2026 Project 365 – Week Thirty-six

I’m laughing at this week’s photos because there are two photos of a wound situation – what an exciting week!
Sunday, August 30th
The church picnic was lovely! Dr. M made the guacamole, which was delicious. I enjoyed the rest my rather yellow lunch (there are THREE kinds of potatoes on that plate), but the stars of the show were the angel food cake & peaches, and the banana pudding. Yum!

I tried to get a photo of my hearing aids, but this is the best I could do because you literally cannot see them in my ears.

Monday, August 31st
Dr. M forgot that he ordered these hockey jerseys (sweaters) right after the Stanley Cup, so they were a nice surprise when they arrived. Bussi is the rookie* goalie we brought up who helped save our season and get us into the hockey playoffs & and then helped in the last few games of the cup.  *He’s 28, so not that young, but he hadn’t played in the “majors” until we signed him.

Tuesday, September 1st
Dr. M made a fabulous brisket! I loved his tomato “flower” with leftover guacamole – very artful.

Wednesday, September 2nd
I had a blister on the top of my foot from some new shoes & needed to cover it up so I could mall walk & I thought my jellyfish bandaid was terribly cute.

Thursday, September 3rd
I had to have blood drawn for my nephrologist & by the time I got back to the office, the gauze was soaked through so my coworker decided to rebandage me & she went a little overboard. Made me laugh. Also, I got my blood work results back & my creatinine was 1.03, down from the high of 1.43 in June 2025 (the range is .5 – 1.00). That seems like a good trend.

Friday, September 4th
I finished this book and it was so good. I got it from the library, but I’m thinking about buying my own copy so I can reread it. It’s about a junior high boy, set in 1969 in a small town in New York. Definitely a feel-good book (so perhaps unrealistic, but LET ME HAVE MY JOY WHERE I CAN FIND IT).

Saturday, September 5th
I had replaced this iPad lapdesk because it was leaking the microbead stuffing, but my new one (while fabulous) it a lot heavier & harder to manage with one arm. So I cut up an old t-shirt to add to the stuffing & then sewed it up. In the process, I remembered that I hate sewing (which is probably why I’m so bad at it). But at least now it doesn’t leak!

I had a lovely weekend doing practically nothing (well, I did vacuum – go me!). Today I have a couple of chores on my plate (church lady stuff, and a cleaning project), but right now I’m going to post this to the interwebs and watch baseball!
What did you do with your holiday weekend? Note: I’m speaking to Shoreacres, because the rest of you bozos are retired!

2026 Project 365 – Week Thirty-three

I just reviewed this week’s pictures and they’re all ME ME ME. Sorry. I’ll try to do better next week!
Sunday, August 9th
But before we get to me, here are Dad & Sue, trying to start a revival at Sue’s church! I had a lovely time, but by the end I decided that my exposure to evangelicalism had hit critical mass. Ha! P.S. Sorry for the crazy lady (me) singing on the chorus.

Monday, August 10th
I texted this to Dr. M. Something seemed to have gone awry with my “updo.” Made me laugh. But I had a good walk at the mall with my bestie, so that part was ok.

Tuesday, August 11th
It looks JUST LIKE the picture, right? Ugly, but tasty. We usually get the one that has four peppers and add extra rice, but I couldn’t resist the terribly cute little box of one.

Wednesday, August 12th
We actually walked twice this week! Click on the photo to embiggen it so you can read this week’s sermon (“millennial” made me laugh).

Thursday, August 13th
I was trying to get a photo of this really cool shirt my coworker gave me. It’s longer in the back than the front. It looks better in person.

Friday, August 14th
When they say sour they mean sour! I like all the flavors except for pink grapefruit & yet I still eat the pink grapefruit & then I look like this.

Saturday, August 15th
I was influenced to get this weird lipstick stain where you put it on & then peel it off. I like the color pretty well – we’ll see if it’s actually long lasting or not. It reminds me of the lipstick I used to get years ago that went on blue or purple & then changed to pink or red. No peeling necessary!

It’s Sunday afternoon, I’m full of pizza (from my lunch with Dad & Sue), I’ve almost finished this post, and I’m midway through laundry. I think I might spend some quality time mulling over a crochet conundrum. I was planning to turn that failed octopus underbelly into a starfish, but ran out of yarn last night with two starfish arms to go. Dang it. I could probably find the yarn and buy it, but the whole purpose of this was to use up what I have in my stash. I wonder if there’s something creative I can do about this? We shall see. I’ll report back!
How was your week?

2026 Project 365 – Week Twenty-eight

People, I think maybe things are back to normal in the Bug household. Perhaps. I stayed home yesterday & caught up on cleaning and laundry. I walked outside precisely twice: once to get the mail, and once to empty the recycling into the bin. It was excellent.
Sunday, July 5th
This photo isn’t from Sunday, but it’s the same outfit I wore to church. It was my turn to handle the “special” during the service (we take turns doing show & tell in the summer while the choir is off) and I read a poem. I reworked one I had written in 2016 which you can read here. Maybe sometime I’ll post the new version on here. We’ll see!

Monday, July 6th
Tell me you’re a slob without telling me you’re a slob. I’ll go first! I walked into my office Monday morning & was greeted by this evidence of Saturday’s snack. Oops.

Tuesday, July 7th
Every time I see myself in the mirror when I’m wearing this dress I go “hmmm” at the design placement.

Wednesday, July 8th
People, it was still so hot this week. Oof. The flowers were happy, but the chickens needed to take a break!

And so Dr. M made a very refreshing side dish to go with dinner.

Thursday, July 9th
I just love my zinnia basket! All those different heights and flower colors make me very happy.

Friday, July 10th
Dr. M got me these most excellent Hurricanes earrings. I love them!

Saturday, July 11th
No photo, but here is my post from the socials: SHARON McMAHON has been on fire lately & since it’s been a while since I’ve gotten riled up & posted on the internet I thought I’d steal on of her recent rants. Enjoy! (Read from left to right.)

Last week I had asked for good vibes that employee paychecks didn’t have any issues and so far so good! I have another big employee deduction import to do this coming week for the July 24th check, & hopefully that will go well. After that there is ONE MORE big task for the August 7th check and then we should be good to go for a while. Which is good, because surgery is coming up quickly! I’ll bet you’re ready to be done hearing about my job for a while. I know I am! What do you have going on this coming week?

2026 Project 365 – Week Eleven

War, incompetence, gun violence, knife attacks by elementary school children… These are this week’s weights. Whimsical crochet, spring flowers, salty t-shirts & stickers, some of the best Jambalaya I’ve ever eaten (Dr. M is a cooking genius)… These are this week’s counterweights. Shannan Martin, one of my favorite internet people, has a book coming out later this month called Counterweights. I’m on the advance reading team and I really recommend it because we need to name the awful AND name the lovely.
Sunday, March 8th
Once again, Craig and I look like we got together beforehand & coordinated our outfits. It was especially fun because we both tag-teamed the gospel reading.

Monday, March 9th
Monday’s mall walking t-shirt. This one was a gift from my bestie!

Tuesday, March 10th
Blooming things! We’ve had this annoying weed in our peony bed. I fully intended to try to cut it down over the winter but never got around to it & boy am I glad I didn’t! It’s the white bush below, which our plant app identified as a Baby’s Breath Spirea. So pretty!

Wednesday, March 11th
Got behind another interesting car. The sticker that really grabbed my attention says “THEY DIDN’T BURN WITCHES THEY BURNED WOMEN.”

Also, here is another birb. Makes me laugh.

Thursday, March 12th
Ate my lunch at dad & Sue’s house.

Friday, March 13th
Having chickens wander through our back yard is just the best thing.

Saturday, March 14th
I got these stickers for my sister-in-law for her birthday (it's in April but I’m giving them to her early because I can’t stand it).

And I made her a bird too! (Bonus photo of my topknot because you can see it reflected in my iPad in the bird photos.)

I had to have bloodwork done on Friday in preparation for my annual physical next week & I’m happy to report that my iron continues to be in the normal range. In fact, the only thing of concern was my creatinine which continues to indicate baby kidney disease. Hopefully my doctor is as happy with the results as I am! What is making you happy these days? Because lord knows we need a little happy!

2026 Project 365 – Week Eight

You guys are SO LUCKY this week! You get to see me in FOUR different toppers! I know you’re really excited, so we’ll just dive in.
Sunday, February 15th
Love song to my husband: I love how absolutely intense you are about curling. Every four years you become an expert with very firm opinions. There is analysis, player bios, cursing, yelling at the announcers, the bliss of your team doing well. And I also love that you will transfer all that intensity to hockey. And, very soon, to baseball! I guess what I’m saying is that I find your 5 wing very sexy 😘.

Monday, February 16th
Another fine dinner by Dr. M. There are chicken thighs under those onions & peppers & they were delicious, but the star of this meal is the pasta with fire roasted tomatoes. Man. SO GOOD!

Tuesday, February 17th
I got a little…exuberant… with the cream cheese on my bagel. Ha! (Those are tiny little penguins on my glasses.)

Wednesday, February 18th
I’m wearing Elmo toppers & you can’t tell me nothin’!

Thursday, February 19th
The daffies behind our house finally opened up!

Friday, February 20th
Things I did during my lunch break: Walked to a shop. Bought art and a ridiculously expensive chocolate bar ($9 whole dollars!). Opened my cigarette pack to find cute earrings. Ate $9.00 of chocolate. 10 out of 10. Highly recommend. (P.S. those are sheep on my glasses!)

Meanwhile, Dr. M enjoyed some deck sitting. Such a glorious false spring day!

Saturday, February 21st
We had a pajama game day at church! It was a blast & we want to do it again for sure (maybe make it a regular thing). We had all ages – from a brand new 7 year old to a 90+ year old. Also, I ate about a quart of banana pudding. My glasses have frogs on them (purchased after hearing about all the frog inflatables from Seattle).

Well, the Olympics are over. Whatever will we do with our time now? We might have to have quiet evenings of reading until hockey starts back up. What a concept! How do you entertain yourself in the evenings?

2026 Project 365 – Week Thirty-seven

We had another social gathering at church today (celebrating one of our founding members, who turned 94 this week & who is a total fire...
