2025 Project 365 – Week Twenty-two

I think maybe I read one blog post all week. And that’s all you need to know about that.

Sunday, May 25th

We long ago solved the problem of folding fitted sheets by always washing our sheets & putting them back on the bed. But, reader, the time of elves has passed. I put the summer sheets on the bed & then had to “fold” these. I think I did a pretty good job! There was a smidge of cussing.

Monday, May 26th

Our Carolina Hurricanes didn’t win the Stanley Cup semifinals, but on this night they won this game! It was the first time they’d won a game in the semifinals since 2006 when they won the Stanley Cup. Our coach was the captain of that team. It was a good season.

Tuesday, May 27th

Dr. M made another amazing soup for me. When I told my dad & Sue that I was heading home to eat soup, Sue said that he’d had soup for lunch. He’d offered to let her have some but SHE DIDN’T WANT SOUP WITH PIZZA IN IT. What. Turns out when he reheated the pizza it got too crispy so it injured the roof of his mouth. He was delighted that the soggy pizza caused no scrapeage. Reader, he left the olives on the pizza even though he doesn’t like olives. So any and all commentary about my weird food should now cease.

Wednesday, May 28th

Many years ago I sent a fellow blog friend (Sandra Leigh) a prayer shawl that I’d made. She returned the favor this week. I think I’ll be making good use of this!

“My” blueberries are coming on strong!

Thursday, May 29th

Ms. Pinky is getting over her annual snit!

Friday, May 30th

Daylily Nation is still going strong.

Saturday, May 31st

Dr. M took a photo of one of my favorite scenes.

I spent a couple of hours in the office after church today, and I could I have stayed another three. I keep telling myself that other times of the year are not this crazy, so there will be an end in sight. Maybe in August? If you are having a calm spring/summer I do not want to hear about it. Just kidding - tell all!

  1. I just made the switch from flannel sheets to summer cotton, so I've been through the "how the dickens do I fold this fitted sheet routine." To be honest, there's nothing neat about it, but it fits in its designated space. That's all I ask.

I love that hay, and Ms. Pinky does look splendid. Your blueberry crop is fabulous! I'm trying to eat up what I still have in the freezer so I can replace them with some of this year's berries.

I went over to East Texas this weekend and properly wore myself out in the heat, so I'm eager for the work week to begin -- except, of course, that I'll still be working in the heat. I keep reminding myself that southern women don't sweat; we 'glow.'

    1. I hope you don't have to glow TOO much this week (but you live in Texas, so who am I kidding?).

  2. Pretty shawl. The match with your specs is fabulous.

I wish I liked blueberries. It's a texture and a taste thing. I don't even like them cooked. They taste sort of musty/basementy to me. I'd much rather have a blackberry or a raspberry.

Fitted sheets--I don't care about folding them, period. I wad them up and stick them in the linen cupboard. I've seen a ton of so-called easy methods for folding them, but I'm not willing to put in the time. Who cares?

    1. Sometimes I think of it as a puzzle to be solved & if I have the time I'll try (I mean, I loved playing with Rubik's Cubes back in the day). But, yes, I'm rarely successful.

  3. OK, it cracks me up that you've been using sheets with Christmas elves on them and it's now MAY!

Pizza soup is a new one on me. I think I'll pass.

  6. Fitted sheets are Satan's revenge! Get them outta here! I love Dr. M's photo of the field. It's calmed me down from thinking about fitted sheets.
