People, I am sick. Cold or allergy – who knows. I stayed home from
church today. Dr. M took lunch over to Dad & Sue & I missed that too! I
do have to go to work tomorrow – we’re short-staffed, and I have a lot to get
done this week. We shall see how that goes.
Sunday, May 10th
Another fine meal by Dr. M – chicken thighs, peppers, onions, & zucchini. Yum!

I stopped by our peony for a photo shoot for my BeReal of the day. Lovely!
I was at work at 6 a.m. for our health risk assessments (we do fasting blood draws – that’s why we start so early), then helped set up for the Health Fair. We had it in the gym at the rec center. The only photos I have are some of the signs we put up. Very exciting. Ha!
Another 6 a.m. workday, then I helped out at the health fair. I don’t know why I didn’t take photos of all the tables (maybe because I’m too short to get good ones – I need a drone!), so you get my very UNhealthy food truck lunch. It was delicious! I ate half on Thursday & the other half on Friday.
It was another 6.a.m. day and I was DONE. I did work until 5:00. But no photo.
I only wanted half of my grits & eggs. I love these bowl covers that I got – there’s a size to fit any container!
Everywhere I turn I see people making dishes with chicken thighs. I've never used them -- not even once. I ought to expand my culinary horizons and give them a go. I liked drumsticks as a kid, but eventually I turned into a fan of white meat, and never looked back. I have heard the family tale about my great-aunt Rilla, who insisted on calling chicken breasts 'chicken bosoms.' Rilla apparently was quite a character.
ReplyDeleteAs for your hearing, do whatever's necessary to get it up to speed. My recent bout with the virus from hell left me with no hearing in my left ear. It's better now, but still I'd guess only about 50%. It's weird how much it affected everything -- I've been told it's a known side effect and will get better, but the timeline is uncertain. The doc says some people get their hearing back in a few days, and some take a few weeks. I'm at about a month now, and getting impatient.
I'm a dark-meater myself so I really like chicken thighs. My cold has REALLY stopped up my ears, so I'm extra unable to hear today. VERY ANNOYING. I hope you get your hearing back soon!
DeleteThe day Rick got his hearing aids he got a second life. He had no idea what all he was missing, and I could stop shouting the same things at him over and over again with varying degrees of anger and resentment. He loves them. It took no time at all for him to get used to them.
ReplyDeleteThe technology is incredible now: you control them with an app on your phone; they can be set to filter out background noise; batteries are affordable. His are the traditional kind because his hearing loss after a lifetime of construction noise was considerable.
Good hearing also staves off dementia. Those hearing aids will be a blessing to you and everyone around you. Go for it!
I will go for it! I know someone who ordered some off of Amazon - maybe I'll try that first. Although I really am a person who likes to let the professionals do what they do.
DeleteDave is exploring getting a hearing aid, but I'm not sure where that stands -- so no, unfortunately, I have no direct experience with this. I'll let you know what he decides if it happens anytime soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Apparently Dave and I should just DO IT according to everyone else.
