2014 Project 365 – Week Sixteen

I’m going to make a pronouncement - & some of you may scoff or tell me to hush so I don’t jinx us all – but I really really believe that this week had the last of the snow until next fall. (If I say that emphatically enough it might even be true!)

Sunday, April 13th
The Daily Bike. I also spent some time putting gadgets on my bike – a cell phone holder & the lock I’ve had for almost a year. Why, yes I can use a screwdriver!

Monday, April 14th
I had to laugh at myself today – this was my affirmation for the day & I taped it on my forehead as a reminder (no I didn’t leave it on there all day – ha!).

Someone had suggested that I put stickers on my helmet, so I printed some clip art on label paper & had at it. As I said on Facebook: Really, at each point in this bike riding process I have had a choice between dignity and fun. Any guesses as to which path I chose?

The Daily Bike – yes there was a chill in the air!

There are actually two houses in our neighborhood with almost the exact same display. Made me laugh.

Tuesday, April 15th
The last snow of the year. Really. I promise. Heh.

Dr. M saw these guys today.

The Daily Bike.

The moon!

Wednesday, April 16th
I finished this scarf for a friend but haven’t sent it off yet, so I made use of it today! Yes, I did lower it down off of my face.

Dr. M being a hippie prof (& looking grim as he tries to figure out how to work his camera to take a selfie).

The Daily Bike. Oh & by the way thanks to everyone who encouraged me to get a helmet. I was waiting at a corner & just fell right over (I have terrible balance). My head banged on the pavement but it was well protected. I would say that only my pride was hurt, but we all know I don't really have any pride left. Ha!

Thursday, April 17th
The Daily Bike.

Cows napping & staring at Dr. M. (and one of them isn't even a cow!).

Starling – so pretty in the sun.

Our Maundy Thursday service at church.

Friday, April 18th
Goldfinch!

Look who got out of her long winter prison! She’s a little raggedy, but Dr. M will trim her in a few days & then she’ll be ready to go crazy all summer.

The Daily Bike.

Good Friday at church.

Saturday, April 19th
The Daily Bike.

Dr. M made a lovely dinner tonight.

Tower o’ sheep. Appropriate for Easter weekend, right?

Have a great week!

Most of our photos are taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR, using a 55-200mm zoom lens. This is the camera that Dr. M takes with him most days. He also takes pictures with our old reliable 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710.  The Bug uses our new Nikon Coolpix S6200 most of the time. If you’re interested in which camera was used for a particular shot, just ask!

  1. Love your daily bike pictures! And Dr. M may look grim (focused?), but we know he's a softie.

I hope you said that about the "last of the snow" with really great emphasis and really, really loud...because when we still lived in New York, I remember snow on Mother's Day....

  2. I am intrigued by the tower of sheep. I think you should add to it and eventually make it your Christmas tree.

  6. that geranium is huge! and I guess the helmet came in handy but I think that's what got you off balance...all the extra weight on your head.

  10. The shot of you on you bike on Saturday, April, 19 is a great shot.
Your affirmation should be glued or maybe nailed to my forehead. Seriously. I've been so bad this winter. It's just wrong.
Fun beats dignity with one hand tied behind its back. Keep having fun, Bug.

  11. I was gonna say there's not too much dignity in wearing a bicycle helmet anyways, so why not go for fun, but then you apparently had to put your helmet to good use, so throwing away your dignity was a good choice! :0)

My son fell on his bike this week and was thankful for his helmet too. His bike is still a bit big for his growing body and he sometimes crashes at random times but thankfully a little knock on the head is all he got for that fall.

  12. Love ALL the Daily Bike pics! Are you hooked now? Do you think you will continue after April?
Foot washing Maundy Thursday brought back sweet memories of growing up in a church that practiced that.
Sheep, great idea for Easter decor.
    Dr. M: Quite the look!
    Super colorful scarf!
Have a great rest of the week, and don't fall off again or, better yet, ALWAYS wear your helmet!

  13. That starling looks like he, or she, was quite preoccupied about some matter of concern.

  14. Your bike hat reminds me of a Volkswagen Beetle I had in 1970. It was blue and had flower decals all over it. And it only cost $100. I felt like a real hippie in it.
