2021 Project 365 – Week Four

This was a momentous week for our country. Some folks are devastated (and can’t figure out why Trump didn’t just stay in office as he promised). Other people are ecstatic. I am just mostly relieved. I told someone today that the Biden administration will probably disappoint me (after all I voted for Bernie – ha!), but at least it feels like adults are in charge.
Sunday, January 17th
Look at this cute little face! I got to hold Grayson for about 2 hours on Sunday & was not mad about it. He’s such a tiny thing.

Monday, January 18th
One of my Christmas presents – my people know what I like.

Tuesday, January 19th
Got this book so Grayson’s parents can perform experiments on him (relax folks – it’s really about “cognitive, motor, language, and behavioral development…”).

Wednesday, January 20th
Inauguration day! I took my iPad to work so I could watch the show. I LOVED Amanda Gorman’s poem! Wow! “When day comes we step out of the shade, aflame and unafraid. The new dawn blooms as we free it. For there is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it. If only we're brave enough to be it.”

Thursday, January 21st
Finished this prayer shawl! It is blessed & on its way to its recipient.

Friday, January 22nd
I got most of the rest of the yarn for my temperature blanket today & decided to put it in the very naughty bag my sister-in-law gave me. It doesn’t really fit so I might have to switch it out, which would mean I wouldn’t be sitting here blushing in my own home.

Saturday, January 23rd
We’re supposed to eat the rainbow. Today I decided to focus on the color orange.

Temperature blanket update.

My dad & Sue, and Dr. M’s dad are all getting their vaccines this week. Dr. M and I are very relieved! I have no idea when we’ll be eligible, but at least we don’t have to worry about our parents as much. I know that some of my readers have already gotten their vaccines. How about the rest of you? Do you know when you’ll be able to get yours?

  1. I'm 61, and the way things are going, I'm not expecting to be vaccinated until sometime in the fall. I took my mother (age 90) to get her first dose of vaccine on Friday, and Ohio has already run out of vaccine for the 1B group. One of the vaccination sites ran out one hour into their four hour time block. It's a nightmare up here.

    1. Oh that's terrible. Apparently at least my county is doing a pretty good job - but I don't know what the supply line looks like.

    1. It was kind of a miracle. But I've made this pattern probably a dozen times now, so I sort of know what I'm doing. The only problem is if I'm watching a video I will sometimes lose track & have to frog a bit.

  3. OMG, that "ball sack" made me laugh. I love the baby experiments book, too! We're not looking at vaccines any time soon, sadly.

    1. It was the perfect gift from my sister-in-law, except I'm too embarrassed to carry it out in public. Ha!

  5. We are getting ours February 4th. If they don't run out before then. (Said the grumpy old man.

  6. I laughed out loud at your "yellow plate." That's my kind of combo. I get my first vaccine dose tomorrow. They finally have developed a rationale system here. If they get a thousand doses, they post a notice online that says, for example, "We have a thousand doses. We will open registation on Tuesday, January 26 at 9:30 a.m. You can find links on this site, Twitter, or Facebook." Yesterday, I sat down at 9:28, figured out that the County site already was slowing down, and switched to Twitter. With more server capacity, I got right in at 9:30 and snagged a spot.

Get this. They had 150,000 people try to sign on when the site opened, and they had filled all the slots in five minutes. Zowie!

    1. That's just crazy - and it's the kind of logistical nightmare that's happening everywhere.

  7. The baby's expressions are so sweet.
Love your crochet projects, especially the colors and pattern of the prayer shawl.

  8. Grayson is adorable! I could hold him for a couple of hours, too. My primary emotion at the inauguration was relief. We all need a break. Your temperature blanket is coming along nicely.

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
