2026 Project 365 – Week Thirteen

I was really sad to hear that Bruce Taylor (Catalyst from Oddball Observations) died last week. He was one of the 5 remaining faithful commenters on my blog, and I always looked forward to his Friday Funnies. His beloved wife Judy (SWMBO) passed away a few months ago and I suppose he didn’t want to hang around without her. I’m going to miss his snarky commentary about DST (Arizona doesn’t have DST) and winter weather.
Sunday, March 22nd
I was cutting down some weeds in the phlox & saw so many butterflies that I I told Dr. M he needed to check them out. So he headed out with the big camera & got some good photos. Yellow morph & black morph Eastern Tiger Swallowtails on pink phlox.

Monday, March 23rd
Spring beauty from Lincoln County – Mike’s mom’s azalea, phlox, wisteria, & dogwood.

Tuesday, March 24th
My print copy of Shannan Martin’s book Counterweights arrived! I have really enjoyed reading it.

Wednesday, March 25th
Our Carolina Allspice (Sweet Bubby) bush is doing its thing. It smells heavenly!

Thursday, March 26th
I posted this on the socials: It’s not even 9am & I already have chocolate on my sweater (mini Butterfingers for the win!). How’s your day going?

Friday, March 27th
Girl lunch! It was an excellent combo – salty chips & sweet hummus.

Saturday, March 28th
Dr. M saw this giant rooster in Worldwide Imports and sent me a photo. My response? WE NEED HIM! Unfortunately, I’m not sure he’s worth $100.

Next Sunday is Easter & I’m already pre-grumbling about having to be at church at 7:15 am for choir practice (the service is at 8:00). On the other hand, we have brunch afterward & that will be amazing. See? Counterweights! What are you complaining about/celebrating this week?

  1. My primary complaint? That work obligations (even on weekends) are preventing me from getting out to see the wildflowers as much as I'd like. My primary celebration? That I have work that will help to pay the bills, not to mention the taxes and insurance. So it goes.

I don't remember Bruce, but it's often a loss more sharply felt than many assume when one of our blogging friends dies. It's happened for me a few times, and I often ponder how much I miss them, even after some time has passed. On the other hand, it's somehow worse when a real favorite simply disappears, with no information at all about the reason. Even in the virtual world, closure is important!

    1. I was thinking the same thing about closure! His granddaughters updated his blog to let us all know that he had died. I had one lady that I followed years ago who disappeared & a number of us did posts asking what had happened to her. She showed back up without comment one day & then disappeared again. Rude!

And this makes me realize I need to have a plan in place on my socials for my eventual demise. I'll name a social media executor in my will. Ha!

  3. Don't really have any complaints. Life is generally good. Oh maybe...no rain! The good part is I don't have to carry water from the river in buckets.

  4. Oh, I miss my spice bush so much! The scent is so heavenly. I'm anxiously awaiting the blooming trees, my favourite part of springtime. Right now, just a few weeping cherry trees are starting.

Did you know there is a skeleton version of that rooster? There's one in a yard along our route to the lakehouse. ALL. YEAR. LONG. Sigh.

    1. I was trying to figure out how to describe the scent to someone & I couldn't really come up with anything to compare it to. Spearmint? I don't know, but it smells delicious.

I am going to have to look into this skeleton thing (just purely for curiousity's sake). Also, spellcheck doesn't like "curiosity's." Is that not a word? It's not curiosities...

  5. I suspect that rooster will go on sale before too long! I've never seen that allspice bush before. Wish I could smell it! Why don't we all have scratch-and-sniff blogs?!

2026 Project 365 – Week Fifteen

What a busy week! And it wasn’t even work’s fault – I was a social butterfly and now I’d like to just hang out on a petunia for a while. Sun...
