2026 Project 365 – Week Three

I have been so productive today! I’ve washed sheets & blankets, cleaned the floors, half-assed cleaned the bathrooms INCLUDING DR. M’s TUB, dusted (a smidge), got rid of some boxes, did some organizing. Whew!
Sunday, January 11th
I created this after church today to use as my profile pic on the socials. I just felt like I should state the obvious.
Monday, January 12th
This is a photo of the chute at the bank drive-through – I go there every week to deposit the church’s offering & JUST NOTICED on Monday that it’s manufactured in the town we used to live in in Ohio.

Tuesday, January 13th
I was driving home wishing I could capture the gorgeous sky and then Dr. M did it for me!

Wednesday, January 14th
The only photo is this one of my outfit. I had a feeling my boss would tell me the jacket is too big for me (& she did) so I thought this might be the last time I wore it.

Thursday, January 15th
I tried to get into good trouble during today’s mall walking, but as a little old white lady I’m not sure anyone actually looked at me.

Friday, January 16th
The second beaver puzzle is complete!

Saturday, January 17th
I play this game entirely too much, but I’m extra motivated to play this weekend because the team I’m on (Greene) is ahead of the MAGA team. Go us!

We finally got my car out of the shop yesterday. We had them do the work that they could do (new brakes, rotate tires, oil change) & decided to just see how it does with the issue with the back ordered part. When Dr. M drove it, he didn’t notice the scary noise, so maybe it’s just an every now and then issue. We shall see!

2026 Project 365 – Week Two

What can I even say about this week? I really have no words – just a continuation of the anguish I’ve felt since November 2024.
Sunday, January 4th
It was a long church day. I didn’t go to choir practice (since I couldn’t really sing), but I did mask up & go to the service, potluck, and installation service for our new associate pastor. It was lovely!

Monday, January 5th
No photo.

Tuesday, January 6th
No photo.

Wednesday, January 7th
I put a new calendar up at the office.

Thursday, January 8th
Went by Dad & Sue’s during lunch and took a photo of one of his Christmas presents. I gave him a couple of beaver puzzles (to commemorate the beavers out back). Ha!

That evening I got a couple of Wendy’s salads for dinner. They’re so huge! This is Dr. M’s Cobb salad under the lid for his 10 inch pan. Mine was enough for three meals.

Friday, January 9th
This kitten at Dr. M’s dad’s house was NOT amused to be having its picture taken.

Saturday, January 10th
I got something to try to bring some order to yarn chaos. We’ll see how it goes.

My car is still in the shop. It’s the drive train, but the part is on back order. It might be a while. Meanwhile, I’m driving my father’s nearly 20 year old Prius and I’m not mad about it (the energy monitor on it says I’m getting 40.3 mpg!).

P.S. Did anyone notice that we had two December 31sts last week? I’m going to blame cough meds. Although I’m not sure I was taking any at that time.

2024 Project 365 – Week Twenty

Did you know that there are people everywhere? Work, church, parties, my dad’s house, my very own home?? I don’t know man. That seems like a lot.
Sunday, May 12th
Dr. Van Fleet says Happy Mother’s Day!

Monday, May 13th
We only had three peonies this year. Dr. M snipped the third and last ahead of some expected storms and I’m so glad he did! Isn’t it glorious?

Tuesday, May 14th
From the socials: Wherein sleeping beauty has to get up and go to work. While my rage at gen0cide simmers on the back burner. While holding joy that my Hurricanes won last night. While also wishing I could just go back to bed.

Wednesday, May 15th
I told my dad that I was a puzzle hussy.

Thursday, May 16th
Sulfur Cosmos and purple Verbena volunteers.

Went shopping for a friend’s birthday present and bought myself something too. Can you guess which one I kept?

Friday, May 17th
I had also purchased a new top (you can see it in the pictures from Saturday) and all it had on it was this tag in French. I ran it through google translate and was delighted by the results.

Saturday, May 18th
It was my college roommate Sherri’s birthday & her husband organized a surprise party for her. It was so much fun to be a part of it! They live about an hour and forty minutes away so I rode up with Kim and Jenny. It was nice to have the four musketeers together again.

Our Hurricanes fell short of making it to the next level in the playoffs. And my tooth hurts AGAIN. And work continues to be very busy. Also, the world seems to be going to hell. Tune in next week for even more inspirational remarks!

2024 Project 365 – Week Fourteen

My brain doesn’t want to brain today, so just imagine that I wrote something witty here.
Sunday, March 31st
Easter! Also included, a photo of a completed puzzle at my dad's house.

Our phlox has just been so lovely.

Monday, April 1st
A new month! Also, Adam is the worst.

Tuesday, April 2nd
Dad & Sue weren't home when I stopped by during lunch, but that didn't stop me from finishing another puzzle.

Dr. M says: 🎶
This is the blooming of the Asian Wisterias, Asian Wisterias, Wisterias!🎵 This looks to be Wisteria Sinensis (Chinese Wisteria), and it has been growing in Laboratory for many decades. Asian Wisterias bloom in Spring. Japanese Wisteria, when viewed from above, climbs in spirals that run clockwise. These spirals run counterclockwise, indicating that this is Chinese Wisteria.

Look what Dr. M brought home for me!

Wednesday, April 3rd
Dr. M’s mom’s azalea is always gorgeous around the time of The Masters golf tournament.

This is posted specifically for Ellen Abbott who seems to frequently find weird flavors of familiar things. You know I’d try it. I’m a little surprised Dr. M didn’t bring a bag home for me!

Thursday, April 4th
That puddle in my salad is me “using up the last bit of dressing in the bottle.”

Friday, April 5th
Wore my D.J. Burns NC State shirt to work. They played in the final four on Saturday, but alas were defeated by Purdue. It was a great run!

Saturday, April 6th
Dr. M says that there’s nothing so verdant in spring as a field of wheat.

My little life seems to be rolling along without too much drama, but when I look at the wider world I feel hope and despair and rage and joy. It’s all so big and I feel ill equipped to handle it. So I concentrate on what’s right in front of me. And vote.

2024 Project 365 – Week Eight

There are five photos of me this week (I’m counting Sunday as one photo) and in each one I’m wearing a different glasses topper. But I’m not obsessed.
Sunday, February 18th
I got to spend time with my great-nephews (and some other people) Sunday evening! Gray is SO ACTIVE and adorable, and Eli is not quite as active (being an infant) but also adorable. Not pictured: Eli chewing my fingers vigorously.

Monday, February 19th
Sent Dr. M this photo of me eating a protein bar on my way to mall walk with my bestie.

Tuesday, February 20th
A coworker saw this sweater at Goodwill and thought it looked like something I needed. She was RIGHT!

Wednesday, February 21st
No photo.

Thursday, February 22nd
Dr. M got to watch the first spring training game of the season. Woo hoo!

Friday, February 23rd
I voted in the primary. I was very excited to vote for Jeff Jackson for Attorney General – hopefully he makes it through the primary and then wins in the general election.

After work I “had” to stay at Dad & Sue’s house until I finished the puzzle. Hard times. Ha!

Saturday, February 24th
I thought my samurai housewife look was hilarious.

My Valentine tulips have been looking amazing. I’m sure you agree! (Full disclosure – in the process of dusting the table I knocked the remaining petals off. Oops.)

February is almost over and my birthday month is beginning. I have to say that if my birthday wasn’t in March I would not be a fan. It’s so deceptive. I mean, it’s when spring “officially” starts, but does it seem springish? No it does not. Although maybe the problem is what I think spring is supposed to be like. What are your thoughts about March?

2023 Project 365 – Week Fifty-two

Happy New Year! And boy am I ready for it. Although 2024 isn’t shaping up to be any less crazy than 2023. It’s the year that we’re implementing the new computer system we’ve been training on. I turn 60. My body has let me know in no uncertain terms that it cannot tolerate bakery cake 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. But there are good things too! I’m going to try to remember those when I’m in the middle of the madness.
Sunday, December 24th
We went to Golden Corral for Christmas Eve dinner. It was a nice time! But it’s really too bad that Nanny doesn’t like the great grandchildren.

I tried to get a cute Christmas photo of the boys. Success?

Monday, December 25th
Christmas selfies! Dr. M & I went to his dad’s for lunch. While we were there, a couple from his church stopped by with food. Dr. M had been worrying about what to feed his dad since he wouldn’t get his meal delivery for three days – problem solved!

That evening I finished the puzzle my work Secret Santa gave me. So much fun! It was about lap sized (it’s in the lid to a cardboard file box). I loved how so many of the pieces were shaped like critters. Can you see the sheep and penguin?

Tuesday, December 26th
The 40th annual Christmas gathering of college friends! Dr. M made his famous French Toast Casserole and I had a great time.

Or did I?

Wednesday, December 27th
On Wednesday I stayed home.

Thursday, December 28th
On Thursday I went back to work. This is my view on the way home.

Friday, December 29th
Went by dad’s & they had completed the Christmas puzzle. This was a fun one (yes, I realize I say that about almost all the puzzles.)

Amaryllis progress!

Saturday, December 30th
I went to a birthday party for my older great-nephew (he turns three on Monday). I had a nice time. Note the photo of GP with the gift his FATHER gave him – a little drum set. Fortunately it’s not as loud as a full sized one. I gave him books, as usual.

I have tomorrow off and then I’m back to work again. I’ve been invited to a NYE party, but I’m thinking I won’t go (the aforementioned issue with birthday cake). We’ll see – it doesn’t start until 7:30 or 8:00 so I have plenty of time to change my mind. What are you doing tonight? (Or, since most of you will be reading this after today, what did you do for NYE?)

2026 Project 365 – Week Twenty-five

I didn’t go into the office again this weekend! The next two weeks will be very busy again (our new fiscal year starts July 1 st & I ne...
