2026 Project 365 – Week Six

I don’t know man, February is the worst, and the national news is also the worst.
Sunday, February 1st
Snow.

Monday, February 2nd
This was my post on the socials: February from my Mary Engelbreit calendar. It looks like it should be so easy, but it keeps slipping out of our grasp. Like maybe a giant orange cat is slapping it out of our hands. Or something. Yours, in love and rage, The Bug.

Tuesday, February 3rd
Dr. M is glad to report that our daffodils are very hardy!

Wednesday, February 4th
Dr. M saw sheep!

My mall walking T-shirt.

 Thursday, February 5th
It snowed AGAIN. It was very pretty & didn’t really stick around (or add to what was still on the ground). But still. I was unamused.

Friday, February 6th
I finally updated my Dollywood calendar and once again decided that the Mt. Rushmore square (for President’s Day) needed to be upside down.

Saturday, February 7th
Pop was tired of sitting in the house! He has a little sheltered nook out by the shed. Dr. M, however, was NOT sheltered so he got a little cold.

Also, the cats are doing just fine.

I’ve basically been cold all week (except for that lunch hour I spent driving in my car when it was sunny that one day) and watching the winter Olympics is NOT HELPING. I’m currently sitting in my recliner with my heating pad on even though I don’t actually have a backache. What’s your current situation?

2026 Project 365 – Week Five

Well it was a VERY WINTRY week around these parts, for heaven’s sake. I’m simultaneously not thrilled, and also happy about not leaving my house. We takes our wins where we can gets them!
Sunday, January 25th
The ice event actually did dump a good bit of ice in our area.

Monday, January 26th
I didn’t go to work – I wasn’t sure I’d be able to make it up to the main road! Dr. M worked very hard to make sure I was warm and cozy.

Tuesday, January 27th
Daisy has Ohio winter muscle memory & served Dr. M well in getting out to see his dad.

Wednesday, January 28th
My mall walking T-shirt.

Thursday, January 29th
It’s just been like that around here (you’ll be glad to know that I still haven’t eaten all of these M&Ms.

Friday, January 30th
At the end of the day I looked out the bathroom window at work & saw this near miss. I mean, technically I’m in the line, but still…

Saturday, January 31st
Our second wintry event started overnight on Friday and we ended up with about 6-7” of snow. Very pretty, but for heaven’s sake (I repeat myself). It finally stopped late in the evening & today (Sunday) it’s been sunny.

Heather was unamused by the accumulation. I really need to make her a sweater. Ha!

No church today, and I will probably operate on a 2-hour delay for work tomorrow (waiting on the temps to get up into the teens – it’s going to be VERY COLD tonight!). I’d like the weather gods to know that I’m good now – no more ice & snow. Pitchers & catchers report next week!!

2025 Project 365 – Week Three

You know, once snow stops falling it’s kind of annoying. Just FYI.

Sunday, January 12th

Out back. One of these birds is not like the others.

Dr. M outdid himself. Again.

Monday, January 13th

The moon!

Tuesday, January 14th

How it started and how it ended up. This was surprisingly meditative!

Wednesday, January 15th

No photo.

Thursday, January 16th

I’m the person who manages the process of random nicotine testing at work. I pull the list of eligible employees and run them through a randomizer. I was highly amused when I ended up on the list. I should probably have taken myself off because is it really a random test when I have a heads up?

Friday, January 17th

No photo of our own, but the poor boys were sick with flu (and Elliott had strep & an ear infection). Elliott had a spend a few nights in the hospital, but he’s home now - and now their parents are sick. Poor little family… (but I confess it made me smile when I saw the blanket I made Elliott.)

Saturday, January 18th

I got a new phone case that makes me laugh - it matches my personality perfectly (a combination of everything is going to be fine (even if it isn’t) and OMG WHAT IS HAPPENING.

I think I’ve settled into resignation about the new/old era that starts tomorrow. I plan to spend the day crocheting and listening to the audio of this book. How are you doing? Oh! I just looked a little bit ago & our low is going to be 11 degrees on Tuesday. Woot?

2025 Project 365 – Week Two

After several years of nary a flake, we actually got snow in our neck of the woods. Not as much as our northern & western neighbors got, but around four inches. Some of us may have lost our heads, as often happens when there’s a snow event. Dr. M and I, of course, remained calm, cool, and collected. (No really I didn’t wig out or anything!)

Sunday, January 5th

Today’s sermon made me think of this poem about the underground railroad and the moody sky just seemed to echo it.

I pulled my hair up to do some housework & thought this was as good a time as any to take a photo of my new penguin toppers.

Monday, January 6th

Dr. M says, “Now I’m not suggesting that an angel of the Lord restocked these Toaster Scrambles at the Neighborhood Walmart, or that the Almighty gives preferential treatment to capitalism, but sometimes it feels like a miracle when I find these. I’m sure some probably underpaid and overworked employee(s) did the stocking. But in just doing their jobs, people all along the supply chain made it possible for me to secure Pop’s go to breakfast food for another couple of weeks. Folks, the song that has been playing in my jukebox of a brain is one we sang way back: glory be to God on high, set to the tune of Michael rowed the boat ashore. Hallelujah.”

Tuesday, January 7th

Back to wearing compression socks (and really shouldn’t have stopped wearing them to work) and man I had forgotten what a workout they are to get on!

Wednesday, January 8th

This used to be a hat (it was too small).

Thursday, January 9th

It was 20 degrees when I left for work, but I still felt Daisytastic!

Meanwhile, Dr. M was demonstrating the uses for chain mail on cast iron.

Friday, January 10th

I finished the hat! It has an opening for a ponytail.

And we got snow! Dr. M’s dad was like a little kid standing at the door watching it come down.

My view on my (very slow) drive home from work.

Saturday, January 11th

Birbs in the snow.

We went to lunch with Dr. M’s aunt and cousins. It was a lovely day but this is the only photo I took - of our road as we were heading their way.

I had a rough week in the self esteem department (work stuff), but my physical pain mostly abated, landing in one knee and my shoulder. But my rough week is nothing compared to the devastation in California. I count myself fortunate that my physical needs are so well cared for that I have the bandwidth to worry about self esteem. How was your week?

2022 Project 365 – Week Three

I’m feeling somewhat disconsolate this week because of the things that are happening nationally. I’m trying to hold on to all the good things that Biden and his administration have accomplished so that I’m not as crushed by the big disappointments. I’m about ready to bury my head in the sand again for the sake of my peace; but even though most of what is happening in politics won’t affect me negatively, it will affect others. Someone I follow on Instagram said that, for example, we need to quit thinking about “others” being disenfranchised and think instead that, “some of us” will have a harder time to vote. I’m going to start imagining those of us for whom diminished democracy is catastrophic. I’m still tired though.

But enough about depressing things – here are my pictures (& two videos!) for the week. There’s a lot – a nice distraction.
Sunday, January 16th
Snow day!

Monday, January 17th
I couldn’t squeeze any more out so I thought I’d cut it open & get one more dab before I tossed the tube. But look at all that eye cream gold! That’s probably enough for a whole week! Maybe two! P. S. After I took the picture I used a Q-tip to get more out. Maybe I should have cut the tube so I could lay it flat.

We got around 3 – 4 inches of snow. I’m very glad I didn’t have to go to work! I had a little help with the bit of snow shoveling that I did.

Full Wolf Moon.

Tuesday, January 18th
The first four miles of my commute were a bit treacherous, but I made it to work. I waited until the sun was fully up before heading out.

Wednesday, January 19th
I don’t like it, but I do it. I know a lot of people can’t for all kinds of reasons, but if you, can please consider giving blood. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. (P.S. the prohibition against gay men giving blood is ridiculous. Fix it Jesus!)

Thursday, January 20th
I signed up for a class at my local university, Race Matters, a Multidisciplinary Exploration of Race in America. I’m pretty excited about it! Now I just need to remember how to be a student again…

Friday, January 21st
Stopped by Daddy & Sue’s house and FINISHED THIS *&^$# PUZZLE! Let us never speak of it again.

I also finished the border on my temperature blanket. I’m not sure when I’ll ever get a good photo of it – our yard is still pretty soggy. I might have to just try to do it in the living room.

Saturday, January 22nd
This morning’s breakfast! I was very excited about it, but it turns out I don’t really like banana peppers and eggs together. Lesson learned!

Other things I did (clockwise from top right): 1. Played with the macro setting on my new phone by taking a close-up photo of a feral impatiens blossom. 2. Had the bright idea of taking a photo of my temperature blanket on the deck. Um, nope. 3. Sorted out this tangled mass of yarn and forgot to take an after photo. 4. Put the sheets I got as a Christmas gift on the bed (microfiber – very cozy!).

I’m continuing to try to finish up crochet projects in progress before I start something new, but IT IS VERY DIFFICULT. Why do we like to start things but not finish them? Are you like me, or are you a finisher?

2026 Project 365 – Week Thirty-six

I’m laughing at this week’s photos because there are two photos of a wound situation – what an exciting week! Sunday, August 30 th The churc...
