I
am still so full from our church potluck this afternoon that I’m typing this
with one eye open halfway to NapLand. So let’s just see how coherent I will be!
Sunday, August 21st
No photo. As I recall I went to my dad’s house to work the puzzle again, and then I went to the grocery store. It was a very exciting day.
Monday, August 22nd
Things blooming around the house – Sulphur Cosmos, Encore Azaleas in two colors, and the mum I was given after my hip surgery 5 years ago.

When you scroll through your Facebook memories it shows the times you changed your profile pic, but it has your current cover photo in the background. I was so amused when I saw this profile pic I posted 3 years ago. I posted it on FB saying I look like a demented elf – but actually I think I give more of a demented cherub vibe. Hahaha!
Thursday, August 25th
Dr. M went out our back door to fill the bird feeders and saw this delightful gentleman garden spider! So gorgeous – and he’s still hanging around (possibly trying to attract a mate).
Friday, August 26th
I got talked into changing offices (the new one has a window, but because I’m nosy I’m more excited that I can see down the hall into the lobby). However, the new office has a couple of very full filing cabinets that need moved and for some reason emptying those became my job. I filled up 14 boxes of files. Reminded me of the old days at my job in Ohio where I had to take files down to the archives every January. Oof.
Went by my dad’s DETERMINED
to finish the puzzle, but only made it to 8:00. Sigh.
Spent some time crocheting the other monster
during the baseball game. I timed how long each row is taking. There are 79 of
this length of row, then it starts decreasing (I’ve already done about half of the
79).
Saturday, August 27th
I couldn’t stand it – went back to my dad’s house & FINISHED THE PUZZLE! HUZZAH! It’s 1040 pieces, 150 cm long (59 inches), and 25 cm (9.8 inches) high. Whew!
It’s too late for a nap, so I might as well find something to do that doesn’t require me to be very sharp. I think I’ll change the towels and then maybe crochet a while. We shall see. What’s on (or was on) your agenda for Sunday afternoon?

I know almost nothing about spiders, but I know a bit about your big black and yellow one, and you have a girl rather than a boy. The females spin the webs; the males are smaller and hold their legs differently. I hate walking into their webs, that's for sure. I don't envy your task when it comes to those files. I well remember days when everything was on paper, and filing was a daily task. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteTodays projects were mostly household: grocery store, making a black bean and corn salad for lunches this week, etc. I nearly had a heart attack in the shampoo aisle at the store. My favorite shampoo, which I last purchased at $3.59 about a month or so ago now costs $7. Thank goodness there's no inflation, huh? Out of curiosity, I looked through the shelves, and the cheapest equivalent size shampoo I could find was $4.29. Anyone who thinks things will get better any time soon doesn't understand basic economics or monetary policy. Hang on tight!
I forgot to mention how impressed I was with that puzzle. That's not only one that would be fun to put together, that looks like a spot I'd love to visit.
DeleteThe location in the puzzle is called Icefield Park, which I think is in Alberta, Canada. It sure is gorgeous, which made working it a TAD easier!
DeleteI was grateful to finish another chapter early. Still plugging away at My Argentina. Will I finish this year? Maybe if I'm as persistant as you with puzzle and crochet projects!
ReplyDeleteI keep reading your posts but not commenting - sorry about that!
DeleteI love those big garden spiders. Haven't seen one around here this year. My Sunday activity was a chore I've been putting off for months because of the heat, cutting the mid calf high grass and weeds in the little backyard. Have to use the trimmer cause can't get the lawn mower through the gate. Boy is my arm sore today.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like entirely TOO MUCH WORK to me. But you knew I'd say that. Ha!
DeleteI detest all spiders. Hate them. No one can change my mind.
ReplyDeleteSunday was a lovely day at the lake. We did some boating and then relaxed on the deck before heading home. It's hot and humid, but that will break by Tuesday, thankfully. Are you the only one who works on the puzzles?
My dad and Sue usually work on them with me, but this one was so challenging that they could only do a few pieces a week. It took almost 6 weeks to work. If it had been at my house I probably would have finished sooner, but thank goodness I don't have a good puzzle working area because I would LITERALLY get nothing else done.
DeleteI've never seen a five-foot-long puzzle! That IS a very handsome spider, regardless of gender. Do all those paper files really need to be saved? Can't that stuff be digitized?
ReplyDeleteWe do scan in a lot of material, but we're basically in the dark ages here. In fact, we're about to update our operating software (finance/HR/billing, etc.). The one we're using is from 1995. Ha!
