2025 Project 365 – Week Forty-eight

Here it is Sunday night after being off work for two days and I’m not exactly feeling the Sunday Scaries, but I’m also not entirely excited about waking up at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Sunday, November 23rd
We had a Thanksgiving potluck at church (Dr. M brought green bean casserole & cornbread!). But then afterward, something went awry with the hanging of the greens. I’m not sure what…

Monday, November 24th
Ducks. Getting into a row. I wonder if the black one is like a border collie duck?

The Moon Man, at it again…

Tuesday, November 25th
The EnChristmasification of City Hall!

Wednesday, November 26th
Dr. M volunteered to make the gravy for our family gathering. It was really good!

Thursday, November 27th
Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday, November 28th
We celebrated my brother’s 60th birthday today (it’s on Monday, but we’ll all be at work). Dr. M & I bought him $60 worth of potato chips, his wife got him 60 Diet Sundrops, his youngest son & his wife got him 60 scratch-offs, and his older son & his partner gave him $60. She worked really hard on this!

P.S. I didn’t get a photo of my brother. What the heck!

From the socials: What a banner day in the Bug household! Firstly, @ridinthestormout59 gave me my anniversary present (two weeks early - very on brand for us). The 35th anniversary is the emerald anniversary & this necklace & earrings of raw emerald is perfect! Then, this flower delivery came to the wrong house & when we called customer service they said we could keep them! Bonus: my wedding flowers were roses & calla lilies!! (Final pic is of my @thehappygivers sweatshirt because duh.)

Saturday, November 29th
Boy those roses REALLY filled out!

I have my winter roommate back! Ms. Pinky has been blooming up a storm.

We made it through Thanksgiving unscathed (mostly) and are careering toward Christmas at a ridiculous pace. Will I be ready when it gets here? Only the Shadow knows! Fortunately, it’s Dr. M’s turn to write the Christmas poem, so I don’t have that on my plate. Whew! Are you like me, and kind of wish it was already January (without actually wanting it to be January)?

2024 Project 365 – Week Forty-seven

Lots of pictures this week, mostly of family (as you might expect). Let’s dive in!

Sunday, November 24th

As I mentioned last week Dr. M made a green bean casserole for our church potluck. He brought it to church and ate with us, which was great. Do I have photos of that? Nope. What I have is a picture of me listening to a tender vittles audiobook. Happy sigh.

Monday,  November 25th

No photo.

Tuesday, November 26th

The tree in the lobby at work (City Hall) is huge!

Wednesday, November 27th

I wore my penguin toppers today. It’s my It’s Almost Christmas but Let’s Not Skip Thanksgiving look.

Dr. M got a stand for his cast iron. It’s lovely! And I appreciate it because the pan cabinet was getting out of control.

Thursday, November 28th

Thanksgiving! (Note Dr. M’s gorgeous green bean casserole - he made two for today. He might be done making green bean casserole for the next 5-10 years.)

Friday, November 29th

Busy day! I went by my brother’s house to take their family photos (note: I’m not really a photographer - hopefully my niece can edit the photos so that they’re usable). Here are some shots from the day.

Then I went to see Wicked with my cousins. Holly & I wore the same sweater (she ended up with the second one I made). Fun!

Saturday, November 30th

For the second day in a row I ate leftover dessert for breakfast (yesterday’s was banana pudding). Good stuff! Pretty sure my body is going to be very happy to start its regular routine this next week.

I was surprised today at how well I felt physically. I’ve still had random weird joint pain ever since that flare last month but today I didn’t have any knee or hip pain as I did my usual light housework. That was nice. Shall we keep it up? Please and thank you. But enough about that - how was your Thanksgiving?

2024 Project 365 – Week Forty-six

I’m sitting here watching an Annie Oakley documentary while writing this post. She was quite a lady!

Sunday, November 17th

We had a craft after church! We were supposed to be painting barn quilt squares with a heart pattern. But as usual I went my own direction. I told people that I was a beacon of joy. Ha!

Monday,  November 18th

I…have questions…

Tuesday, November 19th

Christmas time is here… Also, what in the world is going on with the angel’s hair in the top left photo????

Wednesday, November 20th

I ordered some Christmas presents from Feryl Designs & of course bought something for myself. I was so tickled when they arrived and matched the outfit I was planning to wear today!

Thursday, November 21st

Someone finally came in for the winter.

Friday, November 22nd

Dr. M says that he loves the artwork and the artist, but not that the sunset is happening at 5:30 down in the hollow.

Saturday, November 23rd

Dr. M is simply the best. Not only is he going to make our green bean casserole for Thanksgiving, but he made one for my church potluck, and he brought it to church the next day. Here it sits, ready to be cooked on Sunday morning.

We’ve almost made it to Thanksgiving. And then it’s a sprint to Christmas. I think SOON I’m going to pull out the gifts I’ve been buying throughout the year & make sure I really have everything - because last year my sister-in-law got the lamest gift EVER. I meant to get her something else, but oh well… Are you ready for Christmas?

2023 Project 365 – Week Forty-seven

Thanksgiving! It turns out that it’s my favorite holiday because I get to see my family, eat, & then spend two (or three if I’m extra slack like this year) glorious days doing diddly and squat. I mean, I did do laundry & some cleaning, but mostly I sat on my butt and read, crocheted, and played on my iPad. Happy sigh.
Sunday, November 19th
I saw this license plate in the drive-through and at first I thought heck yeah I’ll buy Snark Yarn, but then I realized that it was a snarky nurse driving the car and I guess that’s ok too.

I was taking green bean casserole to work on Monday for our holiday meal & I told Dr. M I was afraid I would forget it so he put this helpful hint on the counter.

Monday, November 20th
In addition to our holiday meal, we had a little mini bridal shower for one of our assistants who was getting married on Friday.

Tuesday, November 21st
We watched one of my favorite “comfort food” movies. It makes me smile that it has a baby Rihanna in it (she was 23 or 24 here).

Wednesday, November 22nd
A dog in a car will never fail to make me smile. And if I can get a photo I will always text it to Dr. M.

Dr. M says Happy Thanksgiving from down in the holler!

Thursday, November 23rd - Thanksgiving!
Lots of photos from today. We have our group photo, some candids, and proof that I didn’t eat by myself this year (even though I tried).

Also, here I am trying to show folks how to do my craft – a little ‘zine with some of my poems. They were really good sports about it!

Dr. M wasn’t able to attend (he took lunch to his father so he wouldn’t be alone – unfortunately bringing his dad to our gathering was not a good idea for many reasons) – but I made sure he got his Thanksgiving feast anyway!

Friday, November 24th
No matter how many videos I watch I can never get the seeds out of a pomegranate without it looking like a murder scene. Someone on Instagram said that the cutting board & knife photo looks like the cover of a cozy murder mystery. Ha!

Sue gave us this amaryllis. The bulb has wax on it & it’s supposed to not need watering. I’m intrigued to see how it does!

Saturday, November 25th
Dr. M says: If those metal patio chairs could talk, what tales they’d tell! Pretty sure they are almost as old as me. That picnic table has some age on it, too, but it’s still strong enough to support a catnap. The wood shop is quiet, the tools covered in dust. My 91 year old loves sitting out there in the sunshine, petting his guard cat and glaring at the falling leaves. Some days he is present, asking significant questions and trying to understand my answers. Today he was lost in memories from well over 70 years ago. And the guard cat slept on.

I made a sleeve for my iPad and then decided to frog it. I really liked it, but it was a smidge too small. Unfortunately I think adding a couple of stitches to the width is going to make me lose that excellent accidental color pooling (it will look more like that middle section). We shall see!

I ate persimmon pudding, banana pudding, corn pudding – ALL THE PUDDINGS! Also, my family is pretty cool. Did you enjoy your holiday?

2022 Project 365 – Week Forty-seven

Boy, this week was full of food! I guess you might expect it, but still…
Sunday, November 20th
As I mentioned last week, Dr. M replaced his dad’s hot water heater. He’s still got a little carpentry work to do (the new heater is taller than the old one, so the shelving that was in the same space has to be adjusted), but at least his dad has hot water. Dr. M is a little wild-eyed in the picture below – ha!

I made myself an open faced livermush sandwich for dinner – toast with Laughing Cow cheese, livermush, and peas on top. It was SO GOOD!

Monday, November 21st
I went by Daddy & Sue’s during my lunch hour to work on the puzzle. I thought they’d be gone, but I caught them right before they left to sing with their group. Aren’t they snazzy?

Tuesday, November 22nd
We had a meal at work. It was really good (chili, with some random side items), but for me the star was this homemade carrot cake. I kept telling the coworker who made it “it’s SO GOOD!” It got kind of embarrassing. Ha!

Wednesday, November 23rd
Dr. M was in a store buying flowers for his mother’s grave & they were in full Christmas inflatable mode. This is my favorite.

Thursday, November 24th
Thanksgiving! Here are some random photos of the day (plus the “official” photo of all of us). I had to laugh – I went back into my cousin’s office to eat and NO-ONE JOINED ME. I ate my whole meal by myself, reading my book. It was bliss. I wasn’t an entire hermit. I did go out & mingle with folks after I finished eating.

The best part of the day – the blanket in its new home!

Friday, November 25th
Dr. M says, “It’s not easy being green…”

Saturday, November 26th
I finally pulled out a new crochet project (I had joked & told Dr. M that I might start crocheting again in February). I started this one in 2016, and then we moved and I kept pulling it out & doing a smidge & putting it back away again. Well. I actually finished it last night! I’ll do a photo shoot with it before I send it to the recipient. It’s sort of a shawl/wrap situation – and is fifteen feet long. I don’t know why – I think the original pattern called for it to be oversized.

I told Dr. M that we needed some vegetables in our lives and he delivered! He called it a sort of a spinach tomato corn vegetarian chili vibe. It’s really tasty – and I plan to have it for dinner again tonight.

It was so nice to be off of work for a couple of days. I had a handful of projects in mind to do, but of course did none of them. I might do one of them this evening – for some reason I can’t find any black socks so I need to dump out my sock drawer to see what the heck. Wish me luck. Did you do anything productive over the holiday, or were you a lump like I was? (Note: I did do laundry & some housework, so not a total lump.)

2026 Project 365 – Week Forty-four

People, we are ALMOST to the end of the stitches nightmare. As far as I can tell, my incision looks great. TBD whether they will release me ...
