2024 Project 365 – Week Forty-five

You know how I have a label on these posts called Drama Queen? There are at least two days this week that deserve that label. It means I’m entertaining, right? Right?

Sunday, November 10th

Too tired to be feral, too feral to be demure…

Monday,  November 11th

Rooster on the loose, and strutting his stuff.

Tuesday, November 12th

I was trying to get a photo where it didn’t look like I just had one giant leg. I take a lot of selfies, but I’m not really all that good at it. Ha!

Wednesday, November 13th

Happy birthday Dr. M!! We had dinner with Dad & Sue & they gave him this balloon. He did level up - this was birthday number 65 & he’s already made good use of his Medicare.

Thursday, November 14th

Rainy days call for soup for lunch.

Friday, November 15th

Dr. M had an outpatient procedure to remove some polyps from his stomach (precancerous). Then we came home & I scrambled some eggs to go on Bojangles' biscuits and sausage.

Saturday, November 16th

This is a dramatic reenactment of the moment I realized that I’m colder this fall because I lost 40 pounds in the last 7 months (on purpose, for my health).

Pinky! She’ll probably have to come inside sometime this coming week, but she’s been perfectly happy on the deck this fall.

How was your week? I’ve moved through a number of stages and have arrived at it is what it is & we’ll just have to see what we see. And now I have my mom singing Que Sera Sera in my head…

2024 Project 365 – Week Thirty-three

I have had such a lazy day! I did like two housekeeping things and otherwise read my book and played on my iPad. It’s been lovely.

Sunday, August 18th

I’ve been working on a project for someone that calls for three strands of yarn held together. It’s interesting seeing the way that changes the look of the project. I’m using up some of my stash, so it will be even weirder before it’s done.

Monday,  August 19th

This is probably niche content, but I had to laugh when I saw the Connections game today. It was as if the person who created it was making a political statement (just google Kamala Harris, coconut tree and brat if you’re curious).

Tuesday, August 20th

I haven’t really talked about work lately. Things are going well! Today we met with a new specialist who helped a lot with some glitches we’ve been having. I look forward to meeting with her again & getting more proficient in the new system.

Wednesday, August 21st

Stayed up way too late the night before watching the Democratic National Convention (and I didn’t even make it until Biden’s speech).

Thursday, August 22nd

Had a dream about my mom and asked the socials for their interpretation: All right you analyzers of dreams, analyze this! Last night I dreamed that I had only gotten my mother one Christmas present so I immediately went online to order the biggest container of Raisinettes ever. Two notes: Mom passed away over 19 years ago, and although I think she liked chocolate covered raisins just fine, I don’t recall that being “her” go-to treat. Here’s my interpretation: seeing all the lovely parents at the DNC was making me miss my mom, and that made me want a snack.

Watched the last night of the DNC. Oh man - such a good convention! So uplifting and joyful that I almost didn’t mind all the sleep I didn’t get. The only stain (to me) is that there wasn’t enough attention paid to the situation in Gaza.

Friday, August 23rd

Kamala Harris is known for wearing Chuck Taylor Converse shoes & I decided that I needed some too. I went to a store and tried some on & thought, “Hmmm. This feels really familiar.” Yeah - I went home and found the ones I bought many years ago. Ha!

Saturday, August 24th

This is a Ms. Pinky Two Tone stan account. Also pictured, the neighbor’s crepe myrtle tree (it’s been a good year for them).

Right this minute I’m listening to Dr. M sing a gospel song set to Danny Boy. And watching the Braves play in a nail-biter. And working on this post. What have you been doing this weekend?

2024 Project 365 – Week Seventeen

I’m enjoying the calm before the storm – open enrollment kicks off a week from Monday and it will be crazypants until the end of June. And in the midst of that we’re still working on our new operating system that supposed to go live July 1st. Some days (like today) I think it’s going to be fine. Other days I’m wondering if 60 is too early to retire and can I just go ahead & do it now.
Sunday, April 21st
I went to church and then had lunch with Dad & Sue. Meanwhile, Dr. M checked out our rain-drenched geraniums. Ms. Rita is loving life outside. Miss Pinky is having her annual snit. She likes it hot and we’re not there yet.

Monday, April 22nd
Morning Dana really appreciates that Evening Dana (most of the time) packs her lunch, picks out what she’s going to wear, & lays out jewelry & toppers.

Tuesday, April 23rd
The conditions were hazy, but Dr. M got what he could of the Pink Moon.

Wednesday, April 24th
No photo.

Thursday, April 25th
I wanted a new profile picture.

Friday, April 26th
Took a photo of dad’s other azalea. It’s not as ginormous as the one I posted last week, but still lovely.

Saturday, April 27th
I was nervous crocheting during hockey & finished sleeve island!

I think I’ve run out of words. Do you have anything interesting to say?

2023 Project 365 – Week Forty-four

There were only mild shenanigans this week, so no need to brace yourself.
Sunday, October 29th
Dr. M ate oatmeal for breakfast. And I went to my dad’s & ate cake. Ha!

Monday, October 30th
Dr. M says, “In Pagan Europe, common folk understood too well that Autumn was a season of last harvests, of color but also of dying, with long, cold nights looming on the horizon.”

Tuesday, October 31st
My only regret is that I never told any employees to walk the plank.

I had to share this photo of my great-nephew Elliott who is adorable in his lion costume.

Wednesday, November 1st
I’m making progress on my cardigan. Since this photo was taken I’ve completed the bottom ribbing & started on the button band. But then I’ll have to stop because I haven’t gotten the buttons yet – I want to make sure the holes fit the buttons I end up with.

Thursday, November 2nd
The three stages of getting ready for work. I put the middle photo as my FB profile picture & judging by the number of “hearts” it got I’m guessing people are blessing my heart in the good old southern meaning of the phrase. Ha!

Friday, November 3rd
Ms. Pinky & Miss Rita are in the tub for winter. This year they’re considerably less extravagant than usual – we actually trimmed them before bringing them inside.

Saturday, November 4th
I “let” Dr. M borrow my car so he can get gas for me on Saturdays. One of us (me) might have cut it closer than usual this week. Oops!

We’re moving into the holiday season, which seems ridiculous given what’s happening in the world. Can I tell folks that I’m not participating in protest? That probably wouldn’t fly around here. I’ll just have to move through the season with this extra angst on top of my usual angst. Happy holidays?

2023 Project 365 – Week Forty-one

Another week, another bunch of photos. Sorry!
Sunday, October 8th
Random photos of the Squishmallow and his adorable brother. I got to hold him for quite a while (insert heart eyes emoji here).

I told Dr. M to go check the daylilies because they were drunk (as I recall we had a second blooming last year too).

Monday, October 9th
Ready for the Braves game! They won in dramatic fashion, but they ended up losing later in the week. It was SUCH a good season & I’m really sad they didn’t go further into the postseason. Ah well – next year!

Tuesday, October 10th
Dr. M’s “last brunch” before his colonoscopy.

Wednesday, October 11th
Dr. M & his dad were accidental twins!

Thursday, October 12th
Isn’t he adorable? His colonoscopy had mixed results – they found 8 (probably benign) polyps, but there was a section that they couldn’t see because it was filmy. They think it might be due to one of the things they had him take during the prep. This means he’ll have to go back within the year so they can check that section.

Me, tonight, watching a show about UFOS: "What a load of poppycock!"

Me, this morning at 1:30 a.m. after being awakened by voices in the bedroom & discovering that the audiobook on my phone just "happened" to be playing: "Are there ghosts in this house, and do they know my iPhone password?"

But seriously - what in the world??!!

Friday, October 13th
Ms. Rita got a new pot (and had a couple of “tenants” evicted in the process). Plus, bonus Pinky content.

Saturday, October 14th
Dr. M posted this lovely photo on the socials & one of our friends called it Christina’s World – it really is!

Meanwhile, lookit Ellen – I did (a tiny little smidge of) yard work!

I ended up having to order yarn for my cardigan, so I started a new project (because of course why would I work on any of the umpteen WIPs I have in little bags around the house?).

This week has been full of horror of war, clown politics, incomplete medical procedures, and the loveliness of fall. I’m trying (and failing) to hold it all. How are you doing?

2023 Project 365 – Week Twenty-five

While folks in Texas have been baking, we’ve had lots of rain and high temps in the 60s. Frankly, it was rude (although I think we needed the rain).
Sunday, June 18th
Father’s Day! I went mall walking with this dude & we talked about all the important things.

Monday, June 19th
Dr. M spent some time doing a photo shoot with the wildflower bed. Makes my heart happy.

Tuesday, June 20th
I was intrigued by these little flips in my hair today. I kind of like them, but will I be able to create this look again? Magic Eight Ball says not likely. Ha!

Wednesday, June 21st
Today at lunch I got to hang out with this squishmallow! He is so tiny and adorable. And his older brother is still the cutest thing ever. Smooches for everyone!

Thursday, June 22nd
Dr. M & I bought this calendar at Dollywood AGES ago. Twenty years? I can’t remember, but I know we had it when we lived in our first home in Ohio. Dr. M painted squares and scenes to use in it & I loved it, but I got tired of switching it over to the new month, so it’s been packed away for a long time. Anyway, I thought it might be fun to have in my office at work. I used the Valentine square to mark the anniversary of our first kiss. Ha!

Friday, June 23rd
A coworker complimented me on my terrible parking job (he knows about my hashtag #thebugparkingbadly). I didn’t believe him, so I looked out the bathroom window and well… I did go & move it later.

Dr. M got a last photo of the phoebe babies before they fledged. Also, Rita and Ms. Pinky had a little photo shoot, but the neighborhood cat was disinclined.

Saturday, June 24th
Dr. M picked blueberries at his dad’s house. This has been a weird weather year, so this might be all we get.

Progress so far on a woodland animals blanket for the squishmallow up there (yes I know I’m stretching the definition of “woodland” by including a penguin). I’m terrible at embroidering so you probably can’t tell, but the fox is labeled Nean. That was my mom’s grandma name, and her maiden name was Fox, so I had to, right?

This week was really quiet at work, but the next four weeks in a row are going to be BUSY again. Lots of data entry in compressed amounts of time. Should be fun! Wait – I just remembered that the fifth week will involve four days of training on our new software system. Yay for July? How about you – is your summer going to be nice and meandering as it should be?
