2023 Project 365 – Week Three

This week has been a bit of a blur. My dad was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday with breathing issues. He’s doing much better now, but needless to say, it was not business as usual in the Bug household!
Sunday, January 15th
It warmed up later, but I had to break out my actual winter gear when I headed out to church.

Monday, January 16th
The Roy on his throne – it’s his favorite spot in his yard.

We enjoyed last week’s roasted veggies so much that we doubled down!

Tuesday, January 17th
Sue called me in the morning to say that dad wasn’t doing well at all. She took him to the emergency room. I got this photo of them playing thumb war.

We were in the emergency room for quite a while before he was moved to the ICU. I thought I looked pretty fashionable wearing his hat.

Wednesday, January 18th
Another day of worry. I put his goal for the day on the board, and he definitely met it.

Thursday, January 19th
Some good news for dad (diagnosis & treatment), and I ate an actual vegetable!

Friday, January 20th
Hospital sunset…

Got home and had the best turkey burger with guacamole – yum!

Saturday, January 21st
My brother had been out of town, so it was really nice to spend some time with him and dad (and Sue!). They watched basketball while I played on my phone.

Dad is still in the hospital, but has been moved out of the ICU. I’m not sure how much longer he’ll be there, but he has definitely been improving every day. It was a pretty scary time! Makes me extra thankful that he’s still with us. What are you extra thankful for this week?

  1. I'm sorry for your Scary Week, Bug. I hope your dad continues his improvement and that the doctors are able to find a suitable treatment that can send him home soon with continued good health.

    1. He's in very good hands, best we can tell. He may need to be on steriods for awhile, but his breathing is improving day by day.

  2. I'm so sorry about your dad, but I'm glad he's improving! Poor Roy looks cold up there on that chair.

    1. Looks cold, yes, but isn't. He has triple layer fur and loves being outside most of the time in winter. He is getting older, though, so his human is more mindful of the weather, especially too hot or too cold, than she might have been when we first moved here.

  3. That photo of your brother took me aback. He very much resembles a long time ago friend of mine. And he lives in Raleigh!

  4. Gosh. I almost missed this, since you landed in spam for some reason. It was odd, because there weren't any photos in the spam version and I almost feared it was spam! Being a smart cookie, I came here, and all was well. And when I re-clicked the spam version this morning, the photos were there. I think it must have been a gmail glitch.

Anyway. I'm glad to read that your dad is improving. That kind of thing can be scary beyond words. Of course, the extra family time is a benefit, even if you got it under less than perfect circumstances. I love the goals for the day that you posted. A pun a day keeps the doctor at bay!

    1. Oh, shoot. Blogger doesn't keep my name, apparently. I'm the anonymous one. I tried logging in through Google, thinking that would fix the issue, but I'm not allowed to do that, either. I know Wordpress has its own issues, but Blogger gives me a headache.

    2. I can only log into blogger on a PC - if I try to do it on my iPad it does not work. So yes, it has issues!

I went to the hospital yesterday & dad was definitely telling jokes and terrible puns - it's who he is as a person. Ha!

Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear what you have to say!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
