2025 Project 365 – Week Thirty-eight

I had my Covid booster today & I am choosing to blame any and all errors in this post on that fact. Despite the fact that it was only an hour ago & couldn’t possibly be an issue.

Sunday, September 14th

Dr. M made the best stir fry for dinner – yum! The best part is that he’s pretty sure he remembers how he made it so we can have it again.

Monday, September 16th
Sheep! Dr. M actually gets to see sheep all the time, but can’t usually get a photo. So this was a treat.

Tuesday, September 16th
I’ve been stewing about this for a while now.

Wednesday, September 17th
It was my dad’s birthday! But I didn’t take any photos of him because I’m the worst. Instead, you get this. Had an appointment with an orthopedic doctor today. He was very impressed by how much arthritis was in my shoulder. Bone on bone! And the bone looks angry! So I got a shot & if that doesn’t work it’s shoulder replacement for me. Yay! I consoled myself with Bridge Mix. Bonus photo of my watch after I had used the apparently Very Loud hand dryer.

Thursday, September 18th
My latest haul from The Happy Givers – two t-shirts and a bag. I loved all of it!

Friday, September 19th
Dad sandwich alert! Peanut butter, banana, & chocolate covered raisins. He said it was kind of dry & I said he should have added jelly. He agreed & that’s how you know we’re related.

Saturday, September 20th
This bout of rage dusting is brought to you by cortisone & my friend Evan’s most excellent playlist.

The news these days has been so very terrible. I hear glimmers of hope & then I hear of another just awful thing. And now the rapture is happening on Tuesday! I’ve backslidden so much (according to my relatives probably) that I don’t really need to concern myself with that. I’ll probably miss them though. Do you know anyone who might be raptured?

2025 Project 365 – Week Twenty-seven

This week, in addition to the potential collapse of democracy, I have a lot of food & selfie photos! Yay!

Sunday, June 29th

Dr. M says: We are definitely seeing more bumblebees on our bee balm, along with a few pretty little butterflies, but the star of the show right now is the bumblebee moth! Hemaris diffinis, the bumblebee moth, is also called the snowberry clearwing in reference to the plant on which its caterpiller feeds. Hemaris diffinis is much smaller than hemaris thysbe, the hummingbird moth. You can see in my pics how the bumblebee moth blends in with our bumbles. So much fun to be able to capture this little cutie!

Monday, June 30th

I got a new topper! Just what I needed - I have so few (that was sarcasm).

Tuesday, July 1st

When I saw this travesty in my dad’s bowl I said, “have you no decency, sir?” (Chicken salad, potato salad, & BLUEBERRIES ๐Ÿ˜ฒ)

Wednesday, July 2nd

I misread this company quote (mission statement?) & thought YES WE ARE APPARENTLY DONE WITH INTEGRITY IN THIS COUNTRY.

Meanwhile, Dr. M saw an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. A bit battered but still lovely.

Thursday, July 3rd

I was aggressively patriotic at work today because dammit it’s my country too. But I mostly felt like a lie. I wanted to be carrying a sign that said I don’t approve of the evil things this administration is doing but all I did was wear my Black Lives Matter bracelet. Tiny concession to who I am as a person.

Friday, July 4th

We decided to have veggie burgers for the 4th & they were really good! I like how they’re sort of daisy shaped in the pan. Ha!

Saturday, July 5th

I woke up very early (for me on a Saturday) & took a little ramble around the yard. These photos are the result of me trying to get a photo of a bumblebee, and me giving up & doing a rudbeckia selfie instead.

My caption to the photo on the left: When someone asks an Enneagram 9 to decide what to have for dinner. And then other people ask the same Enneagram 9 what to have for lunch the next day. Food. I would like food please. The food I decided to eat for dinner was a chicken and potato salad sandwich. Yum!

Finally, here’s my caption for this photo: I don’t know man. A project that uses 29 stitch markers (SO FAR) might be a smidge more complicated than I bargained for๐Ÿ˜‚.

This coming week is the first payroll of the new fiscal year so all of the benefit changes I’ve been entering will go out into the world. Hopefully there aren’t very many issues with them. The payroll after that is a little more scary for me - fingers crossed! THEN my several months of stress will be over & I can concentrate on other aspects of my job (to be clear, this year has been a walk in the park compared to last year). ANYWAY, I know you’ll be glad to stop having to read about it. My next thing to obsess over (personally, because “the politics” is ever in my mind) is my hair. I’m thinking of coloring it because I AM BORED with it. Thoughts? Suggestions? Other things you’d rather talk about? Tell me all!

2024 Project 365 – Week Sixteen

It’s “cold” (53 degrees) and rainy and I am in my sheep pajamas with a warm laptop on my lap. I’m not mad about that.
Sunday, April 14th
The phoebes are on the nest!

Monday, April 15th
In my never ending quest to make my breakfast routine simpler, I bought yet another pan. I love it!

Meanwhile, the azalea at Dr. M’s dad’s house is gorgeous!

Tuesday, April 16th
Dad and Sue have been singing with a group for a number of years now, but this is the first time I’ve attended one of their performances. This one was at a church near where I work. I’m going to try to embed a video of my dad telling a joke, but if it doesn’t work you can go here to watch it. I actually genuinely laughed (twice) when he told it, so it’s worth checking out.

Wednesday, April 17th
No photo.

Thursday, April 18th
I was walking out to my car & caught a glimpse of my shadow and wondered if maybe I was growing horns.

Friday, April 20th
Went by Dad & Sue’s on the way home and was greeted by this bundle of fluffy joy. Meet the newest addition to my brother and sister-in-law’s family, Willow the Goldendoodle!

Also, my dad’s azalea is pretty amazing.

Saturday, April 21st
Dr. M was surprised to see blossoms on the Dr. Van Fleet rose at his dad’s house. So delicate and lovely.

I’m heading into my busiest season at work. I’m relieved that it’s here so it will soon be behind me. Well, I say soon, but this year because of a lot of factors it’s going to be busy and crazy until July. So what I’m saying is that I’ll have to devote my brain cells elsewhere for a while. Oh I’ll still post, but it might be gibberish. Something to look forward to!

2023 Project 365 – Week Forty-six

There was a lot of celebrating this week!
Sunday, November 12th
We had a baby shower at church for a young couple. This is their first baby & they had a LOT of questions about how things were going to work. Fortunately we have a lot of mommas in our congregation who can help them (including the one who made the quilt and the little elephant – so talented!). Also, that Tres Leches cake was so good!

Monday, November 13th – Dr. M’s Birthday!!
I gave him a card that had a little pelican Lego kit in it. It was so cute!

That evening we went out to eat with family. We had a lovely time – and I got to hold Elliott for a while (not pictured: how quickly I handed him back to his dad when he started squalling. Ha!).

This sequence is called My Dad Says Something Outrageous and My Nephew Shoots Right Back with Something MORE Outrageous. Note Sue’s side-eye in that middle photo.

Tuesday, November 14th
Dr. M went to his dad’s and did a little leaf photo shoot. I love this one with Mr. Squirrel.

Wednesday, November 15th
It’s giving Librarian. Which was my dream job until I almost flunked Library Science in high school. Damn that Dewey Decimal System! (Note: I have an accounting degree that I don’t use so I guess I did ok.)

It’s soup & hockey season!

Thursday, November 16th
Dr. M’s breakfast burrito. I love the artful placement of cherry tomatoes.

Dillards had an interesting sort of princess display & I had to have my photo taken in front of it. Ha!

Friday, November 17th
No photo.

Saturday, November 18th
Is it ironic that I had a sandwich for lunch and then found this old poem about making sandwiches?

Next week is Thanksgiving. We’ve had a minor turkey crisis (resolved now), but I have a pecan pie on my table ready to go so that’s all I really need. What are you looking forward to eating?

2023 Project 365 – Week Thirty-five

Not pictured: another avocado toast lunch.

Sunday, August 27th
Ta da! I like how the back looks too – and it would be WAY easier to make a blanket of just squares. Ha!

Monday, August 28th
No photo.

Tuesday, August 29th
No photo.

Wednesday, August 30th
Not a fabulous photo, but I finally caught our spider in action.

Had a training at work today & worked on my new project. This will be a cardigan.

Thursday, August 31st
Walked into the kitchen & saw this. Dr. M staked a claim on this avocado for NC! The rest of the day was just weird – our internet was down at work for about 4 hours, so I took my avocado to my dad’s house & ate lunch with them.

Friday, September 1st (HOW IS IT ALREADY SEPTEMBER?)
People. My father showed this gloopy stuff to me & said that they’d had some leftover French fries and bacon from going out to eat the other day & he pureed them so he could have potato soup. He added some chili and ketchup & declared it good. And you know what? I probably would have liked it too. I said that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree, but Sue said that it was really that the nut didn’t fall far… She ain’t wrong.

Saturday, September 2nd
I was crocheting so fast during this very tense moment in the Braves game that I’m surprised the yarn didn’t burn my hands. (Note: we won. Also note: the Braves are the best team in baseball right now. This has definitely been a highlight during an otherwise not fabulous summer.)

Well, my disbelief notwithstanding, it is now September. Days are getting shorter, and temps are...

You know what? Never mind. Anyway, how was your week?

2021 Project 365 – Week Thirty-eight

I finally had a pretty calm week. Work was fine (I actually got a couple of projects done that I’d been dreading – it felt good to get those off my plate!). Home was fine. Dr. M was fabulous. The world was mostly ignored again (mental health break people!). Let’s see if this coming week will continue the theme.
Sunday, September 12th
Dr. M posted another of his paintings on the socials. I love this one too – it was in the running for my new office painting. I especially like it because it reminds me of vacations past.

I stopped by to work a puzzle see Daddy & Sue after church. I brought KFC and we had a nice visit.

I really struggle to read nonfiction books. There’s some sort of mental block going on there. I have so many that I’ve bought recently & just allowed to languish, unread. So I’ve instituted a new policy (also designed to get me to go to bed in a more timely manner): I’m reading a chapter each evening right before I turn the light off. So far I’m really enjoying this book – although strangely I feel like she’s too nice to White Peacekeepers (which is the WHOLE POINT OF THE BOOK actually).

Monday, September 13th
Sent Dr. M this picture of my Cheeto stash at work.

Tuesday, September 14th
No photo.

Wednesday, September 15th
I used to take sky pictures all the time in Ohio. I don’t down here because there isn’t as much sky to photograph, but I’m going to try to remedy that because I need to remember it’s up there. Maybe Sky Wednesday will become a thing!

Thursday, September 16th
Dr. M posted a number of lovely pictures of rain-drenched sedum and morning glories, but these were my favorites.

Friday, September 17th
My dad’s birthday! I stopped by to give him his gift (these books), and watch him make a grape, peanut butter, and jelly sandwich. Topped with the heel of the bread. I posted it on the socials talking about how people would be able to see where I got my strange food choices from and everyone was all like, “that looks good!” And, “I would eat that!” Humph.

Saturday, September 18th
We had a little family pizza party for the birthday boy. We were missing my brother who was out on the road, but it was a nice time with the ‘rents, Dr. M, my sister-in-law, and niece. Did I take photos of any of those people? No I did not. At least I got a picture of the pizza and my dad, so you know my priorities were in order.

Despite the fact that I continued to use red (and autumn red) in my temperature blanket last week, there was definitely a hint of fall in the air. The mornings were crisper, and I had to turn the light on in the living room as I was getting ready to leave for work each day. I was talking to Dr. M about how my dislike of fall has softened over the years. I was feeling all philosophical (maybe I don’t dread fall as much because he’s no longer teaching in the fall & I always missed Summer Dr. M…), but he was more practical: we live in the south now, so the onset of winter doesn’t depress me as much. (Yes, in my mind fall means that we will immediately have winter – I am ever “A to Z” in all things.) How do you feel about fall?

2026 Project 365 – Week Twenty-eight

People, I think maybe things are back to normal in the Bug household. Perhaps. I stayed home yesterday & caught up on cleaning and laund...
