2024 Project 365 – Week Eleven

This week at work was brain intensive which means I’ve spent the weekend trying to use as few brain cells as possible. That might affect the quality of this post. We shall see!
Sunday, March 10th
Potluck at church. Of course I had to get a piece of the fruit cocktail cake I made. It was so good!

As I mentioned last week, came home and did my annual cleanup of the wildflower bed. I’m always surprised at how much hard work it is for me.

Monday, March 11th
I dressed some leftover chicken and dumplings and lima beans with Chex Mix. Personally, I think this is just a version of the Midwest Hot Dish, but my Facebook friends weren’t very impressed.

Tuesday, March 12th
Phlox photo shoot.

Wednesday, March 13th
This water bottle is ancient & the finish is coming off, but it still works & it fits exactly into the slot in my car so I haven’t wanted to spend the energy to find a new one. So when I got an extra Oh Happy Dani sticker, and my coworker gave me some others for my birthday, I decided to dress the old bottle up.

Thursday, March 14th
Dr. M says: Military Appreciation Night at PNC. My KA-BAR and I salute the USMC and House Atreides! May Frederik Anderson defend his fief like Duncan Idaho, and may Matthew Tkachuk’s blade chip and shatter. (Note from the Bug: the Hurricanes won!)

Friday, March 15th
The only time I care about college basketball is during March Madness. This week was the ACC men’s tournament and this game with my NC State Wolfpack was VERY exciting. They ended up tying the game in the final minutes and then winning in overtime, sending them to the championship game. But this was their 4th game in 4 days and they were going to have to play UNC Chapel Hill on Saturday, for a 5th game in a row so I didn’t have a lot of hope that they’d win the tournament.

Saturday, March 16th
Dr. M took one of our favorite photos. Happy sigh.

Oh ye (me) of little faith! This is the first time the Wolfpack won the ACC tournament since 1987 (the year I graduated college). It was a great game!

In the midst of watching the basketball game we also watched hockey, and the Hurricanes tied the game in the last few minutes & won in overtime. I’m not sure the Bug Household can handle this level of excitement. Perhaps a calm week ahead? Please and thank you!

  1. That green grass and blue sky doesn't suffer from the addition of a house and car one bit. It's glorious. I sort of pay attention to March Madness, but my interest is mostly piqued by Cinderella teams that knock off high seeds. I giggle. As for hockey; I don't get it. Of course, I've never watched more than some highlights, either. For ice sports that I really don't get, and don't want to get, there's curling. I have a reader from Ontario who participates in that, and gets wildly excited about it. I try to be polite.

    1. We used to LOVE watching curling in the Olympics. It's more fun if you think of it as satire.

  2. I always root for the obscure colleges, like this year's McNeese St. Never heard of it!

And by "root for", I mean "say it's My Team and promptly forget about it completely and ignore the entire thing." I don't get how people can become excited about teams from colleges they didn't even attend. But, I know I'm the outlier.

    1. I usually base my bracket choices on either record or who I'd like to see win, but in the end I'm all about the underdog. Go ahead & bust my bracket McNeese St.!

  3. I have no interest in sports of any kind. and I still think that house needs trees, flowers something besides standing alone in a sea of green though it does make a nice picture. that phlox is so pretty, mine won't bloom for awhile yet.

    1. Yes - I've wondered about the lack of trees, but I think they must plant right up to the house. Maybe they don't even have a yard? Kind of hard to tell.

  4. Dr. M's photo of the house atop the green hill is very reminiscent of Andrew Wyeth's famous painting Christina's World.

    1. Yes it is! Perhaps I should go lie (or is it lay - and wasn't that comic you shared supposed to help me remember?) in the field.

    2. Depends what you're planning on doing in that field but lie is probably the most correct. 😉

  5. Wait -- WHY is Dr. M brandishing a big knife? Is that a sports reference I don't get? (Like Ellen, I know nothing about sports and don't watch it at all.) The house photo IS very good but if I owned that place, I'd also want to plant some trees!

    1. It was military appreciation night so he was drawing a line to (I think) the Dune movie? I'm not always sure what's going on in his head. Ha!
