At work we all agreed that this was The Longest Week Ever. We weren’t
sure why, but we were sure glad for it to be over. On the other hand, other
than a sore arm for a few days, I had no ill effects from my COVID booster –
AND the cortisone shot has definitely helped with my shoulder pain.

Took take-out to Dad & Sue’s (Dr. M joined us!) but Tragedy! I cut both thumbs opening the aluminum container that had my shrimp and grits in it. The food was good, but apparently dangerous. (Note: my thumbs were fine after a couple of days.)

I bought myself a Mary Engelbreit calendar for 2026. She is actually a very fiery advocate for all the peoples. Check out the empowerment section of her Amazon store here!
I’m currently reading David Gate’s book “A Rebellion of Care” and it is fabulous. Every page is an ah or a kick in the gut or a happy sigh. You should check it out! I shared this because of the Tylenol kerfuffle (and that makes it sound like no big deal, but why are all these medical decisions hurting women in particular?)

Another beautiful (and tasty!) meal by Dr. M and his iron.
I saw this tiny little sticker on the car in front of me & it made me smile.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here & say that it’s possible that I added a smidge too much cinnamon to these apples. Perhaps.
My dad made jam from his grapes and it is FABULOUS. Its tartness curls my tongue in just the right way. I might have to have another piece of toast for dessert later!
(Glimpses of my water bottles for subversive purposes.)
Drilled holes in the bottom of a (very) hard plastic pot this morning, preparing to transplant a vine from another pot for better drainage. The pots only come with one small drain hole, which quickly becomes clogged with potting soil.
ReplyDeleteI hope you wore eye protection!
DeleteThat is a lot of cinnamon on those apples. On the other hand, seeing that cinnamon made me hungry for cinnamon toast. That reminded me that my mother always kept a shaker full of cinnamon sugar next to the toaster. My mother was a wise woman.
ReplyDeleteRe: Tylenol. I never, ever, ever take medical advice from politicians or bureaucrats. It's part of my health care plan!
I have cinnamon sugar in my sugar bowl! But I didn't even think about using that instead of trying to gently shake the cinnamon from our giant container (that didn't work at ALL).
DeleteI don't have to worry about Tylenol, not that I think it causes autism (what a bunch of lunatics in charge). It doesn't particularly work on me. I much prefer ibuprofen.
ReplyDeleteI got two major chores done in the yard yesterday.
The only thing I use Tylenol for is fevers - it has never worked for pain for me. And of course you worked in the yard!
DeleteOK, that cinnamon picture made me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteWilliam Henry Harrison got his just desserts in the end, only living a month into his presidency.
It was very popular on the socials - I think I hit peoples' funny bones just right. And yes - ole Tippecanoe did get his comeuppance!
DeleteI love the snarky subtlety of the window decal. IYKYK, and IK.
ReplyDeleteIsn't cinnamon such a homey spice? The scent of it always makes me feel cozy and comfy. Cinnamon toast was a constant for wintry breakfasts when I was a school kid. It never stops being wonderful.
I laughed at that decal quite a bit.
