Snow Lies

Snow Lies

The snow lies softly
on the curve of the bare branch
as if its touch might arouse
as if this frozen blanket
might cause the sap
to burst through the
wound of your heart
as if you might awaken
to find my hand
on the curve of your bare arm
as if I might melt into
dark dormant bark
and wait for spring

  1. This is so lovely...we need to work on making the "as ifs" of our lives fond memories...

  3. Now see? That's what I love about you! You take a four letter word and turn it into something beautiful.

  4. Interesting -- you've used a cold substance to create an overall impression of warmth!

  6. You know, the more I reread this the more I hear Angelica's (Meg Ryan) voice from Joe Versus the Volcano - I don't know why, but it feels like something she would write :)

  7. I like the irony of "Lies" in your title, Bug. So sardonic the voice we can hear if we want to read it that way. Two conflicting juxtaposed levels makes goose bumps, girl...

And these lines have plenty of power:
    "might cause the sap
    to burst through the
    wound of your heart"
    They wring my own heart.

  8. This one is wonderful, Bug! I often wished to "melt into dark dormant bark and wait for spring." I just didn't know how to say it.

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
