Today is a
very special day in our household – it’s Dr. M’s birthday! Let’s see, he went
to take care of his dad, bought me cupcakes for his birthday, and heated up
soup he had made yesterday for us to have for dinner. So as you can tell, he
had a great day. OK, maybe I should step up my celebration game…
Sunday, November 7th
Today we lit candles at church in honor of people who have died & mine was for my mom. When I talked about her I mentioned her “Lucy-ness” which reminded me of this poem. I used to tag along to concerts with her & her best friend & on the way home we’d get donuts, which required several illegal u-turns with lots of maniacal laughter. This donut’s for you Momcat!
It’s Venus and the moon!
Monday, November 8th
When I woke up, my Fitbit was dead. After I got it rebooted, I saw this. I know I’m not a super active person, but even I can’t take negative 3,000 steps in an hour!

The moon!
Wednesday, November
10th
No photo. Why didn’t Dr. M take another picture of the moon?
Thursday, November
11th
My caption from the socials: At least I like the racial diversity in these weird Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas hybrid Santas. (I just wrote & deleted a statement about how they’re tasty because 😳😳😳).
Friday, November 12th
Somehow my purse strap got completely entangled in my shawl. It was the weirdest thing & I had to completely take the shawl off to get it sorted out.
Dr. M got an early birthday present (that he bought for his own self) – a Braves World Series championship hat. Isn’t he the cutest thing?
Saturday, November
13th
Woo hoo to Dr. M! I bought him a couple of silly gifts – an Enneagram 4 t-shirt and some Enneagram 4 pencils. If you’d like to know what Dr. M is like, just read these. Ha!
Took a photo of Ms. Pinky
& Ms. Rita before they were brought inside for the winter. Also, look at
this crazy cosmos trying to bloom.
It has been
absolutely gorgeous around here, but I haven’t tried to get any photos because what
my camera captures is quite inferior to what my eye sees. I follow a person on
Instagram who has taken some fabulous fall pictures – check her out here if you’d like to see some
beauty. Where are you finding beauty these days?

Our fall days...clear blues skies, no humidity, cool to coldish at night but warm during the days.
ReplyDeleteeverybody is wearing those fitbits or apple watches but not me. I don't need a robot telling me to get up or that I haven't walked enough and need to close my circle. It's like having a nag at you all the time. Besides, my wrist is so small it would probably just flop around which I would hate and why I never got the habit of wearing a watch.
Someone gave me my first Fitbit watch after my hip surgery - it had a feature to remind me to get up & get at least 250 steps each hour. Since I was working from home I just didn't get up as often as I should have to keep from getting stiff. I rarely look at my steps these days - I mostly use it as a timer & to see how well I slept. Ha!
DeleteWhat on earth is an enneagram? I get the strap entanglement -- my scarves are always getting tangled in my headphones and/or my camera bag.
ReplyDeleteThe Enneagram is a personality typing system (sort of like Myer's Briggs). I've found it to be VERY accurate. It is based on the idea that there are 9 types (with a LOT of variation among the types for reasons too complicated to go into here). Your type is determined by your "core fear." It sounds very woo woo, but I think it's been really helpful. You can go here and click on the types to read about them (I'm a 9).
DeleteWe had our first measurable snowfall of the season. Ugh. Rick and I were driving home from southern Maryland, where we didn't even need a jacket. What a terrible homecoming it was. It's all melted now, and our temps will reach 60 by Thursday, but plummet by Friday. Of course.
ReplyDeleteI think the last time I took the Enneagram, I was a sturdy 1. That was years ago. Hmmm....
I've been seeing all the snow pictures - I'm so sorry!!
DeleteI have a strong 1 wing, but obviously the 9 just overwhelms it most of the time. Ha!
I get my purse tangled all teh time in my hood on my coat - I dont even know how it happens - but it makes me panic when I get get it off
ReplyDeleteYeah - I was in the bathroom for a reason - I didn't have time for that conundrum (although of course I had time to take THREE PHOTOS- ha!).
DeleteI made a mushroom stroganoff this week. That was pretty beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds DIVINE! I've been a mushroom fanatic lately.
DeleteJust dropping in to say hi. Had my ablation on November 3rd and it was successful. Went back to work the following week without any issue.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if I'm going to post anything anytime soon. Kinda lost my drive to write for now.
Sorry to be so late, Happy Birthday Dr. M!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate learning more about the Enneagram types. I think I may be a 9.
