As Promised...

Here are a few pictures from our recent "snow event." By the time you read this most likely we'll be in the middle of another "snow event." But hopefully we'll still be small potatoes compared to DC & Baltimore!

These are the remains of summer's sunflowers. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the tufts of snow on top of the dead blossoms look like cotton bolls.

I'll probably post some more pictures later in the week. Dr. M took over FIFTY pictures today! I won't post all of those of course, but I'll pick out a few more. Of course, we may be posting pictures of a whole new landscape if we get a lot more snow!

Update: My morning commute was very snowy! But I took my time (Dr. M & Daddy - you will be proud of me - I tried to stay behind cars that weren't going 20 or 60), and when Eliza Gilkyson came on my PDA singing "Beautiful World" I agreed that it was a beautiful world this morning. And bonus: it was in the 20s, so my car had no trouble achieving my 85 degree sauna. Yay! I'll most likely leave work early today - definitely want to make sure I'm home before dark.

  1. Lovely landscape! Doesn`t it look like a sugar icing (well, I guess it`s the other way around, the icing got its name from this weather) on the meadows? If it weren`t so cold (here) I would still enjoy it for some more time. It`s only February, after all. Mid-winter. Let`s have a fried apple! Oh, and of course you are invited to my cakes, Dana!!

  2. Snow is nice if you don't have to be out in it.

  3. Love your snow pictures, and that last one especially. We've been having a mix of snow and rain. Can't make up its mind. If it were up to me it would be LOTS of snow!

  4. You know, I think we got lots more snow than you guys and we're only about an hour away! It's coming down hard right now, about 18 inches deep, so far.

  7. All that is beautiful but again, I'm awfully glad to see bare dead winter ground here and not the white stuff. You're from my area..you know that its dreadful on the roads and the grocery stores. I look forward to seeing more pics though!

  8. i'm loving the snow pictures. it's way more fun to look at photos than to acutally deal with the snow. keep us posted if it gets worse.

  10. Yes, get off those roads before dark.

Beautiful photos. The snow is so pretty. There's something so wistful about a field of corn stalks, or sunflower stubs in the winter. A little sad but there's still promise of what's to come. Beautiful.

  11. I see the news and the footage of it, and it seems simply unbelievable that there is MORE to come. Hang in there!
