Class, Thy Name is Bug

Yesterday my boss’s wife called & as usual I answered his phone. I’ve never met her, but I really like her a lot. We dish about his foibles (of course, he can hear my end of the conversation so I dish gently). She asked about my surgery & had a horror story about a coworker who took six months to recover completely (thanks!). I told her that I would consider my recovery complete when I am able to raise my arm straight up in the air and shave under there. Yes, indeed, I told my boss’s wife that my goal is to shave under my arms.

Because I’m classy like that.

  1. Was she speechless or did she giggle? After all, she is also a woman, I usually treat them as friends, too!
Hey, you lived in Zambia?! How amazing! what were you doing there?

  2. You do live dangerously Bug m'dear.

How are you doing now that your shoulder pain problem has been fixed?

BTW, I forwarded a comment from one of your followers, Jeninacide I think it was, to my daughter. It was about having an appendicectomy. I did this because my daughter has been worried and in pain for many weeks after her doctor said he located a 'mass' in the uterus/ovary area. She underwent a surgical investigation about 5 or 6 weeks ago which found no 'mass' - great relief all round, but the pain persisted. On Thursday she had an emergency operation to remove her appendix. The pain just disappeared. She is so happy again; 100% better. We are all so upset that the original 'diagnosis' was so wide of the mark, causing much distress to her and all who love her.

Just thought I'd mention it; I'm so happy that all is well now.

  3. Wow Philip that's SCARY! You don't want to mess around with an inflamed appendix...

Angela - she laughed - but I still felt foolish.

I worked for the Baptist Mission in Zambia (it was a mission program for Southern Baptists in the US). I was the secretary/bookkeeper. I think everyone should live in Africa for just a little bit - it creates a whole new world view. I'll possibly do a series of posts, but my pictures are all in a giant album (this was pre-digital).

  4. At least the lady was amused. Glad you're back at work, anyway. Don't overdo it, though, eh?

  5. Don had the rotator cuff surgery, and I must say he's doing great now. It took about six months I'd say. Sorry, but the first three weeks were the worst by far.

  6. LOL I have no "filter" either, it's okay, it makes us...interesting. :oP

Oh how I needed the laugh! You blog was the first one I hit after I saved and closed (hopefully for the last time!) the church newletter editor. Thank you thank you thank you!

  7. Oh, yes, I'm apt to reveal the most personal things about myself.

  8. It was women talk, so the shaving thing was not out of place.

  10. Honesty is a value Bug.

Now I just hope she doesn't come around to check under your armpits to see how you're doing!

  12. "Class" is highly overrated. And, on that note...I remember being able to lift my arm for the first time after my shoulder surgery. (It had been about a month) I was absolutley mortified about what I saw under there. I'm a daily shaver and as hairless as a chihuahua and it darn near gave me heart palpitations. I'm rooting for a fast recovery so you can get under there and take care of business!

  13. Ha! I love it. A man has two wives, his wife and his secretary. Usually a man is terrified when his two "wives" get together.

I'm glad to hear your shoulder is getting better.

  14. Happy to hear you are recovering nicely. I have been driving a church member back and forth to her rehabs for shoulder therapy. Sounds very painful..ouch.
I think ladies with a great sense of humor have ALOT of class!

  15. My husband's assistant talks to both me, and my mother-in-law when she calls. She's a lot of fun, but my husband does think it's hilarious that now his mom is more likely to have a long chat with MJ than she is with her son.

I personally think it is absolutely marvelous that you said that. It's life, it can get a little hairy, after all!

Philip, I'm glad your daughter is okay, but that must have been frightening.
