2024 Project 365 – Week Twenty-one

I’ve had a weird week. I got drugs for my tooth (it’s so much better!), worked long hours at the office, and I can tell I’ve been stressed because I started rereading one of my favorite Nora Roberts trilogies. Another couple of weeks of intense work, followed by some more weeks of intense work, and then maybe some time off. Woot?
Sunday, May 19th
Pentecost! This first picture makes me laugh – Jeanette & Carole had a little war with the microphone. It’s been fun to (occasionally) sing with the choir this spring.

Monday, May 20th
Two of our favorite pastoral scenes. I love how Dr. M always gets these photos for me every season.

Speaking of seasons – it’s daylily season!

Tuesday, May 21st
My conditioner smells like grapefruit. My body wash smells like strawberries. And my lotion smells like oranges. Hope the office is ready for this fruit salad today!

 Wednesday, May 22nd
Ooookkkaaayyyy – I guess my crochet book is some sort of threat? (Note: it’s been released & should arrive Wednesday.)

Thursday, May 23rd
It’s Dr. M’s Pop’s birthday! It’s number 92. He had a great day.

Friday, May 24th
Spent some time in the shower this morning trying to remember why Santa Claus was on trial in The Miracle on 34th Street. And in related news, I wonder if Justice Alito has a granddaughter.

Saturday, May 25th
Hydrangeas at Dr. M’s dad’s house. They’re always so pretty (and their coloring reminds me of the blueberries to come!

I took today “off” – stayed home to do some housework & decompress a little. I plan to work tomorrow and Monday so that I’m as ready as possible for next week. How’s your spring looking?

2024 Project 365 – Week Thirteen

Hello from the other side of Holy Week! We had church early today (8:00, but the choir had to be there at 7:15) so I am possibly a little delirious. Yes, I know that 7:15 is not EARLY early like some churches do, but let me have my moment of drama.
Sunday, March 24th
I had gone out but then I couldn’t get back in the house because reasons. I know that paper wasps aren’t really a threat, but I also know from experience that they will sting if you accidentally grab one.

Monday, March 25th
Not pictured is my bracket, which at that time looked rather lovely, but has since been shredded (I posted a video on the socials, but I shall spare you). All I can say at this point is, go NC State (men and women)!

Tuesday, March 26th
Freshly scrubbed and ready for bed.

Wednesday, March 27th
Since I started back singing in choir I decided to use the binder of one of our former choir members. I opened it up & smiled to see four year old cough drops and lip gloss. Miss having her around!

Thursday, March 28th
Maundy Thursday. It was a lovely service & I enjoyed my soup and traditional Maundy Thursday donut.

Friday, March 29th
I had the day off from work and made a ginormous breakfast sandwich. It has two eggs, three pieces of livermush, & laughing cow cheese. You’ll be shocked to note that it actually fit in my mouth.

Opening Day for the Braves! They look pretty good this year.

Saturday, March 30th
This is Dr. M’s view out of the office window. Lovely!

Progress report on my latest cardigan, otherwise known as the Thanksgiving table runner. I still need to do the sleeves and then sew it all together. I’m trying to decide what color to use as the trim (I’m leaning toward the darker rust color or the dark brown – which looks black in the photo).

Dr. M got me another excellent t-shirt. This is one of the main NC State players who is a beast and also apparently an all round great guy. They play Duke today for a chance to go to the Final Four. Won’t you be glad when all of this is over?

I’m home from church, working on my blog post, and then going to see Dad & Sue for a bit before coming back home to watch baseball and basketball. It’s a beautiful day and I bought two new albums yesterday (BeyoncĂ©’s Cowboy Carter and Songs of Our Native Daughters. Both are excellent. So life is currently good. How’s about with you?

2017 Project 365 – Week Forty-four

It seems like just yesterday that I was writing last week’s post. The concept of November hasn’t really sunk in yet, but it had better because Dr. M’s birthday is in just two weeks! This week's pictures are rather churchy. Also, there is no picture of the fabulous full moon because we had clouds & rain.
Sunday, October 29th
The church that I’ve been attending voted last week to change its name (from Church of the Master United Church of Christ to Peace United Church of Christ). It was a nice surprise to see the change in the bulletin.

Yet another addition to the Bug Parking Badly series. This time I was trying to back into the cut out at my dad’s house. At least I have one tire on the pavement. As my brother pointed out, the target I was aiming for is not small. Extra sad.

Monday, October 30th
Dr. M was enjoying a gourmet snack of hummus and Southern Flat Bread (aka Ritz Crackers).

A new addition to the Halloween ensemble.

Tuesday, October 31st
We had no trick or treaters this year, which was expected, but still a little sad. It helped that Daddy & Sue came over for dinner. Dr. M made soda bread for the occasion – it was pretty enough to photograph. Also pictured is my Halloween outfit – two different earrings – and a crochet spider and web that didn’t really turn out like I wanted, but we displayed anyway. Not pictured: Daddy & Sue or the meal. Sheesh.

Wednesday, November 1st
And just like that, the witch has become a pilgrim!

I’m lurking outside the church waiting for Christmas Cantata practice. Yes, I’m participating in the cantata. Not joining the choir though (I can’t really do that with my current commitments). Remember how I was going to wait for a year before diving back into church?

Thursday, November 2nd
My church has been doing a book study group on this book. Tonight was the last night. It is REALLY good! I highly recommend it!

I finished yet another project for me. It matches the vest I made last week. I really need to get on the ball if I’m going to make any Christmas presents!

I thought this picture that Dr. M took of the new cat was super cool!

Friday, November 3rd
I saw this Great Blue Heron on my walk today! Crappy iPhone photos, but still!

Dr. M captured some of the loveliness of our street. Fall has sure been pretty around here.

Saturday, October 28th
Today we discovered the RFD channel on TV and watched this show about antique tractors. Now I definitely feel like I’m home (which is funny because the first tractor they showed was in Ohio).

OK people, I’ve decided that I need my own hashtag: #thebugparkingbadly I did get back in the car & re-park it.

It feels like we’re rushing toward Christmas. I’m excited to see how it will feel different this year since we won’t have to travel for it, but I’m pretty sure I’m not the least bit ready! How about you? Can we have Thanksgiving first?

Throwback Thursday

Last night at choir practice we were learning a new piece with a pretty low alto part. I was singing along, when suddenly I heard my mother's voice come out of my mouth. She didn't sing often - she had no confidence in her singing ability - but when she did sing, her voice was low and mellow. Made me smile. Made me miss her all over again.

Que sera sera Momcat, que sera sera...

2015 Project 365 – Week Thirty-six

We took a really quick trip to NC over Labor Day – drove down on Friday & back yesterday. I’m still recuperating (and poor Dr. M had to go teach from 9:30 – 7:30 today!)
Sunday, August 30th
Dr. M saw a nighthawk!

The moon…

Monday, August 31st
At first I thought that my mowing shoes were kaput, but now I’ve decided that if I'm careful, they’ll live until the end of mowing season. I already have another old pair of tennis shoes picked out to succeed these :)

Square #2 of pattern #17.

Tuesday, September 1st
My daily walk.

Wednesday, September 2nd
Squirrel Wednesday…

This chickadee is looking in the window to make sure there’s some seed in there.

Our annual choir potluck & first rehearsal of the season.

As usual, I didn’t manage my time very well & took my walk in the dark. It always takes me a few weeks to get organized after choir starts.

Thursday, September 3rd
I was given these penguins for my birthday a couple of years ago – I finally decided to use them with my work key & security fob.

Square #3 of pattern 17 – and I decided to take a break & start something different for the holiday weekend.

Friday, September 4th
I was sorting out a birthday gift for a friend before we left for NC.

My daily walk – at the Jackson Ferry Shot Tower in Virginia.

Saturday, September 5th
Dr. M took these pictures at my dad’s house. Web-a-licious!

This is Dr. M’s dad’s cat – my caption for the photo is Carolina Cat Don’t Care!

Sheep!

I took a walk with my dad late in the evening…

Hope everyone has a great week!

2026 Project 365 – Week Forty-four

People, we are ALMOST to the end of the stitches nightmare. As far as I can tell, my incision looks great. TBD whether they will release me ...
