I don’t know man, February is the worst, and the national news is also
the worst.

Snow.

This was my post on the socials: February from my Mary Engelbreit calendar. It looks like it should be so easy, but it keeps slipping out of our grasp. Like maybe a giant orange cat is slapping it out of our hands. Or something. Yours, in love and rage, The Bug.
Dr. M is glad to report that our daffodils are very hardy!

Dr. M saw sheep!
It snowed AGAIN. It was very pretty & didn’t really stick around (or add to what was still on the ground). But still. I was unamused.
I finally updated my Dollywood calendar and once again decided that the Mt. Rushmore square (for President’s Day) needed to be upside down.

Pop was tired of sitting in the house! He has a little sheltered nook out by the shed. Dr. M, however, was NOT sheltered so he got a little cold.
Also, the cats are doing just fine.
I've been cat sitting all week for a marvelous, loving little creature. Her people are getting home tonight, and I'm a little sad about it. She was more of a purring lap cat than my Dixie Rose was. Now I'm having to beat every thought of getting another kitty out of my head. Not practical, especially when I consider the cost of vet bills these days.
ReplyDeleteI've been cold all week as well, even though our temperatures have been quite mild. The problem is that my apartment's directly on a concrete slab, so it stays several degrees cooler inside than outside until the concrete finally warms up. There is a month or two when that's perfection, of course. It heats up outside, but I can delay turning on the AC because of that cool slab.
I remember our tulips in Iowa blooming in Easter snow. They did just fine. I've been working weekends as well as during the week, but I need to slip away for an afternoon and see what nature's getting up to. I suspect there are native flowers beginning to appear; landscape flowers never took a real hit this winter, so the pansies and snapdragons are gorgeous.
I've thought about the whole that Dixie Rose left in your life - but I totally get the impracticality for you of having another cat. Glad you're getting some cat time!
DeleteWell, it warmed up here. From cold to hot. No inbetween.
ReplyDeleteSounds like me.
DeleteWelcome to the HPC--Heating Pad Club! Mine has been a permanent fixture for months, and it will be for the foreseeable.
ReplyDeleteI applaud your symbolism for Presidents' Day. Our forefathers are simultaneously rolling in their graves, rolling their eyes, and wagging their fingers whilst shouting, "Shame! Shame! Shame on you!"
Also, they weren't all that their own selves - not as bad as the current resident of the White House, but possibly not "giant head on a mountain" worthy.
DeleteI love that first photo. You may be sick of the snow, but that's really pretty. I think January is a worse month than February overall. Here in England, February is much brighter, particularly toward the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteI liked that one too!
