10 on 10

Just another day in the life of the Bug...

Thought I'd straighten my hair this morning. Hair has never been part of my skill set - results may frequently vary.

I wanted to get an early morning picture of one of our day lilies - they're so cool & spiky...

Morning snack.

I wanted to try one of the new Wendy's pretzel burgers for lunch - VERY yummy. But you can see how well they listened to my "no onions" request - ha!

I tried to do something other than eat today, but our internet was glacial for a bit. Took me 20 minutes to print a UPS label!

Took a walk & listened to my audio book. The earring looks really funky - that red part is actually silver. It was just reflecting my red camera :)

We have new phones at work. For some reason I like how the number 3 shows up on the screen. Yes, I waited until 3:33 so I could take a picture. Is that weird? I think that's weird :)

Afternoon thunderstorm - glad I took my walk earlier!

My view for most of my commute home. Sigh.

When I got home Dr. M had assembled my new bicycle! I'm so excited to have it - I rode around the neighborhood twice. The silly little basket is just mostly decorative - but it will hold my camera. Ha!

  1. I do believe the bike is the same color as the Mazda 323 The Bug had when we got married. It had 197,000 miles on it when we finally deemed it too scary to drive. We need to get an odometer for the bike!

    1. Ooh - I'll add that to the list:

      1. helmet
      2. bell
      3. odometer

  2. I used to ride my bike for short trips to the hardware store or grocery store or other local errands when I lived in the city. I still have my bike out here but everything is much further away so I never ride it anymore.

    1. This is the first place I've lived where doing actual errands by bike is possible. I'm pretty excited about it - although I want to get more comfortable in traffic before I get on the main road.

  3. I love the blue bike. We gave our bikes away when we moved here. Only hills to go up and down. Big hills.

    1. Oh yeah - never even crossed my mind to get a bike when we lived in Waynesville!

  4. You should name it. I suggest The Bug-gy. ;)

    1. I did name it - she's called Daisy (although Buggy would be pretty appropriate - ha!).

  5. Props for straightening your hair! I gain a lot of life satisfaction from the numbers on a clock. 12:34 = happy day. :). Yes, it Is weird

  6. Believe or not....I can't ride a ride. True story. Never had one. It seems like your hair grows super fast. Do you travel on a two lane road to work and back? I love pretzel buns!

    1. I used to ride when I was a kid, and then we rented bikes on a vacation 10 years ago - I did ok then. But now I'm pretty clumsy & not very agile, so it's kind of tricky.

I'm on a 2 lane road for about 10 of my 40 mile commute - so not that bad.

My hair does grow pretty fast. I'm getting about 3 inches whacked off next week though - it's out of control!

  7. I so wanted to do a 10 on 10 this month...and I even remembered, at first. Started with my first picture (coffee and oatmeal), my second picture was getting ready to go out the door...and once I got to work I forgot all about it! Of course it would be kind of hard to take pictures at work with my boss sitting right there. Maybe next time...August 10 is a Saturday.

You really are my long-lost sister! I once pulled over in my car so I could take a picture of my odometer when it was at 33,333 miles and the trip odometer was at 333.3 miles.

We love pretzel buns...I've been getting them at Aldi and we've been using them for our garden burgers.

    1. I nearly forgot to do it once I got to work - I'm not sure what triggered my memory, but I'm glad! Next month should be more interesting since it's a Saturday.

I did not know that Aldi had pretzel buns! I'm going to have to check that out - a veggie burger would be a lot healthier than a bacon cheeseburger :)

    2. So you're not going to eat that bacon? Can I have it? ;)

  8. Puh-leeze! Do not mention veggie burgers in the same sentence as a bacon cheeseburger!

I have avoided pretzel buns because of how it sounds but your picture convinces me I'll have to try one. Or two. Or more.

I, too, like the blue bike. I would have named it something like . . . the blue bike. Ride on!

  9. I luv hur! You will have fun riding around your neighborhood and the basket is fab.
Love the pic of the apple with all the shadows.
    Enjoy that new toy.

  10. So you straightened your hair and put it in a pony-tail? Why not let it flow?

Love the bike! I hope you have better luck with it than I did with mine - two flats before it even left the garage!

    1. I wore it down at work - but I have a LOT of hair & it was too hot to leave down. Maybe I'll leave it down in the fall :)

  11. The new bike is beautiful! So happy for you!

IF you feel aches that don't seem to go away, go to your local bike shop and ask them to look at the "fit". When you say Dr. M assembled it, that tells me that you probably didn't get a "fit" assessment at the store. Not dissing him at all -- just knowing that you don't want to aggravate the hip. You want to celebrate your mobility!

It cracks me up that you got inspired at Kelley's Island and you're wearing MY shirt! Ha ha

I'm taking total credit if you turn into a bike goddess....

    1. You're not dissing me at all...I am able to fit a bike for myself pretty well, but for her, it was educated guessing for now. I know, for example, that the seat is too low for her leg length, but she doesn't want it any higher until she gets more comfortable balancing. We have a very good, open-minded bike shop just up the road...we'll check in with them as needed. And you deserve LOTS of credit! It is funny about the Kelley connection.

  12. Loved the photos. We don't have the pretzel burger at Wendy's here yet. It looks good...and I have the onion problem too...they never listen. Love your new bike. Have a fun weekend riding it. Hope your weather is better than ours has been.

  13. The bike looks like a lot of fun. It just has fun written all over it. :)

Why is the number 3 better than the other numbers on your phone? LOL! You crack me up.

I wonder if the jewelry designer intended the earrings to change color with reflections? You know?

  14. i would probably have waited until 3:33pm, got distracted by something, missed it and had to try again the next day
