’t there (you can look too on the second picture). People. That blanket has been on my office wall for YEARS & I just now noticed that it’s backwards? I guess it’s nice that the back looks as neat as the front.

Thursday, August 28th

Dr. M says: A mess was made, but the food was good! It’s who we are as a couple: I do most of the cooking, I clean and oil the cast iron, Dana does some cooking and washes a lot of dishes, just not my heavy-a$$ skillets and dutch ovens

Friday, August 29th

Dr. M went to see his dad & found that he had a wound that had become infected. He took him to urgent care where they lanced & drained the wound & then packed & dressed it. Pop is a diabetic (although otherwise in excellent health) so Dr. M takes his wounds very seriously (note: they went back today to have the packing removed and things look great - the PA told Dr. M that he was doing a great job).

Saturday, August 30th

End of summer bloomers.

I finished the last square of the blanket I’ve been working on (hallelujah!). It might not be as big as some folks thought I should make it, but I. Am. Done. Once that square is dry I’ll start joining them together & then figure out what border I want. I already have an idea for the next blanket - a total stashbuster that is very different than any I’ve made so far. We shall see.

Tomorrow is labor day, and I am going with Dr. M to his dad’s house to do some work. I’m excited because we’re planning to get BBQ for lunch. It’s the little things people! What little things are getting you through the madness?

2025 Project 365 – Week Thirty-four

I had about eleventy-million health appointments (slight exaggeration) this week and that made it a very weird week.

Sunday, August 17th

Just kicking back and relaxing at Dad & Sue’s.

Monday, August 18th

No photo.

Tuesday, August 19th

My dental hygienist said that I didn’t have a lot of tartar, but the tartar I had was VERY STRONG. Ha! Winning at dentist!

I mowed! It’s been a while - Dr. M has mostly been doing it this year, but his cold/cough keeps hanging on. I had a great time!

Wednesday, August 20th

I went to pick up my water bottle to take a big ole slug of water and picked up my phone instead. I almost had it in my mouth before I realized (this is a reenactment of the phone’s eye view).

Thursday, August 21st

I got a new topper in honor of my oldest great-nephew. He’s a dinosaur fanatic. It’s supposed to be a Halloween topper, but I’ll wear it year round because aren’t these dinosaurs adorable?

Friday, August 22nd

A new orange cat is hanging around Mike’s dad’s house.

I wasn’t exactly sure what was going on with my pseudo-bun. But I love the picture so much I made it my Facebook profile picture. It’s giving annoyed librarian (with apologies to Steve Reed).

Saturday, August 24th

Eating fish for brain health.

I know that none of you gives a fig about the Enneagram, but this made me laugh. Ringing the doorbell & running away is very Enneagram 9.

My CT scan didn’t reveal anything that could be causing my mysteriously small kidney, so my NP is referring me to a nephrologist. What it did reveal was moderate sunken chest (what in the world? I’ve never noticed) and mild scoliosis (oookkkaaayyy) and it also said that I’d had a prior hysterectomy* (EXTRA WHAT IN THE WORLD I’VE NEVER HAD A HYSTERECTOMY). So that was fun. How was your week?

*my NP is going to check with the radiologist about this one because seriously WHAT IN THE WORLD.

2025 Project 365 – Week Thirty-three

Apparently we spent this week just living our lives instead of taking photos, so you’re getting an assortment of images that weren’t necessarily intended for publishing (except Friday’s - I posted that one on the socials).

Sunday, August 10th

No photo, but it was a long church lady day - long service & then a council meeting. I still got to have lunch with Dad & Sue, so that was nice.

Monday, August 11th

My Be Real for the day - back at work after vacation. Boo hoo!

Tuesday, August 12th

I bought these yoga pants for loungewear & decided to wear them to work before I messed them up. Look at that extra high waist - it’s almost up to my boobs (full disclosure, when I sit down it acts as a sort of secondary bra).

Wednesday, August 13th

No photo.

Thursday, August 14th

I finished that hideous square that I had frogged. This is a little better - still not as pretty as I would like, but at least it doesn’t make me cringe.

Friday, August 15th

A Fast Fashion Tale of Woe. This was supposed to be linen. A friend asked if it was 100% badly printed on nylon and I said YES - it’s like wearing one of the flags we put on our door. Oof. (Also, if you embiggen it you'll see that it has these little white buttons instead of the hardware I was expecting for the straps. I'm going to be looking for some fun buttons to replace them with.)

Saturday, August 17th

Another BeReal - I’m sharing because I was impressed that I actually vacuumed the floor. Go me!

Our household is very close to being illness free! Dr. M still has a cough, but he hasn’t needed cough syrup in a couple of days. Will I now get to stop talking about our health? One can only hope  (although of course I’ll report the results of my upcoming CAT scan).

2025 Project 365 – Week Thirty-two

Remember how I thought I had mostly recovered from my cold? Well hold your horses - I was still having coughing fits through Friday. Finally stopped having to take Dayquil on Saturday. Oh, and I gave Dr. M the crud and he has been miserable. I’m so glad we decided to cancel our vacation and stay home.

Sunday, August 3rd

I felt well enough to go to church, but apparently not well enough to take a photo. Oops.

Monday, August 4th

Our two kinds of morning glories. Pretty!

For reasons unknown to me, I scheduled an ultrasound and a mammogram for the Monday of my vacation. I had to be at the imaging center at 7:30 in the morning. Rude! (See below for results of my scans.)

Tuesday, August 5th

I was reading my new poetry book & thought of a person who needed to read this one so I took a picture to send to her & that’s the only one from today so here you go.

Wednesday, August 6th

I went to see Dad & Sue and partook in his latest culinary treat - a pecan sandie with Hersey’s syrup on it. It was pretty tasty, but I like them better plain.

And then Dr. M made an amazing soup that evening. YUM.

Thursday, August 7th

People. I am s t r u g g l i n g with my color selections lately. Look at this horror! I frogged it & I think it looks a lot better (photo shoot after it finishes drying). Also, to be fair, that orange color is actually more of a salmon pink and has paired well with the blue in the past.

Friday, August 8th

When I was brushing my teeth I thought I heard a rooster. The neighbors up the hill have chickens, but I usually can’t hear them. Apparently they decided to take a road trip this morning & Dr. M caught all the action. Made me laugh.

Vacation lunch. Yum!

Saturday, August 10th

I used leftovers from yesterday’s lunch on today’s lunch.

This yarn is in time out where I hope it will learn the error of its ways. (Comment from my brother on Facebook: You have to punish it in front of the other yarn to set an example.)

As promised, the results of my scans. My mammogram was fine. The ultrasound showed that my arteries and one kidney look to be healthy & functioning well. The other kidney is about ⅔ the size of its sister and we don’t really know why. Could be congenital - I’ve never had my kidneys checked before. However, it could be the cause of my blood pressure being so much less manageable now. My NP is ordering a CAT scan to continue searching to see what’s going on in there. Stay tuned!

Well it’s back to work tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. Do you like being back in a routine after some free time? I think I would like it better if I didn’t have to get up so darned early!

2025 Project 365 – Week Thirty-one

I am mostly recovered from my cold, but VERY SLEEPY just now. I wonder how this post will turn out if I type with my eyes closed?

Sunday, July 27th

Stayed home from church to bake in the sun. It didn’t really work as far as making my cold go away, but it really felt good.

I also had a photo shoot for my latest square. This one was a BEAR. Took me about a month because every row required deep concentration & there was much frogging. Phew!

Monday, July 28th

I had been working on the next square but was not loving the green (I mean, look what it did to that burgundy color? eww!), so I frogged that. I’m much happier with the lighter color.

Tuesday, July 29th

I hadn’t been doing the dishes due to runny nose, but even so, six knives seems excessive.

Wednesday, July 30th

Dr. M says it’s Winged Wednesday!

Also, things that make you go hmmm…

Thursday, July 31st

I posted this in an HR group on Facebook - Grammarly fail. Made me laugh. I mean, I hope our benefits are practical, but that’s definitely not what I was trying to say.

Friday, August 1st

Stayed late at work to get my calendar updated! (No after photo.)

Saturday, August 2nd

Happy mail from Lori Hetteen! I need to figure out where to put my No Kings stickers!

I’m off work this coming week - woo hoo! We were going to go out of town, but weather and care for Dr. M’s dad are keeping us home. That’s ok - we’ll do some things around the house and spend some quality time together. What does your week look like?

2025 Project 365 – Week Thirty-six

Speaking of being a drama queen, I am having the busiest Sunday! I had to pick up J at 9:15 to take to church, choir practice at 9:30, churc...
