2025 Project 365 – Week Nineteen

I’ve made a lot of progress on the hand. Now it sort of looks like this.

Except it has four fingers. And no face. And is green. So, exactly the same!

Sunday, May 4th

I found some suspenders in my closet & was so excited!

Monday, May 5th

Dr. M made the best meal for Cinco de Mayo!

Tuesday, May 6th

No photo.

Wednesday, May 7th

Dr. M saw this horned beast when he went to the post office. Do you see things like this when you go to your post office?

Thursday, May 8th

Delivered some more snacks to my friend Marcel. I think his drive is going really well!

Friday, May 2nd 9th

From the socials: All you need is… (well, & a government that actually cares about the wellbeing of humanity)

Saturday, May 10th

I wore my Braves toppers while I was watching their game & they won, so I decided to switch to my Hurricanes toppers for their game - and it WORKED. They now lead the series 2-1 (it’s a 7 game series, so we have a ways to go - and this is only round 2 of 4. Hockey season lasts about 47 years).

The world is crazy, but I have a very important thing to complain about right now: it’s May and I wore long sleeves almost every day this week. In August I will remember these May days with fondness, but that’s a whole three months from now. How are you feeling about the weather where you are?

2025 Project 365 – Week Ten

I’d like to blame the current administration for the state of my nails, but in fact they break off every year at this time. It’s like they do such a great job of making it through the winter, and then say “nah dawg - we’re done,” when spring is in sight. Rude.

Sunday, March 2nd

Spring training baseball! I look a little maniacal here. Ha!

Monday, March 3rd

My birthday! I had pound cake and banana pudding at work, and Dr. M picked some daffodils for me. And he got me a new vacuum cleaner! I actually asked for it - I was about to throw our other one off the porch. He also got me something else, but you have to wait until next week to see it (it just came today). I also went out shopping with my bestie - it’s been a long time since I had someone in the dressing room with me helping me decide what to buy.

Tuesday, March 4th

I posted a before and after shot - last year’s birthday & this year’s birthday. Even though I know in my head that I’ve lost 63 pounds, I hadn’t really realized what a big difference there was!

Wednesday, March 5th

Ash Wednesday.

Thursday, March 6th

I took today & Friday off from work, and spent some time running errands (dr. appointment, oil change, groceries). Meanwhile, Dr. M spent some time with the cat whisperer.

Friday, March 7th

We had my family birthday party today. It was great spending time with dad & Sue, my brother & his wife. But we all know who the stars of the show were.

Saturday, March 8th

Dr. M came home from checking on his Pop and did some very productive deck sitting!

The time changes tomorrow and while I’m happy about it (team DST forever), I am NOT happy about how long it will take my body to get used to it. How do you feel about DST?

2024 Project 365 – Week Thirty

Once again I did not work this weekend, although I did bring my laptop home and plan to do a couple of things that will make my Monday morning a little easier. I hesitate to say it, but I think that the worst has passed. Fingers crossed!

Sunday, July 28th

I was so excited when this player got a hit that I had a mishap with my glasses. Ha!

Monday, July 29th

We had us a gulleywasher!

Tuesday, July 30th

We spent some quality time watching the GOAT this week (as well as a number of other ridiculously talented athletes).

Wednesday, July 31st

This is the only “picture” - a screenshot of me purchasing a crochet pattern at 10:30 at night. An acquaintance had texted asking if I could make something for her cat, and since I’m feeling a little more kindly toward cats lately & the pattern looked kind of fun, I thought I’d give it a go.

Thursday, August 1st

“I’m gettin’ old, Mike!” says the 92 year old…

Friday, August 2nd

Absolute chaos this morning trying to brush my teeth with my right hand while simultaneously scrolling my phone with my left hand. Did I hit all four quadrants with my toothbrush? At this point only the Shadow knows. (Note: I was trying to access the app that controls the smart plug that runs the fan in the bedroom - I wanted to turn it off. Also note that the phone was on the counter to my right. It kind of reminded me of when Dr. M & I were trying to do that twining arms cake smash thing at our wedding.)

Saturday, August 3rd

Smoky says there are all manner of lawn mowers out back! The neighbors goats have been having a grand old time in Dr. M’s dad’s yard.

I have nothing else to say here, so feel free to talk amongst yourselves!

2024 Project 365 – Week Eight

There are five photos of me this week (I’m counting Sunday as one photo) and in each one I’m wearing a different glasses topper. But I’m not obsessed.
Sunday, February 18th
I got to spend time with my great-nephews (and some other people) Sunday evening! Gray is SO ACTIVE and adorable, and Eli is not quite as active (being an infant) but also adorable. Not pictured: Eli chewing my fingers vigorously.

Monday, February 19th
Sent Dr. M this photo of me eating a protein bar on my way to mall walk with my bestie.

Tuesday, February 20th
A coworker saw this sweater at Goodwill and thought it looked like something I needed. She was RIGHT!

Wednesday, February 21st
No photo.

Thursday, February 22nd
Dr. M got to watch the first spring training game of the season. Woo hoo!

Friday, February 23rd
I voted in the primary. I was very excited to vote for Jeff Jackson for Attorney General – hopefully he makes it through the primary and then wins in the general election.

After work I “had” to stay at Dad & Sue’s house until I finished the puzzle. Hard times. Ha!

Saturday, February 24th
I thought my samurai housewife look was hilarious.

My Valentine tulips have been looking amazing. I’m sure you agree! (Full disclosure – in the process of dusting the table I knocked the remaining petals off. Oops.)

February is almost over and my birthday month is beginning. I have to say that if my birthday wasn’t in March I would not be a fan. It’s so deceptive. I mean, it’s when spring “officially” starts, but does it seem springish? No it does not. Although maybe the problem is what I think spring is supposed to be like. What are your thoughts about March?

2023 Project 365 – Week Forty-one

Another week, another bunch of photos. Sorry!
Sunday, October 8th
Random photos of the Squishmallow and his adorable brother. I got to hold him for quite a while (insert heart eyes emoji here).

I told Dr. M to go check the daylilies because they were drunk (as I recall we had a second blooming last year too).

Monday, October 9th
Ready for the Braves game! They won in dramatic fashion, but they ended up losing later in the week. It was SUCH a good season & I’m really sad they didn’t go further into the postseason. Ah well – next year!

Tuesday, October 10th
Dr. M’s “last brunch” before his colonoscopy.

Wednesday, October 11th
Dr. M & his dad were accidental twins!

Thursday, October 12th
Isn’t he adorable? His colonoscopy had mixed results – they found 8 (probably benign) polyps, but there was a section that they couldn’t see because it was filmy. They think it might be due to one of the things they had him take during the prep. This means he’ll have to go back within the year so they can check that section.

Me, tonight, watching a show about UFOS: "What a load of poppycock!"

Me, this morning at 1:30 a.m. after being awakened by voices in the bedroom & discovering that the audiobook on my phone just "happened" to be playing: "Are there ghosts in this house, and do they know my iPhone password?"

But seriously - what in the world??!!

Friday, October 13th
Ms. Rita got a new pot (and had a couple of “tenants” evicted in the process). Plus, bonus Pinky content.

Saturday, October 14th
Dr. M posted this lovely photo on the socials & one of our friends called it Christina’s World – it really is!

Meanwhile, lookit Ellen – I did (a tiny little smidge of) yard work!

I ended up having to order yarn for my cardigan, so I started a new project (because of course why would I work on any of the umpteen WIPs I have in little bags around the house?).

This week has been full of horror of war, clown politics, incomplete medical procedures, and the loveliness of fall. I’m trying (and failing) to hold it all. How are you doing?

The Braves! The Braves! All Glory in Them!

Yes, I know, that is a very dramatic title. It’s just baseball for heaven’s sake. But we are pretty darned excited around here, and I wanted to write down some of the great things about this amazing season. Non-baseball folks can feel free to ignore!

MLB Records
  •  Tied 2019 Minnesota Twins MLB record with 307 homers.
  • Team slugging percentage of .501 - highest in MLB history
  • Ronald Acuna is the only player in history to get 40 home runs and 70 stolen bases.
  • Ronald is also only the fourth player in MLB history to have a 335 average 40 or more homers, 215 hits or more, 80 extra base hits or more, 100 RBI or more, & 145 runs scored or more, with fewer than 90 strikeouts. The other three? Lou Gehrig (1937), Chuck Cline (1936), & Joe DiMaggio (1937).
  • Matt Olson, Ronald Acuna, & Marcel Ozuna all had 40 or more homers – this is the 4th time in MLB history that 3 teammates hit 40 or more homers in a single season.

Braves Franchise Records

  • Tied the Braves franchise high with 4 players with 100 or more RBI.
  • Matt Olson set a new franchise record with his 54 homers.
  • Matt also set a new franchise record with 139 RBI.
  • Spencer Strider had a 20 win season & broke the franchise record (set by John Smoltz) with 281 strikeouts.
And if these aren’t enough stats, check out this article. The title is “Do Braves have the best first-inning offense ever?” The answer is YES, yes they do. The article has stats like this:

Most home runs, first inning, since 1961
1-T. 2023 Braves: 47
1-T. 2019 Reds: 46

Most extra-base hits, first inning, since 1961
1-T. 2023 Braves: 92
1-T. 2003 Cardinals: 92
3. 2001 Rangers: 89

Highest slugging percentage, first inning, since 1961
1. 2023 Braves: .600
2. 2019 Reds: .564

Highest OPS, first inning, since 1961
1. 2000 Cardinals: .988
2. 2023 Braves: .982

It goes on to say: “If there’s any takeaway from all of this, it’s that the first inning of any Braves game is must-see TV if you like action. And silencing Atlanta’s offense in the first will be both extremely difficult and vitally important for any opponent this month. You don’t want to let this offense gain the upper hand early on. However, the Braves’ lineup has often been called “relentless” this season, and for good reason. While keeping them quiet in the first inning is crucial, you still have to deal with them in innings two through nine as well. Good luck.”

The Braves first post-season game is on Saturday. They’ll be playing the Phillies, who are currently on fire. As I told a friend earlier today, I’m beside myself with joy and dread. Whew!
