2025 Project 365 – Week Twenty-five

I’m just going to pretend that I have no anxiety about a possible nuclear escalation. It’s fine. Really. Lalalala…

Sunday, June 15th

I wrote a poem to read at church for Pride Sunday. You can go listen to it here (The text of the poem is in the comments. In retrospect, I wonder if it was more like the All Lives Matter response to Black Lives Matter because I didn’t really focus on LGBTQIA folks).

Monday, June 16th

Found a home for the fox from last week’s cupcake.

Tuesday, June 16th

No photo.

Wednesday, June 17th

Dr. M’s childhood home is getting a glow up! We’re so glad that the lady who bought it is giving it new life. Also, the hydrangea from his mom’s funeral is blooming.

I took a couple of paper daisies made by my friend Jenny and turned them into earrings. I felt VERY CRAFTY for about two minutes.

I got about two inches cut off of my hair and I have to say that every salon needs lap dogs as part of their service.

Thursday, June 19th

It was my mom’s birthday and Juneteenth & I had a lot of feelings that I mostly ignored. ANYway, seen around the yard…

Friday, June 20th

Dr. M made Balrog chicken (unintentionally, but the new lemon pepper seasoning he got was QUITE A BIT more spicy than our old kind).

Saturday, June 21st

Photo shoot for the scrapghan. I’m going to make one more row (so 6 more squares - there was a finished one still blocking & is not pictured). That will make it 70” x 84” before I join & add the border & that will just have to be big enough.

I also worked on this blob. One of my cousins sent this to me & sort of issued a challenge & so I thought I’d give it a shot. I already know I’m frogging at least back to the orange because it’s gotten wavy. We’ll see.

Dr. M & I both made chicken salad out of the Balrog chicken which made it MUCH more palatable. I put blueberries, trail mix, and about a quart of mayo in mine. He substituted broccoli for the trail mix in his.

I kind of feel like making a blob out of yarn is just the way to go right now. What’s your coping mechanism?

2024 Project 365 – Week Twenty-nine

People. It is Saturday night and I did not work today. And I don’t plan to work tomorrow! I thought about it. I could have brought my laptop home & got a lot done. BUT I DID NOT. I hardly know what to do with myself. (Well, obviously right now I’m doing this.)

Sunday, July 21st

I’m just going to leave this right here.

Monday, July 22nd

Went through some complicated hoops to get my mom’s diamond pendant onto this necklace Dr. M gave me because I wanted to wear them together. It kept flipping up, so I decided that it was a fashion statement. Or a symbol to summon a demon. Who even knows the difference these days?

Tuesday, July 23rd

It was the 35th anniversary of our 1st kiss so you get another look at my lovely flowers. Mwah sweetie!

Wednesday, July 24th

Got my hair did. And boy did it need it!

Thursday, July 25th

Dr. M had this fabulous idea of putting Laughing Cow cheese on corn on the cob. It was delicious! And I ate it with my usual decorum. (Also, just noticed while I was putting this post together that I my hair is stuck in the cheese on my face. I’m ridiculous.)

Friday, July 26th

Posted this on the socials asking if this is how an influencer poses.

Snuck away from work to go to my Uncle John’s service at the National Cemetery about an hour away. This is a photo of his wife and remaining siblings. My dad is the only one looking at me.

Meanwhile, Dr. M took his Pop on a ramble.

Saturday, July 27th

About a month ago someone I followed talked about getting something from The Happy Givers. I was in the mood to spend money, so I checked it out & decided to get a mystery order called the Surprise and Delight package. It came today and oh my goodness! I was so thrilled with all the things! It’s especially satisfying because 100% of their proceeds go to help folks in need (rebuilding houses in Puerto Rico, community garden, social kitchen, etc.). Happy Givers indeed!

Not only has work calmed down, my body has calmed down (my BP was down from 170/90 at my doctor's appointment on Tuesday to 129/74 yesterday). And now it feels like there is hope in the land once again. There’s so much excitement and determination to harness this new Democratic momentum. I’m thinking about getting some Chucks. Although at my age I’d need to add some orthotics to them. Maybe I should just wear pearls. (No, I don’t have Kamala fever - why do you ask?) What are you thinking? Will this momentum last until November? Do you think we can win?

2023 Project 365 – Week Fifteen

There are a LOT of pictures this week. That’s just how it happens sometimes, so go ahead & get a second cup of coffee (ewww) and settle in.
Sunday, April 9th - Easter
We had a lovely early(ish) service with brunch afterward. The quilt was made by one of our new members. Gorgeous!

Stopped by Dad & Sue’s. She was still at church, but dad & I finished the latest puzzle.

I posted this on the socials: Is this one of my weird food combos? I’m no longer able to tell. (Lettuce, guacamole, hummus, egg, with Greek dressing & tortilla strips.) It was really good!

Finally, my cousin sent a photo of the puppy who had worn himself out playing with his new toy. Adorable.

Monday, April 10th
I sent this photo to my hairdresser (who happens to be the puppy’s mom) & said that I needed cleanup on aisle 3. She got me in the next day.

Tuesday, April 11th
A random collage: I was wearing a knitted necklace made by one of my Ohio church friends, I still can’t park, and I got to watch the puppy while I was getting my hair trimmed.

Dr. M’s aunt came by to visit with him and his dad and she took this photo of the two of them.

Wednesday, April 12th
Dr. M took a photo of the azalea “carpet” at his dad’s house. Love it!

Also, sheep!

Thursday, April 13th
As I said on the socials: I was today years old (59. I’m 59 years old) when it occurred to me to bring a blanket to the dentist. I usually just sit & shiver (reaction to the anxiety I feel) but no more! I had broken a tooth Monday night so I was there getting a crown. (Note the cameo by the Bobbly out the window)

Friday, April 14th
After the rain: azaleas, Siberian wallflowers, the bee balm army rising, peonies (!!!), day lilies rising, and our little sweet bubby (Carolina Allspice) bush!

Saturday, April 15th
Did some deck sitting, remembering when Pinky was just a seedling in a can (16 years ago!).

It’s Saturday night, and I’m already looking forward to family lunch tomorrow (a repeat of the Texacado Toast I had the other week). But between now & then I have to make the beds, pick out what I’m going to wear, and remember to go to church (I’m lector). What’s on your plate (literally & figuratively) this weekend?

2022 Project 365 – Week Twenty-four

I took a couple of days off this past week & it was most excellent! My only complaint was that I had to put makeup on & leave the house every day, but otherwise it was nice & relaxing.

Sunday, June 12th
No photo. I stayed home from church & apparently did nothing photo-worthy. Well, Dr. M posted a photo of a rash on his leg asking for advice (we were a bit worried that it might be shingles). It turned out to be a reaction to stinging nettle. Rude!

Monday, June 13th
Family Mexican night & I tried the corn. It was SO GOOD but I was laughing so hard I could hardly eat. And I’m pretty sure that a guy in the next booth was videotaping me. It wasn’t until I was halfway through that it occurred to me that I could have cut the corn off the cob which would have been MUCH less messy. Ha!

Tuesday, June 14th
New hair!

Wednesday, June 15th
Seen around the Bug homestead.

Thursday, June 16th
I was off work today! I did a photo shoot for my latest two squares, and I went to my dad’s to visit & work a puzzle. I think maybe that was it? I did crochet some.

Friday, June 17h
Dr. M & I went on a mountain ramble, but before we even left the house we saw this terribly cute little toad! It was no bigger than my thumbnail.

We drove up to Craggy Gardens on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We were a little late for the rhododendrons (last year we were early), but we saw a few of them, plus mountain laurel, fire azaleas, phlox, and a small bear!! I had a mildly amusing long caption for the photo I posted on the socials, which you can read here.

Saturday, June 18th
Washed my hair & turned into a teenage boy.

Went to my dad’s to give him his Father’s Day gift and card. And work a puzzle. (And, yes, visit with him & Sue.)

The Roy!

Today is Father’s Day & my mother’s birthday & Juneteenth & I hardly know which way to turn! Lots of feelings about all three of those holidays. I know that Father’s Day is on your radar (whether you celebrate or not), and I know my mother’s birthday isn’t on your radar. But is Juneteenth? It mainly feels like a day of mourning for me because as a nation we have so far to go.

2021 Project 365 – Week Fifty-two

Merry Day After Christmas everyone! (Boxing Day for people who do that sort of thing.) We are almost done with our celebrations – just one more tomorrow. Well, just one more Christmas celebration – next week we’ll have New Year’s and my great-nephew’s first birthday party. Come January 2nd I’ll definitely be ready for a long winter’s nap!
Sunday, December 19th
After church we went caroling to some of our homebound church members. It was a lot of fun! One of our ladies has been such a valuable member, and we’re all so sad that she can no longer attend. But it was great to see her and her whole family dressed in Christmas jammies.

The moon!

Monday, December 20th
Dr. M has been a wrapping fool, and this is what he had to say about that: I am of the opinion that when one says, “these presents were wrapped with love,” what one means is that profanity was involved in the process.

Tuesday, December 21st
I was having a good hair day, so decided that this was a good “before” picture.

Wednesday, December 22nd
No photo.

Thursday, December 23rd
Hair day!

On my way home I saw this license plate which made me laugh (this is a Schitt’s Creek reference).

Friday, December 24th
I took the vacuum cleaner apart again. I think maybe I figured out the issue. Maybe.

That evening we went to Daddy & Sue’s house with my brother, sister-in-law, nephew, his wife, niece, her boyfriend, and GRAYSON. I mean, I’m pretty sure those other people where there, but really who noticed? Just kidding – we had a great time watching Gray being busy, playing Family Feud, and eating the wonderful meal that Sue made.

Saturday, December 25th
We took lunch to Dr. M’s dad, and after visiting with him for a while we came home and each went to our separate rooms to have some much needed alone time.

Christmas Day Sunset… after which we watched three of our favorite Christmas shows – Olive the Other Reindeer, Claymation Christmas, and Charlie Brown. It was a very nice day.

Tomorrow is the last Christmas gathering – with my college friends. I think this is the 37th year? That seems crazypants – I think my math must be wrong (and as you know, math is not my strong suit). Speaking of which – here are a couple of bonus pictures for you! I finished my temperature blanket this morning! The last day was December 25th. It was actually supposed to be strawberry (it was warm yesterday!), but I ran out of that color, so we ended the year with chartreuse. I’m thinking about doing a border, and was planning on using the three colors that I didn’t use this year (navy, purple, yellow), and I scoped out potential borders in my 150 Border Book (<- not the actual name), but now that I’m looking at them, and the finished blanket, I think they might be too busy. What say you?

2026 Project 365 – Week Thirty-one

Apparently, Dr. M & I were too busy to take photos this week. It rained, and we were having to go hither & yon to Take Care of Stuff...
