Carolina Cow wasn’t sure what to expect when she got invited
on a trip to the Outer Banks. On the way there she mostly just slept (the Bug
was pretty boring & sleepy too). But when she got to the hotel room she was
amazed!
The ocean!
She spent a lot of time just staring at it.
A couple of days later she was on the move again – going to
see lighthouses!
She helped navigate (don’t tell her, but there’s really just
the one road).
Ooh – Bodie Lighthouse!
Here’s Hatteras!
Do you want to climb up?
How about just a picture in front? Lazy cow…
On the way back to the hotel they stopped at a nature trail.
Carolina Cow was glad that she stayed in the car because
apparently there was all kinds of drama!
Just hearing about it made her need to gaze at the sand dune
& go to her happy place.
The day before they left they went to the Wright Memorial.
Carolina Cow enjoyed looking at the Wright Flyer replica.
She looked up at the memorial…
And looked…
And decided that she’d just stay in the car.
She was worn out from all of this roaming around in the car
& had a well-deserved a beer.
Carolina Cow thoroughly enjoyed her trip to the Outer Banks !
there could be an art house movie in the idea of a toy cow going on a road trip...
ReplyDeletei once took an inflatable pteradactyl toy on holiday to greece - it didn't have a very good time really, just one trip to the beach and the rest of the time in the suitcase - still, it was a change from sitting in our filing room at work
Looks like one happy cow. I would be too if I'd seen all that in just one week. ;)

Wow!! I can tell Carolina Cow had a wonderful holiday exploring the outer banks. I love the old Wright Brother's plane. Beautiful scenery and lovely pictures. I love where she decided to just stay in the car. Thanks for sharing, Dana. it was fun!
ReplyDeletelooks like a great week but I probably would have stayed on the beach.
ReplyDeleteCarolina had quite the adventure! She was a bit afraid of the sand and surf, and some of the tourist stops were just a blur, lol. Glad she could tag along.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I suspect she doesn't do well in the waves.
ReplyDeleteShe did brave the balcony a time or two, although the laughing gulls made her quite nervous :-)
DeleteBodie is my favorite light house. What a great trip!
ReplyDeleteI had a thought today when I was riding -- you might want to see if there's a bike shop in the town where you work, ask if you can try one out to see how it feels. Then, if you want to get one, you can leave it at work and take a ride each day during lunch!
Smiles, K
Bodie was fabulous! The whole trip was fabulous. We're working on the bike thing...trying to sort out the latest glitch in recovery right now, but we are hopeful she can ride a bike in the near future. Thanks...your care and encouragement are greatly appreciated!
DeleteSounds like a busy trip for Carolina Cow! I love the clouds in that photo of the Bodie lighthouse. Is Charles Kuralt from NC? Is that why the trail is named after him?
ReplyDeleteIn so many ways, Kuralt was the best of NC. Born in Wilmington, came of age in Charlotte, attended UNC, where he became editor of the school paper, etc. See his book, North Carolina Is My Home. For more on the trail: http://www.northeast-nc.com/kuralt/
DeleteSo glad Carolina Cow enjoyed her trip to the Outer Banks. I hope she's rested up from all her adventures. Outer Banks is one of my favorite places.
ReplyDeleteShe spent a few days regaling her furry friends with tales from her adventures, but seems to have settled back into her normal routine, now :-)
Deletelooks like fun!!
ReplyDeleteHah - looks like Carolina Cow had a great trip! My husband's cousin's daughter (yeah, go figure that out...) just came back from a two-week trip to Australia. She took a bunch of pictures with a Furby in it.
