2025 Project 365 – Week Eighteen

I am working on this post instead of my latest crochet project which is supposed to be a hand flipping the bird but instead looks a lot like a set of green pickles. Don’t ask.

Sunday, April 27th

Our Sweet William is so lovely!

Monday, April 28th

People. My belt was getting on my nerves so I switched it to go the other way. Then later I couldn’t get it unfastened & there was almost an industrial accident situation. I knew I wasn’t very dexterous but this is ridiculous.

Tuesday, March April 29th

I don’t know. I’ve decided to absolve myself of any issues with matching my colors together. In the bathroom my shirt looks royal blue. Everywhere else it’s teal.

Wednesday, April 30th

On clear liquids today & this is what I have to say about that. I actually did pretty well at work until I hit a wall around 3:30 & went home.

The moon man, asking for his sisters of the moon to keep me in their thoughts & prayers.

Thursday, May 1st

Back home from the procedure - I decided to bake on the deck while I was still feeling pretty baked from the anesthesia. They found some inflammation & took some biopsies, but there weren’t any polyps. I guess we’ll see what the biopsies say, but I’m still feeling pretty confident that there’s nothing seriously wrong. Unless they come back & say I have to quit drinking Diet Sundrop. That would be very sad.

Friday, May 2nd

Peaches has really thrived in her rocky home! I love how the buds are a peachy yellow color.

Saturday, May 3rd

It’s Dr. Van Fleet O’clock!

It feels like the world is crumbling around us. Democracy is being upended. The social safety net is being torn asunder. The word “citizen” seems to no longer have any meaning. But I take comfort in a few things. People aren’t taking this lying down - they are protesting & using their voices & the courts. And I just finished reading Heather Cox Richardson’s book, Democracy Awakening and was reminded of all the other perilous times in our country. We made it through to the other side those times, so perhaps we can make it through this one. In the meantime, I have some pickles fingers to crochet!

  1. Another reader and I were talking today about pinking shears. Your Sweet William petals look like someone cut them out with those shears. I love all the combinations of colors. I'm glad you got that procedure behind you -- I hope it confirms that you can boogie on down the road without any other problems -- and with your Diet Sundrop! As for the country, this is what I've been pondering this weekend: given that both Canada and Australia have clearly said, "Uh, no thank you" to much of what our President represents, our own politicians might be nervously scanning the horizon, especially since most politicians are dedicated to self-preservation above all else.

    1. The DO look like they've been cut with pinking shears! I've been hoping that politicians' inherent sense of self-preservation might kick in. I guess it still could, but will they be too late?

  2. I'm very heartened by the backlash against far-right policies in other countries' elections. I thought for sure that our mistake was evidence of a trend. Nice to see that it may not be.

  3. You're crocheting a hand shooting a bird? I'm very curious about that story!

Glad you came through the "procedure" OK. I had polyps removed too. The liquid-diet day was definitely the worst part for me.

I did not know HCR has a book!

  4. HRC's letter from yesterday...Trump doesn't know if he has to follow the Constitution if he disagrees with it. He took a fucking oath to protect, defend, and uphold the Constitution. This country is being trotted to hell in a handbasket, everything you listed and more. Like JFK Jr returning to medical practices of a century ago when doctors kept their bloody knives in a velvet case. Germs? Pfft. Vaccines? Who need them. You just need to be well nourished to not get sick except all the supplemental food programs are being ended.

Ending on a more pleasant note, love the picture of the crescent moon, a Cheshire cat moon.

    1. Trump and RFK are both really dumb and really dangerous.
