Let’s
see if I can be a bit more upbeat this week. I’m not making any promises, but I
do have to say that I’m bored with reading about how pathetic I am.
Here’s
something interesting – last Friday, for an unknown period of time (my keen
observation skills leave something to be desired) the company across the way
flew the Chinese flag instead of the Ohio flag. It was a pretty windy day so I
had trouble getting a good picture, but you can tell that the flag is
definitely red with gold stars and
not red, white & blue.
Fascinating!
It was like that in the morning, & then when I came back from lunch they
were flying the Ohio flag again. Prank? Visiting dignitaries from China? The
company is based in the Netherlands, but they did file bankruptcy last year so
maybe they’re secretly owned by the Chinese now. Who knows!
Saturday
Dr. M & I got to spend a couple of hours with Anne (from Reverent Irreverence) &
her husband. They were in Cincinnati for a family birthday. We had such a nice time! Of course we both love
Anne, but had never met Ken before. Turns out we like him too! I wish we all
lived closer to each other.
Yes, Anne is wearing sheep earrings. Is it any wonder we love her? |
My
Facebook status from yesterday: Channeled
my grandmother Mary this morning & broke into alto on Just as I Am. We're
supposed to sing the melody line when we're in the congregation (strange
Episcopal rule?), but Mary wouldn't let me :)
On my way home from church I saw this:
Which just completed my day. Biscuit anyone?
gotta need a job pretty bad I think to wear one of those. I feel sorry for the ones down here in their hot suits prancing around in this summer heat.
ReplyDeleteShe seemed HIGHLY amused by her predicament - she posed for me to get her picture & was laughing. At least yesterday wasn't quite as hot as it has been - I her arms & legs were free.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love that biscuit! It's hard to tell from the photograph, but the American flag should be on the "marching right" of any other. And none should fly higher.
ReplyDeleteHope this is a better week for you.
You sure that's the ChiCom flag? Isn't the star/hammer/sickle supposed to be in the upper left corner?
ReplyDeleteI like your new banner photograph.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loved meeting up with you and Dr. M. Loved, loved, loved it! Ken had fun, too! I wish we lived closer, too, but at least we're not dreadfully far away. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted to say something about this nice lady in a biscuit outfit, but I think it would end up sounding dirty. So I won't.
ReplyDeleteI hope that woman OWNS the biscuit store. Otherwise I feel kind of bad that she has to stand around in that hulky foam outfit.
ReplyDeleteVery peculiar about the Chinese flag! I wonder if it has something to do with the Olympics? Maybe you'll see other nationalities, too!
Oh, how you make me smile! I've missed you guys. :c)
ReplyDeleteI hope that woman wanted to wear that biscuit costume and isn't some day worker willing to do anything for a few hours of minimum wage employment. She certainly looks happy, so maybe that's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThe flag? It probably explains the woman in the biscuit costume.
Loved your post. It is so much fun to meet up with a fellow blogger. I met Mary Cooper at life in a Small town last year in Knoxville when i was there visting a friend. She was delightful. We had dessert at shoneys. It turns out she lives rather near my best friend. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteThat thing about the flag is a bonafide mystery.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I'd have to take a bite of the biscuit girl. She looks so delicious.
